The MLB DFS slate for tonight is just five games, so we are going to have to pick and choose wisely if we are going to take down a GPP tournament or just want to make sure we grind properly in our cash games. Given the match-ups and the overall slate of starting pitchers, we should have too much trouble find value bats to sprinkle in to our lineups. Pitching could be a little tougher, but certainly not impossible as we identified Kyle Bradish for everyone yesterday and look how that turned out. I’ve gone through our MLB DFS Playbook,  the MLB DFS Daily Projections and studied the pitching match-ups very closely so I have a pretty good idea as to what direction I am taking. I always recommend you take a run through our MLB DFS tools to ensure you are not leaving any stone unturned as well.

So let’s get to it.

MLB DFS Value Picks – Pitching

Matt Strahm, Philadelphia Phillies (DraftKings: $7,000; FanDuel: $9,000)

Not much of a value on FanDuel, but his DraftKings price has me salivating. If you caught my MLB Best Bets article this morning, you know I’m ready to back Strahm in this outing against the Rockies. I’m actually a little surprised his price tag is so cheap on DK, but considering he left his last start early with a cut on his thumb, perhaps their algorithms aren’t as fine-tuned as they should be. He’s healthy again and ready to take down this Rockies lineup that struggles against southpaws and is striking out 25-percent of the time. He should also see substantial run support and a strong chance at grabbing the win.

MLB DFS Value Picks – Hitting

Rodolfo Castro, SS Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings: $3,200; FanDuel: $2,300)

While any power from Castro has come against left-handed pitching, the switch-hitting infielder is still batting .286 with a .337 wOBA against righties this season and we are all about picking on Luke Weaver who many of us didn’t even remember he was still pitching in the majors. He’s just coming off some forearm inflammation and has a 5.92 ERA over his last three seasons. Lefty hitters own a career .345 wOBA against him, so I wouldn’t be against stacking a few Pirates.

Jack Suwinski, OF Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings: $2,900; FanDuel: $3,200)

And stacking them with Suwinski and Castro could be the way to go tonight, especially given the savings. For all the reasons mentioned about Weaver above, coupled with Suwinski’s .440 wOBA against right-handed pitching and three home runs over his last three games, we just can’t pass on this bargain cost. If you want to complete a solid left-handed stack with a cheap price tag, throw in Canaan Smith-Njigba as well.

Luke Williams, OF Los Angeles Dodgers (DraftKings: $2,000; FanDuel: $2,000)

He has yet to get a hit in two career big-league games, but for min-price and the win blowing out at Wrigley, we’re certainly willing to take a shot. Jameson Taillon is a solid starter and the temperatures are likely to be cold and coming off some rain, but we’re still looking at a game with an 11-run implied total and someone is going to have to do some damage. Let it be the bottom of the lineup for us.

Fernando Tatis Jr.. Jr., SS/OF San Diego Padres (DraftKings: $2,000; FanDuel: $4,500)

Saving the best for last, right?  I mean, I get that he hasn’t played at all this season and some people may question the use of PEDs during his recovery, but this is still Tatis and I have very little confidence in Ryne Nelson for the Diamondbacks. He is priced up properly on FanDuel, but the DK folks still have him listed at min-price. Whenever you are getting a player this talented for this kind of a discount, it doesn’t matter that this is his first game back. You take the savings and you run. I might not use him on FanDuel, but he will be in every lineup I create on DK today.
