As always, we have our main Week 9 Fantasy Football waiver wire article that covers every position at the surface level. But Fantasy Alarm members often play in deep leagues that require additional levels of research and nuance. That’s where this article comes in. We take things a step further to look at those deep fantasy football streamers you might need to keep your team afloat. Plus, we also look at the top fantasy football stashes who might not be able to help us right now, but could contribute to a championship down the road!

Best Fantasy Football Streamers and Stashes For Week 9

What is a Streamer?

A streamer is a player that you can actually start in your lineup currently. They might not be the flashiest players, but they won’t get you a zero. In deeper leagues with a lot of starting spots, you may need to call on them from time to time - especially when bye weeks and injuries come around.

What is a Stash?

The stashes are players that have appealing upside for one reason or another, but aren’t reliable guys you can start now. Maybe they are injured, and you can put them in an IR spot. Maybe they are handcuffs that could have a big upside if the starter gets hurt. Maybe they are rookies who need time to develop and carve out a role. Whatever it is, we want to keep an eye on them. And stash them on deep benches.

Week 9 QB Streamers To Target

Sam Darnold, Seattle Seahawks

Yahoo: 36% | ESPN: 21% | Sleeper: 43%

We’ve used Darnold at various points as a streaming option. And, as we mentioned in the main article, Darnold is coming off a bye week with a favorable matchup against the Washington Commanders this week. So that’s the guy we are likely leaning off if we need a spot start.

Trevor Lawrence, Jacksonville Jaguars

Yahoo: 42% | ESPN: 27% | Sleeper: 32%

Trevor Lawrence has not looked particularly good on the tape. He’s making some pretty glaring mistakes and missing some open guys. Last week, his completion percentage was a brutal 47.9%. But this isn’t fantasy baseball, so we don’t care about “categories." He still managed to throw for 296 yards. Lawrence has thrown for 250 yards in back-to-back games, in fact. He’s also flashed his rushing ability at certain points. And a “get right” game against the Raiders this week might be just what we need.

NFL Week 9 Quarterback Stashes

J.J. McCarthyMinnesota Vikings

Yahoo: 23% | ESPN: 26% | Sleeper: 21%

Another one we hit on in the main article, but this is our top stash candidate at quarterback. The sample size we have so far is simply too small. What if he actually is decent enough to be a starting NFL quarterback? Even a serviceable QB can have value with weapons like Justin Jefferson, Jordan Addison, T.J. Hockenson, and Aaron Jones

Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints

Yahoo: 1% | ESPN: 0% | Sleeper: 3%

Pretty simple premise. We don’t know what Tyler Shough looks like. It’s probably not that good if he’s been behind Spencer Rattler. But you never know for sure. What if he decides to take off and run a bunch, like Jaxson Dart has? In any superflex league, he will surely be added. In some deep single-QB leagues, we are at least a little intrigued.

NFL Week 9 Running Back Streamers

Bam Knight, Arizona Cardinals

Yahoo: 20% | ESPN: 19% | Sleeper: 28%

Obviously, we are looking to add the guys from the main article in Tyrone Tracy and Trey Benson. But Benson has to remain sidelined for one more game based on the IR rules. That gives Bam Knight one more shot at a spot start for you if you need him. And who knows - maybe Knight hangs on to part of the role even when Benson gets back. We’d prefer he didn’t, as that can get messy for fantasy, but you never know.

Tyjae Spears, Tennessee Titans

Yahoo: 31% | ESPN: 36% | Sleeper: 46%

Spears might not have the single-week upside of Bam Knight. But he made the main article because he has staying power. He’s a pretty solid full PPR handcuff, plus he gets the pass-down work for a bad team. If anything were to happen to Tony Pollard, now he would have a big role.

Kyle Monangai, Chicago Bears

Yahoo: 37% | ESPN: 38% | Sleeper: 52%

Monangai is now in a slightly better position than our typical standard league streamer, Tyler Allgeier. And that’s because Monangai is much closer to forcing an actual split with the banged-up D’Andre Swift than Allgeier ever will be to forcing a real split with Bijan Robinson. So Mongangi gets the nod long term, plus he has the better matchup this week vs. the Bengals.

NFL Week 9 Running Back Stashes

Emanuel Wilson, Green Bay Packers

Yahoo: 5%| ESPN: 4% | Sleeper: 9%

Do we expect Emanuel Wilson to regularly have games like the one he just had last week? No, or he’d be in the streamers section. In fact, he’d be in the main article. But we have seen enough from him to recognize that he would probably look pretty good in this offense if anything were to happen to Josh Jacobs. And maybe he would have some standalone streaming value in a deep league in a pinch.

Isaiah Davis, New York Jets

Yahoo: 32% | ESPN: 8% | Sleeper: 10%

No change on the theory here - at least not until next Tuesday, which is the NFL trade deadline. Braelon Allen is out for the meaningful fantasy football season. And Breece Hall has made it clear that he wants to be traded. Isaiah Davis gets pass work, but he’s not really viable with that. But he’s a handcuff with two outs now via trade or injury.

Blake Corum, Los Angeles Rams

Yahoo: 8% | ESPN: 7% | Sleeper: 12%

With DJ Giddens being a healthy scratch this week in favor of Ameer Abdullah, he’s basically fallen off our pure handcuff radar. With the amount of work that Kyren Williams gets, Blake Corum is now one of the best “pure handcuff” options, along with Tyler Allgeier and Brian Robinson

Top WR Streamers For Week 9

Michael Wilson, Arizona Cardinals

Yahoo: 3% | ESPN: 3% | Sleeper: 4%

Michael Wilson has been pretty meh so far this year. With Trey McBride and Marvin Harrison Jr, he’s pretty squarely the third fiddle. But there’s one place where third fiddles have been able to eat a big portion themselves so far this year, and that’s Jerry Jones’s shootout factory. This game in Dallas has a 54-point over/under with only a three-point spread, meaning conditions could lead to another explosive game. With that, the 4-5 targets that Michael Wilson usually gets could be 6-7, which is all we need for a one-week streamer.

And the cherry on top? The game is on Monday night, making him the perfect play to have in your back pocket if you have guys who are questionable going into the weekend. Some leagues have waivers that lock completely once the games start, so late-game options become slightly more valuable to hold.

Darius Slayton, New York Giants

Yahoo: 19% | ESPN: 11% | Sleeper: 26%

Everyone knows that the New York Giants are missing some star players. No Malik Nabers, no Cam Skattebo. That’s going to call for some touches from other guys, and Darius Slayton happens to be a veteran in a full-time role. He’s competing with Wan’Dale Robinson and Theo Johnson for targets, which isn’t exactly an insurmountable ask. He led the team in targets this past week and was a questionable call away from a long touchdown.

Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts

Yahoo: 29% | ESPN: 10% | Sleeper: 30%

Alec Pierce is our wide receiver version of Tyler Allgeier. Is he guaranteed touches? No. Does he often get a couple of looks? Yes. Is he capable of scoring? Yes. In Pierce’s case, he runs high aDot routes as a field stretcher and gets a deep look or two each week, so it’s just a matter of whether he hauls it or not. The last two weeks, he has hauled in a 48-yarder and a 50-yarder, so he did what we needed him to do.

NFL Week 9 Wide Receiver Stashes

Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers

Yahoo: 6% | ESPN: 7% | Sleeper: 12%

We did not love the first week back for Jalen Coker. He basically only played in the slot, which scared us. But this week we saw a glimmer of hope. Coker played a good amount of slot again. But he also played two snaps in two-wide receiver sets where Xavier Legette left the game, and it was Tetairoa McMillan and Jalen Coker as the only two WRs on the field. That’s the dream. And Xavier Legette has not been good, so it’s possible.

Tory Horton, Seattle Seahawks

Yahoo: 3% | ESPN: 2% | Sleeper: 8%

Same thought process as we’ve had for a while with this player. This scheme highly consolidates targets among the top two WRs. If one of Jaxon Smith-Njigba or Cooper Kupp goes down, he should get a big role right away. Maybe they even increase his role coming out of the bye, as often happens with rookies. Cooper Kupp has not managed to get anything going.

Jalen McMillan, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Yahoo: 2% | ESPN: 0% | Sleeper: 7%

This one is really only viable if you have an IR spot. But you should never just have an IR spot sitting empty in your leagues - it’s literally free real estate. Mike Evans is done. We don’t know if Chris Godwin is ever going to be 100% this year now that he’s had some fibula issues pop up after his offseason ankle surgery. And McMillan likely still operates over Tez Johnson if he’s healthy. The problem? We have no idea if/when McMillan will be back. All we know if they told us the neck injury was “serious”. That’s why I’m only holding with a free IR spot.

Week 9 TE Streamers You Can Trust

Juwan Johnson, New Orleans Saints

Yahoo: 32% | ESPN: 33% | Sleeper: 35%

We mentioned it in the main article, but Juwan Johnson is likely your best bet for a stream this week. He’s seemingly over the ankle injury, so he offers the best combination of route participation and target share weekly.

Theo Johnson, New York Giants

Yahoo: 24% | ESPN: 19% | Sleeper: 20%

You could not possibly make up a worse stretch of matchups for a tight end than: Eagles, Broncos, Eagles, 49ers. But, since the 49ers lost Fred Warner, they might not be that bad off a matchup anymore. With a lot of streaming options being picked up last week and four more teams on bye this week, Theo Johnson has a pretty decent combo of startability right now and long-term upside. So he’s not a bad play if you need it.

NFL Week 9 Tight End Stashes

Colston Loveland, Chicago Bears

Yahoo: 22% | ESPN: 24% | Sleeper: 24%

Colston Loveland still remains a good stash. Not every rookie is going to pop right away. In the case of Loveland, he hasn’t really even gotten the chance because of his limited role. With Cole Kmet nicked up, he’s finally going to get a little bit more of an opportunity, and sometimes that’s all you need. Hopefully, he can prove in this window that he deserves to be a featured part of this offense.

Elijah Arroyo, Seattle Seahawks

Yahoo: 1% | ESPN: 1% | Sleeper: 5%

Another rookie here, where we really like the profile, but the usage hasn’t been great. AJ Barner is the better blocker, and it’s not close. But that doesn’t mean both guys can’t play. Last year in Klint Kubiak’s offense, we saw Foster Moreau start as the main inline tight end before Juwan Johnson slowly carved out a bigger role as a pass-catcher. Arroyo finally got five targets last week, and perhaps he could get the bye week boost that rookies often get. Cooper Kupp is looking pretty rough out there, so someone needs to emerge alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba
