Meatloaf is back on the menu, and with a double-hammer slammer! The units were stacked yesterday, and that familiar feeling is back with the #FAmily. The Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers lived up to the hype of Fantasy Alarm’s expectations. Perhaps the NBA should take note, as we predicted it would be the best game today, despite not being on national television. They forced overtime and ended up with a total of 250 points. However, they cleared the required total by 8.5 points in regulation, cashing the double-unit hammer before overtime.

Jonathan Kuminga was set for another great game, but just as things started to look up, he was injured. He played just nine minutes before he hobbled to the locker room, and he did not return. It was a gamble betting on a player who hasn’t played much, but it wasn’t the injury we were concerned with… Always attempt to account for unaccountable variables. Some sportsbooks may have given a free bet back; make sure to check.

The Los Angeles Clippers were up by 26 points against the Los Angeles Lakers, but Los Angeles got within two points in the fourth quarter. However, the Clippers pulled away in the last 100 seconds of the match, and secured the -1.5 spread. Proving once again that, ‘two out of three ain’t bad.’ There are eight games today, and two back on Amazon Prime Video. The first match features the first best bet of today.

NBA Best Bets Today, 1/23: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Friday

Houston Rockets vs Detroit Pistons: Friday 1/23

Game Time: 7:00 PM ET | TV: Amazon Prime Video | Location: Little Caesars Arena | Odds: DET -3.5 | O/U 216.5

The Detroit Pistons host the Houston Rockets at Little Caesars Arena in an Eastern versus Western Conference battle. The spread was at -4.5 yesterday, but has moved to -3.5 today, which is an indication that the Rockets are going to play their starters. The Rockets played in an overtime thriller against the Philadelphia 76ers yesterday and will be playing their second game in 26 hours today.

The Pistons have a few players questionable, including Cade Cunningham. However, the expectation is for him to play. Ronald Holland and Duncan Robinson are both probable, which will help add scoring and depth at forward. Although the Rockets have a tall and strong lineup, they won’t be able to bully Jalen Duren nor Isaiah Stewart. Those two will enforce their will around the basket.

This spread seems off as the Pistons are the best team in the Eastern Conference, rested, and playing at home. Houston is in the middle of the Western Conference, playing in the second of back-to-back games, and on a road-trip. Put the unit on the smart decision of -3.5 for the home team.

Denver Nuggets vs Milwaukee Bucks: Friday 1/23

Game Time: 9:30 PM ET | TV: Amazon Prime Video | Location: Fiserv Forum | Odds: MIL -6.5 | O/U 221.5

Jalen Pickett is beloved by Denver Nuggets fans, but he is relatively unknown outside of Denver and Penn State. The former Nittany Lion has been a reliable bench player who has been thrust into a lot of playing time this season. He has delivered too.

Pickett has played in 30 games this season and is averaging 2.9 rebounds per game. That may not sound promising, but playing low minutes skews the numbers. Pickett has recorded 5 or more rebounds in five consecutive games. He has also recorded 5 or more rebounds in eight of his last ten games.

The Nuggets did get Jonas Valanciunas back, but his minutes were limited. Peyton Watson was injured but did return, and he was focused on offense. He put up his career total in points (35). Pickett constantly attacks the defensive glass and positions himself between the defender and the basket. Something crucial for a guard to do if they want to rebound or at minimum draw a foul. His teammates know he can rebound the ball well, and he doesn’t count on them for help. He aggressively pursues missed field goals. Put a unit on this plus-odds best bet.

NBA Prop Bet Today, 1/23

It has been a few weeks since we mentioned Michael Porter Jr., and more specifically, bet on his point proposition. The NBA trade deadline is fast approaching, and the Brooklyn Nets have made it clear they would like to trade Porter Jr. The Warriors have made it clear that they would like to get him, but not for two first-round picks.

There are others that are interested in him as well, but all that really matters is how many points he scores against the Boston Celtics today. Porter Jr. has scored over 23.5 points once in his last four games as his production has taken a dip in January. He is being rested on back-to-back games, presumably to keep his numbers up for that potential trade.

The Celtics allow 109.8 points per game, the second fewest in the Association. The Nets scored a total of 66 points in their most recent game. The fewest points scored in an NBA game in almost a decade. However, Porter Jr. scored 12 that game, or 2 out of every 11 points. Look for him to bounce back with a good game as the leader of the team. Put a unit on our guy to deliver once again.
