DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

We have a nice medium-sized slate today, which are always interesting as there are still enough different directions to go, but also you’ll see players with high roster percentages. James Paxton and Merrill Kelly check in as the top two priced pitchers on both sites. We do not have Coors Field on the slate, so you don’t have to worry about that when setting lineups.

Recommended DFS Starting Pitchers

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

James Paxton, Boston Red Sox

Paxton has been incredible this season, scoring at least 21.3 dk points in six of his seven starts. He has at least 5 Ks in every outing and has been great of late too with at least 7 Ks in four straight outings. I don’t see any reason for that to end today and I see Paxton continuing to pitch well. He is the top play on this slate.

Jon Gray, Texas Rangers

Gray was incredible prior to his last start when he got absolutely bombarded by the Blue Jays. Will he return to the form that was scoring 20+ every start or will we see another blowup? I like him to bounce back today, this Yankees lineup (without Aaron Judge) isn’t anywhere close to the Blue Jays lineup that he faced in his last outing. He also has been way better on the road this year with a 2.02 ERA and 0.87 WHIP, compared to a 3.79 ERA and 1.22 WHIP at home.

Osvaldo Bido, Pittsburgh Pirates

Bido has looked good thus far, scoring 14.8 and 16.7 dk points in his first two starts with 6 Ks and 7 Ks. He is cheap and in a good spot today as he pitches in Miami’s pitchers park against a lackluster Marlins lineup. He probably doesn’t have a huge ceiling, but he makes for a solid p2 play at tthis price tag. I wouldn’t go this low on FD though.

Recommended DFS Hitters

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Matt Olson, 1B, Atlanta Braves

Olson is averaging 11.6 dk ppg over his last 10 games with FIVE home runs in that span and 18 total R/RBI. He is coming off a game with two home runs and he has scored at least 14 dk points in four of his past games. Today, he faces Graham Ashcraft, who has been abysmal this season with a 6.79 ERA and 1.62 WHIP. He has been horrendous at home too, with an 8.63 ERA and 1.73 WHIP.

Elly De La Cruz, 3B/SS, Cincinnati Reds

This kid has been ridiculous. Last night he hit for the cycle WITH a stolen base. He already has three home runs and seven stolen bases with 27 total R/RBI across just 15 games of action and even has a .361 average to go with it. Today, he faces Shuster who has a 4.57 ERA and 1.38 WHIP on the season, but pitching in Great American Ballpark is a whole different animal.

Randy Arozarena, OF, Tampa Bay Rays

Arozarena is hot right now, hitting .342 with a .971 OPS over his last 10 games with two dingers and 16 total R/RBI. He now has 14 home runs and nine stolen bases on the season with a .297 average. He’s been far better at home this year with a 1.008 OPS, compared to a .805 OPS on the road. The Rays are facing Jordan Lyles today and he has been abysmal this season with a 6.72 ERA and has already allowed 18 home runs.

Tommy Pham, OF, New York Mets

Pham is still hot at the dish, hitting .282 over his last 10 games with a home run and two steals. He’s also been far better on the road, hitting .267 with a .870 OPS, compared to .238 and .727 OPS at home. Five of his seven home runs this season have come against southpaws and the Mets have one of the highest implied runs totals on this slate.
