Our team of experts has poured over the matchups, stats, and trends to bring you a curated selection of top plays and value picks to help you build winning lineups.Â
Whether you’re chasing big GPP prizes or looking to cash in head-to-heads, we’ve got you covered with insights designed to give you an edge. Let’s dive into today’s slate and get ready to crush it!
Â
This season's MLB DFS picks and playbook will consist of a pitcher and hitter core players section with written analysis, player pool grid and core stacks section.
The core player section should be used as a starting point for all lineups, you may not be able to use all players in the same lineup, but those players should be the building blocks for you on a given night.
The player pool grid will feature both players from the core player section along with additional plays to help you build a complete lineup. The grid will be broken into top priced players, mid-priced players and value tier players.
The stacks section will bring you our favorite lineups stacks for the day and which players we would look to include in those stacks based on matchups and pricing.
There will also be a daily MLB DFS Show with a variety of hosts ranging from myself, Jon Impemba, Howard Bender, and James Grande. The MLB DFS Show will give you an initial outlook on the day's MLB DFS slate and should give you a good base for the start of your research each day!Â
Make sure you subscribe to the Fantasy Alarm YouTube channel so you never miss a show! Also, join the Fantasy Alarm Discord to get your DFS lineup questions answered by our MLB DFS team! MLB Weather: Monday, 6/2
No major weather concerns today. Wind is blowing out 10+ MPH in West Sacramento for Twins vs. Athletics.
Â
Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers
A shorter slate means we may have to eat some chalk at pitcher, and it is hard to argue against Jack Flaherty in an elite matchup. But that does not mean there aren't some great tournament pivots available, so let's see what we can find.Â
Core MLB DFS Pitchers
Joe Ryan, Minnesota Twins
Joe Ryan has posted excellent results so far this season, with a 2.47 ERA. The underlying skills have been elite with his strikeout rate sitting at 29.8% and his walk rate at 3.7%. There is some risk here as Ryan has to deal with a ballpark downgrade and a powerful A's lineup, but there is is plenty of upside as well. The Twins righty has worked through the sixth inning in five of his last six starts and is a strong -165 favorite.Â
Logan Webb, San Francisco Giants
Logan Webb has posted an excellent 2.82 ERA this season and has dazzling peripherals to go along with it. Estimators like SIERA and xFIP have him as an even better pitcher than his sub-3 ERA suggests. Webb has posted the highest strikeout rate (27.9%) of his career thus far while maintaining elite ground ball and walk rates. The matchup is not perfect, but the Padres offense is lacking power outside of Fernando Tatis.Â
Jack Flaherty, Detroit Tigers
Flaherty should be extremely popular in this spot versus the White Sox, who rank dead last in wOBA and 2nd-worst in ISO against right-handed pitching this season. They are not a great matchup for strikeouts, but Flaherty should be able to offset that given his slate-leading 29.9% strikeout rate. It is an excellent run prevention spot for Flaherty, as the White Sox have only two hitters in the projected lineup with an ISO above .150 against righties this season.Â
Dustin May, Los Angeles Dodgers
Dustin May might finally be fully healthy after dealing with a multitude of injuries over the past few seasons. The Dodgers righty has recorded at least eight strikeouts in each of his last three starts, while posting a 36.8% strikeout rate and 7.4% walk rate. His matchup against the Mets is not ideal, but that should keep him significantly lower-owned than top tier options like Joe Ryan and Jack Flaherty. I am willing to roll the dice on May here given the recent uptick in strikeouts and the significant ownership discount. Â
Aaron Civale, Milwaukee Brewers
Civale has made just three starts after dealing with a hamstring injury to begin the season, and his pitch count has been limited in his return. Those factors are contributing to a slate-low price tag for Civale against Cincinnati. The Reds have been an average offense against righties, but they also own the 6th-highest strikeout rate in the league. Despite a potentially limited pitch count again and a tough ballpark for a flyball pitcher, Civale has as much upside as anyone priced below Dustin May.Â
Â
Recommended MLB DFS Hitters
The Red Sox, Tigers and Dodgers boast implied team totals north of five runs, and we have solid hitting weather in a great hitter's park in West Sacramento for the Twins vs. Athletics.Â
Core MLB DFS Hitters
Shohei Ohtani (and Friends) vs. Paul BlackburnÂ
Paul Blackburn gets a nightmare landing spot for his season debut against the elite Dodgers offense. Blackburn has leaned towards reverse splits in his career, but that doesn't prevent Shohei Ohtani from being the top bat on the slate. Ohtani owns an absurd .404 ISO and .442 wOBA against right-handed pitching this season. Freddie Freeman is also an elite option, with his .296 ISO and .490 wOBA against righties. Teoscar Hernandez and Andy Pages possess plenty of pop from right side, and Max Muncy has turned his season around after struggling to begin the campaign. Â
Boston Red Sox vs. Tyler AndersonÂ
Something's gotta give in this matchup today, specifically Boston's elite lefties against Tyler Anderson. The Angels southpaw has been destroyed by lefties this season with a massive .303 ISO and 11.3% barrel rate allowed. Unfortunately, Jarren Duran and Rafael Devers have had their share of struggles against lefties since the beginnings of last season. Duran has posted just a .089 ISO and .286 wOBA against lefties, while Devers has been at .142 ISO and .322 wOBA in that time. At least Devers has a strong .375 wOBA against lefties this season, but the power is still lacking. The matchup is too good to care about the down power numbers. Carlos Narvaez as a value option at catcher and Trevor Story with a long track record of lefty dominance would be the top options form the right side. Also, Rob Refsnyder has been an elite platoon bat since last season, with a .268 ISO and .406 wOBA against lefties.Â
Detroit Tigers vs. Jonathan CannonÂ
The Tigers get a plus matchup against the low strikeouts of Jonathan Cannon. Kerry Carpenter, Riley Greene and Spencer Torkelson all own an ISO above .200 against righties this season. Colt Keith has been hitting much better of late and is still priced in the value tier, while Javier Baez is enjoying a resurgent season with a .200 ISO against righties. The stack is very affordable and allows you to spend up to the elite pitching on the slate.Â
Minnesota Twins vs. Luis SeverinoÂ
Luis Severino has done an excellent job keeping the ball off the barrel, but he has also posted a strikeout rate below 18% which is the lowest of his career. He is bound to run into trouble eventually if he continues to allow that much contact. Severino also has some drastic home/road splits this season, as he has allowed a 6.20 ERA at home and just a 0.87 ERA on the road. All four of the home runs he has allowed this season have come in Sutter Health Park. Byron Buxton, Matt Wallner and Kody Clemens each own an ISO of at least .248 against righties dating back to last season. Trevor Larnach and Ryan Jeffers also have plenty of pop. The offense will enjoy the best hitting conditions of the day in the hitter friendly Sutter Health Park.Â
Christian Yelich vs. Brady SingerÂ
Brady Singer has had a lefty power problem throughout his career. Since the beginning of last season, Singer has allowed a .196 ISO and 12.1% barrel rate to lefty swingers. Christian Yelich is in a great position to take advantage of that today in an elite home run park. Yelich owns a .222 ISO against righties since last season.Â
