Alex Green, RB (GB)--With teammate Cedric Benson expected to miss eight weeks with a Lisfranc foot injury, Alex Green will get the opportunity to start at running back for the Packers. After Benson went down last week Green filled-in rushing for 55 yards on nine carries and was even used in the passing game, collecting one reception for eight yards. James Starks will also factor into the running back equation once healthy, but he has had problems with injuries since becoming a professional. Green has seen limited playing time since being drafted in the third round of the 2011 NFL Draft, but he was very successful at the University of Hawaii where he caught the eye of many NFL teams. He is a must-add for those you own Benson, especially since his injury could become season-ending, and those in need of running back depth in standard leagues should give him a look for short-term help. Jahvid Best, RB (DET)--The Lions are hopeful that Jahvid Best will be in the running back mix over the next few weeks, but he will have to go through a battery of tests to determine if he can be activated off of the Physically Unable to Perform list. As of now it doesn’t look like he will be able to play this week against the Eagles with the hope that he returns for their Week 7 game against the Bears. There is a chance that he is on the waiver-wire in many leagues after starting the season on the PUP list, and if he is, he is a solid add at this point before he gets his medical clearance to return to football activities. Starting running back Mikel LeShoure has had mixed results since taking over the role, so there is a good chance Best will have a heavy workload once back in action. He is a must-add in deep leagues and could become a solid PPR-league starter in most formats. William Powell, RB (ARI)--The Cardinals lost Ryan Williams for the season on Monday after he suffered a shoulder injury in the team’s Week 5 loss to the Rams. With Beanie Wells already on the shelf for at least four more weeks, the team will need others to step up in the running game and William Powell has the most upside out of the remaining running backs. He has just three carries on the season, but showed a lot of promise this preseason making me believe the Cardinals will give him a shot to see if he can carry the workload. Both Alfonso Smith and LaRod Stephens-Howling with factor into the running game while the team searches for the right mix to be productive, but both are not starting running back material. If you are either looking for a replacement for Williams or just looking for running back depth, my money is on Powell to breakout and make the best of the situation if given the opportunity. Devery Henderson, WR (NO)--The Saints were without wide receiver Lance Moore on Sunday night, but it wasn’t as issue as Devery Henderson fill-in opposite Marques Colston finishing with eight receptions for 123 yards and one touchdown. Henderson was targeted 10 times in the Saints win over the Chargers which were the second-most targets on the team. Henderson has shown the ability to have big games over the last few years, but never was able to show any consistency often landing him on the waiver-wire throughout fantasy leagues. This time around may be different, but he will need Moore to remain sidelined to really build off of this performance. The Saints are off this upcoming week, which will give Moore an extra week to get healthy before the team returns in Week 7 limiting Henderson’s upside. With that said he is still worth adding since both Moore and Colston have been known for suffering injuries, so even if he doesn’t start in Week 7, he could have fantasy value moving forward. Jordon Norwood, WR (CLE)--Since joining the Browns in Week 4, Norwood has been heavily involved in the team’s passing game and has now hauled in 13 receptions over the last two games. What is even more impressive is that he was able to convert all nine targets in Week 5 into nine receptions for 81 yards in the Browns loss to the Giants. Teammate Josh Gordon overshadowed Norwood’s performance hauling in two touchdowns in the game, but he was only able to haul in two of his eight targets, which may discourage quarterback Brandon Weeden from looking his way in the future. Norwood has shown the ability of be a decent play in PPR-leagues in his young career and if he continues down this road he is going to become a fantasy asset in all league formats. As Weeden continues to grow as will Norwood’s role in the Browns offense, so give him a look if you are in need of depth as the wide receiver position. Rueben Randle, WR (NYG)--The Giants have gone through many injuries at the wide receiver position through the first five weeks of the season, which has opened the door for other players to step up and increase their roles in the offense. Last week the team was without both Hakeem Nicks and Ramses Barden but it wasn’t a factor as both Rueben Randle and Domenik Hixon filled-in and produced well. Randle led the Giants with nine targets, finishing with six receptions for 82 yards averaging 13.7 yards per reception. The availability of both Nicks and Barden will likely be determined later in the week for the Giants game against the 49ers which will determine Randle’s role in the offense moving forward. Last week marked the first game in which he recorded more than one catch in a game, so that game should have proven to Eli Manning that he can get the job done when needed. At this point all Giants wide receivers are worth owning due to the injury history of all of them, so Randle is worth a shot as he has shown the ability to play a big role in the Giants’ offense. Dwayne Allen, TE (IND)--There has been a lot of hype around the relationship between Coby Fleener and Andrew Luck, but it is Dwayne Allen who should be drawing the attention of fantasy players alike. Allen was drafted in the second round of this year’s NFL Draft after both Luck and Fleener and has produced well through his first four games as a professional. The first two week’s he finished with just one reception and touchdown, but since then he has hauled in nine receptions and a touchdown making him a solid add moving forward. It has been proven time-and-time again that young quarterbacks love to target their tight ends, and this situation is no different. Even if he doesn’t get a lot of targets it appears that Luck is looking Allen’s way once in the red zone, which gives him plenty of fantasy value moving forward. Ryan Tannehill, QB (MIA)--The Dolphins are playing inspired football and have been in every game since a blowout loss to the Texans in Week 1 and a lot of the credit has to go to rookie quarterback Ryan Tannehill. When considering his upcoming schedule, he is matched up against the Rams, Jets, Colts, Titans and Bills over his next five games, which makes him a solid pickup to use as a bye-week fill-in. He won’t blow anyone away with his numbers, but he has been able to build a good relationship with his receiving core and that will only continue to get better as he gets more games under his belt. I am not saying he is a must-add at this point, but if you are in need of help over the next few weeks he has some favorable matchups upcoming that can be exploited.
