DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

Medium sized slates like this one are interesting. There are less players to consider, but still enough players (in comparison to a small slate like 4 games) to where exposure should still be spread out a good bit. Pitching has a clear-cut top option in Spencer Strider, but a few other nice options like Jordan Montgomery and Sonny Gray! We do still have some nice stack options to pick from though, so let’s dive into it all!

Recommended DFS Starting Pitchers

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Spencer Strider, Atlanta Braves

Strider is off to a great start with a 2.46 ERA and 36 strikeouts across 22 innings pitched. He is 2-0 on the season and averaging 25.8 dk points per game. The Braves are the biggest favorites on the slate and Strider is kind of a no-brainer play today as he provides elite upside that nobody on this slate can come close to matching.

Sonny Gray, Minnesota Twins

Gray has been lights-out thus far with a ridiculous 0.82 ERA and 26 strikeouts across 22 innings of work while going 2-0. He is averaging 22.5 dk points per game but he has averaged 29.5 dk points per game across his two starts at home. The Yankees are missing a few key bats and aren’t an overly scary lineup right now, so Gray should keep the good times rolling.

Colin Rea, Milwaukee Brewers

I can’t believe Rea has made his way into a recommended DFS pitcher spot for me, but he hasn’t pitched too bad thus far with a 4.22 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, and a .189 batting average against. More importantly, he is facing the Tigers today and they rank dead last in runs per game this season with a pathetic mark of 3.00. They also have the third highest strikeout rate in the league, so this is a dream matchup for pitchers right now.

Recommended DFS Hitters

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Shea Langeliers, C, Oakland Athletics

Langeliers may only be hitting .234, but he has been a bright spot in the A’s lineup as he has four home runs with 19 total R/RBI across 19 games of action. He is very cheap and has a nice matchup against Suarez. Righties have demolished Suarez this season, slashing .391/.472/.609 against him with both dingers that he has given up. The A’s are not a bad source of cheap options today with other options like Esteury Ruiz, Brent Rooker, and/or Jordan Diaz

Jorge Polanco, 2B, Minnesota Twins

Polanco has looked very good since returning off IL, going 5-13 (.385) with a home run, double, two RBI, and two runs scored across three games of action. He has a .805 OPS against righties in his career, compared to .727 against southpaws. Today he faces Jhony Brito, who isn’t overly impressive and got absolutely bombarded by the Twins when he aced them earlier this season.

Bobby Witt Jr., 3B/SS, Kansas City Royals

Witt is locked in right now, hitting .333 over his last 12 games with two home runs, four steals, and 14 total R/RBI in that span. He has a .813 OPS against lefties thus far, compared to .743 against righties. Today he faces Tommy Henry, who really struggled last season with a 5.36 ERA and 1.9 HR/9. I would consider a mini stack with Vinnie Pasquantino, who is also swinging the bat well and is underpriced right now.

Eloy Jimenez, OF, Chicago White Sox

Jimenez is starting to heat up with a 6-game hitting streak in which he has hit two home runs with six total R/RBI in that span. He has been a reverse splits guy, both this season and for his career. In his career he has a .842 OPS against righties, compared to .769 against lefties. He faces Chris Bassitt today who struggled a bit to begin the year and has given up five home runs in just 21.2 innings pitched
