Are you ready for some footballllllllll?! WE ARE! And so is everyone at Boom Fantasy. We have another great Monday Night Football slate to talk about and Boom has some great contests running tonight. Take on our team at Fantasy Alarm HERE and prove your DFS excellence!

Quarterback’s

We start off with the quarterbacks for question one and between Cam Newton and Jay Cutler, who will have more passing yards? Well Newton has averaged 219 yards per game through the air this season while Cutler sits at just 186, but those numbers are a bit skewed because Cutler left one game due to injury. Cutler is coming off his best game of the year against Oakland as he threw for 311 yards. Newton, on the other hand, has been running the ball a lot more of late, which has limited his passing yards. That said, the Oakland secondary couldn’t stop a pee-wee football team right now, so they have no chance at slowing down any of Carolina’s pass catchers either. This is a tough call, which is why they’re separated by just $100.

Rushing

With the departure of Jay Ajayi, the Dolphins leading rusher toted the rock nine times last game. Question two asks us about rushing yards, but it’s a very difficult task to try and predict what the Dolphins will do offensively. Kenyon Drake is the favorite, but outside of last game we saw him carry the ball a total of 10 times for 25 yards. Cam Newton is next on the list, and he could actually be the favorite. I mentioned in the last paragraph that he’s been running more frequently so why fix what isn’t broken? Damian Williams saw seven carries in his own right, but Drake seems more likely to be involved in the running game while Williams was primarily used as a pass catcher last week. Jon Stewart has an outside chance as well, but Christian McCaffrey had his best week running between the tackles last week and Stewart continues to cough the ball up, giving him less opportunity.

Receiving

Question three switches to the pass catchers and we have the new go-to guy in Carolina with the second highest price tag. Devin Funchess enjoyed his first game without Kelvin Benjamin snagging 5-of-7 targets for 86 yards. That’s something we should probably grow accustomed too, which is an excellent outing on a game-to-game basis. Jarvis Landry is the top dog in this question, but we saw the return of DeVante Parker take a chunk out of Landry’s workload last week. Landry has really high upside, but hasn’t eclipsed 93 yards all season long. Christian McCaffrey could be the most interesting name on this list and he’s the third highest priced player. He’s had a 100-yard receiving game already this year and has five receptions or more in five straight contests. He could easily break a screen versus a suspect Miami defense and take one the distance. Kenny Stills isn’t that intriguing to me with both Parker and Landry healthy, but he has big play potential and all he needs is one deep ball to take control of this question and win someone a lot of money.

Onto the next question, but Boom is sticking with the pass catching theme. This time it’s receptions and the players that are featured are Julius Thomas, Ed Dickson, Damien Williams and Russell Shepard. Thomas had his best game of the season last week, but he’s very hard to trust because we haven’t seen him be nearly the same player since leaving Denver a few years ago. There are a lot of mouths to suddenly feed in Miami. Dickson is a safe option and could see a bit more volume come his way with Kelvin Benjamin gone to Buffalo. Damien Williams is intriguing because as we mentioned in an earlier question, he had six catches last game and the Dolphins seem like they’re going to look to move the ball primarily through the air as opposed to on the ground, which only plays into Williams’ strengths even more. Everyone was very excited about Russell Shepard getting more opportunity once Carolina traded Benjamin but nothing really changed as he saw just two targets last time out. He could get a few more targets his way in this one, but I wouldn’t count on it.

Touchdowns

Touchdowns are always what everyone wants to talk about because they’re the root to all fantasy football success! This question is essentially a three-man race and then there is Anthony Fasano as a throw in. Jarvis Landry, who’s the favorite, scored last week to make it four times over his last five games. Christian McCaffrey is solid, but still tough because anything close to goal line Newton is seemingly the primary option, followed by Funchess and Stewart. Speaking of Funchess, we’ve already mentioned he’s the new number one receiver in Carolina and on the year and has been targeted six times in the red zone this season and that number is expected to rise drastically.

NFL/NBA Hybrid

These questions are always so interesting and the NBA guys are always the favorites. It’s not random, either, because the NBA players have the ball in their hands far more on a game-to-game basis than NFL players do, especially point-guards. Ricky Rubio opens as the favorite to hit the most three’s. It is kind of interesting if you fade Rubio here, since he’s only shooting 23-percent from three. He does have the narrative of squaring off with his old team, however. Rubio is followed by Andrew Wiggins who, in his own regards, isn’t the best three-point shooter either. The football side of things asks about passing touchdowns and Cam Newton is favored slightly over Jay Cutler. I’m not sure how I feel about that after seeing life after Jay Ajayi last week for the Dolphins. Cutler threw three touchdowns and put the ball in the air 42 times. He could be a sneaky pick here.

Receiving Yards

The final two questions both have to do with receiving yards and both are just one player. We get DeVante Parker and Devin Funchess, both who could at any point breakout for monster outings. After missing a month of action, Parker had a really nice outing catching 5-of-8 targets for 76 yards. I’ve mentioned it throughout this article that the Dolphins are throwing the ball without Ajayi and I don’t expect that to change in this matchup with Carolina. In games that Parker has finished, he’s had 69-plus receiving yards. He could eclipse 100 for the first time this year. As for Devin Funchess, we love him now and going forward for the remainder of the season. He had 86 yards last game and Miami’s secondary simply isn’t good. Look for him to put up a similar number this week around as well.
