Â
This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you are favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
Let's get into today's core pitching plays for our DFS lineups
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Max Fried, New York YankeesÂ
Max Fried is off to the best start of his career with a 1.78 ERA through 13 starts with the Yankees. The lefty has posted slightly above average strikeouts and his typical elite walk and groundball rates. Fried has worked at least six innings in nine of his 13 starts this year. The matchup against the Royals is also a plus, as they have been significantly below average (71 wRC+) against lefties this season. Despite the highest price tag on the slate and a lack of elite strikeouts, it is hard not to call Max Fried the top pitcher on the slate.Â
MacKenzie Gore, Washington NationalsÂ
Gore finds himself in a difficult matchup against the Mets, but he has undeniable upside as he owns the highest strikeout rate in baseball among qualified starters. He just fired seven scoreless innings and racked up seven strikeouts against the Cubs, who have been elite against lefties this season. Ownership should be kept in check by the price tag and matchup, but I have significant GPP interest given the strikeout upside and elite skills Gore has shown this season.Â
Lance McCullers, Houston Astros
McCullers has some ugly surface numbers thanks to a start against the Reds where he got blown up for seven runs and did not make it out of the first inning. He has been largely fine in his other five starts this season, and the strikeouts began to show up in a big way over his last three starts. The Astros righty gets an elite matchup against the White Sox, who rank dead last in wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Â
Chris Bassitt, Toronto Blue Jays
We are getting a discount on Chris Bassitt on DK today as the salary is below $8,000. The Jays righty is having a strong season with a 3.56 ERA through 13 starts. The strikeouts have been slightly above league average and the walks are down at a career-best 5.4%. Bassitt is coming off a gem against the Phillies, in which he tossed seven innings of one-run ball and recorded six strikeouts.Â
Griffin Canning, New York Mets
Canning is enjoying a resurgent season for the Mets in which he has posted a 2.90 ERA through 12 starts. The strikeouts have rebounded to an average 22.7% after falling below 18% last season, and the 51.2% groundball rate is the best of his career by a significant margin. The Nationals have been an average offense against righties this season, but they do take a ballpark hit traveling to Citi Field. Â
Kyle Harrison, San Francisco Giants
Harrison has made just three starts this season for the Giants, with two solid outings before getting roughed up a bit last time against the Padres. The workload has increased in each start and he was up to 87 pitches in his most recent start despite having a rough time. Coors Field is always going to add risk, but with Harrison priced at just $6,600 on DK I am willing to roll the dice in GPPs. The Rockies have been awful against lefties this season, ranking 2nd-worst in baseball with a .264 wOBA despite playing half their games in an elite hitting environment. The Rockies also strike out at the 3rd-highest rate in the league against lefties.Â
Â
Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
Let's check out today's core plays to build our lineups around.
Core MLB DFS Hitters
San Francisco Giants in Coors FieldÂ
The Giants are in an elite spot tonight as they travel to Coors Field to take on Carson Palmquist. The Rockies left-hander has been beat up for an 8.50 ERA through four starts and the peripheral stats are equally as ugly. Palmquist has managed just 16.1% strikeouts against 11.5% walks, and he has allowed 2.0 HR/9 and a 12.9% barrel rate. Heliot Ramos is the clear top target as he leads the team with a .315 ISO against lefties since last season. Wilmer Flores and Jung Hoo Lee should round out the top of the order and both have been solid against lefties this season. Unfortunately, Matt Chapman landed on the IL ahead of today's game, but that should give us another value option like Casey Schmitt to make the stack even more affordable. Â
Arizona Diamondbacks vs. Logan Evans
The Diamondbacks have been among the league's best offenses against right-handed pitching this season, as they rank 1st in ISO and 2nd in wOBA. Logan Evans is expected to draw the spot start for the Mariners. He has posted strong results in six MLB starts this season, but he has been just mediocre at the Triple-A level. The solid groundball ability he has had in the minors has not shown up in the big leagues, and his strikeout rate is down at 17.4%. Corbin Carroll and Ketel Marte are elite options for the D-backs, with each owning an ISO above .360 against righties this season. Eugenio Suarez is also above .300 ISO and his 25% strikeouts should be less of an issue against the low strikeout ability of Evans. Geraldo Perdomo, Josh Naylor, Lourdes Gurriel and Pavin Smith all have strong results with an ISO of at least .160 against righties.Â
Los Angeles Angels vs. Mitch SpenceÂ
The Angels are a boom or bust offense with legit power and also far too many strikeouts. That strikeout problem should be mitigated today against Mitch Spence. who owns just a 21.7% strikeout rate this season with most of his work coming out of the bullpen. The Angels rank 6th in ISO against right-handed pitching despite being without Mike Trout for a long stretch. Taylor Ward leads the team with a .280 ISO against righties, while Zach Neto, Logan O'Hoppe and Jo Adell are all above .200 ISO. Nolan Schanuel has a strong .352 wOBA against righties despite below average power.Â
Tampa Bay Rays vs. Lucas GiolitoÂ
Red Sox starter Lucas Giolito has allowed at least 6 earned runs in three of his seven starts this season. His other starts have been quite solid, but who knows which version we get showing up in Fenway today. His strikeout rate is all the way down at 18% and he has allowed a troubling 45.5% hard-hit rate. The 11.5% barrel rate allowed to lefties could get him in real trouble today against Rays like Brandon Lowe and Jonathan Aranda, who both own an ISO above .200 against righties this season. Junior Caminero leads the Rays with a .285 ISO and Giolito hasn't exactly limited damage against righties either. Â
Cal Raleigh vs. Brandon Pfaadt
It has been a rough season for D-backs righty Brandon Pfaadt. He has struggled to a 5.51 ERA through 13 starts and seen his strikeout rate dip all the way to 17.8%. Even when Pfaadt was on the verge of breaking out last season he still had issues with lefty power. This season he has struggled with power issues to both sides of the plate, but lefties have barreled him at an obscene 14.9% rate. Enter MLB home run leader Cal Raleigh, who will swing from the left side against Pfaadt and owns a ridiculous .394 ISO against righties this season. If looking for a cheaper option, Rowdy Tellez profiles really well in this matchup as well.Â
The Other Coors Field TeamÂ
The Colorado Rockies are bad, historically bad. But they remain DFS relevant thanks to playing their home games in Coors Field. They are facing an inexperienced lefty in the best hitting environment in the league, and they do have some intriguing bats in the lineup. Jordan Beck (.271 ISO) and Hunter Goodman (.206 ISO) represent legitimate power threats against lefties, and Brenton Doyle (.432 wOBA) has been a good hitter with great speed. Ryan Ritter has played just three career MLB games, but he did swat 16 home runs in 245 Triple-A plate appearances.Â
