We're BACK for another week breaking down Boom Fantasy's Monday Night Football slate! We have a JUICY game between the Eagles and Redskins that features a monster 48.5 implied point total, second on the entire Week 7 slate. As always, if you'd like to play against the Fantasy Alarm team, follow this link HERE to do so! Let's jump right into it!
QB’s
Although Carson Wentz sits 11 in the NBA in passing yards, nine spots ahead of Kirk Cousins, Cousins is averaging three yards per game more than Wentz is on the year. This game projects as a shootout as it entered Week 7 with the second highest total on the board. The Redskins will be without both Josh Norman and Bashaud Breeland in their secondary, which will have Wentz licking his chops all game long. The flipped of this game is that the Eagles have allowed the ninth most passing yards in football. You like that, Kirk Cousins?! This is essentially a toss up, hence why they’re only $100 apart. Close your eyes, flip a coin, it’s too close to call.
RB’s
For question number two, we’re asked who will have the most rushing yards between LeGarette Blount, Robert Kelley, Chris Thompson and Wendell Smallwood. Both Thompson and Smallwood have the upside to win this question, but are more of the team’s pass catching backs. Blount’s 70 attempts on the year is 15 more than anybody else on these two teams and the player within 15 attempts — Semaj Perine — isn’t involved in the question!
Receiving
Anything involving Zach Ertz right now is going to be awfully hard to pick against him as he’s involved in question three. Will Ertz out gain Vernon Davis, Jordan Reed and Torrey Smith in yards, There’s a chance he’s surpassed, sure, but there is a reason as to why he’s the favorite in this question. Smith has big play upside, especially with the Redskins down two corners. Reed hasn’t shown the upside he has in years past and Vernon Davis seems like an afterthought as well.
Who, between Alshon Jeffery, Nelson Agholor, Jamison Crowder and Terrelle Pryor, will have the most receptions is what we’re being asked for question four. Pryor paces the Redskins offense in targets this year, so it wouldn’t be shocking if he pulled it out here, which would in turn give you the most points you could get for this question. In terms of Eagles receivers, Jeffery has 18 more targets than Agholor, but the latter is catching them at a way better percentage as he’s just four receptions behind Jeffery.
Touchdowns
Another question with Zach Ertz involved, but this one makes you think a little more. I didn’t say a lot, but definitely a little. For as big of a TD vulture Blount was last season, punching it into the end zone 18 times, he only has two this year and one of them is through the air. The potential for an explosion is obviously there, but Carson Wentz has had different ideas in the red zone than to turn around and hand it off to his back big. Chris Thompson is one touch of the football away from taking it to the house, so he’s definitely a nice GPP play in this one, posing the biggest threat to Ertz.
NFL/NBA/Hybrid
With baseball in the final stages of it’s season, we have two basketball players in the question now. We’re asking about passing touchdowns in our football question, but three-pointers made for the basketball one. I can tell you right now, Yogi Farrell is the longest of shots. Dennis Smith Jr. is back for Dallas which likely bumps Farrell to the bench for this contest. We’ve mentioned along the way of this breakdown that this total for Washington and Philly is 48.5 so it’s a real crapshoot at QB as to who will throw more TD’s. Wentz leads Cousins by four this year, but has the one game advantage, so who knows if they’d be tied or not. Both are safe plays if you want to go that direction. Kevin Durant made three-pointers is the favorite here, however, but he is playing in a really slow paced game versus Dallas which ultimately hurts the amount of possessions the Warriors will get in this one.
Receiving Yards
For the final two questions, we’re asking about single player receiving yards, per usual. In this case, Chris Thompson and Alshon Jeffery’s. Thompson averaged 68 yards per game on the year receiving. He has seven receptions that have gone for at least 20 yards to boot. The Eagles have a really good front seven that may be able to impact Thompson as he comes out of the backfield. Jeffery, on the other hand, is poised for a breakout game. Jeffery has caught just two passes over 20 yards this year after making the early stages of his career off of catching the deep ball. Without Josh Norman guarding him in this one, Jeffery seems like he’s going to make a bid at his first 100-yard contest this week.
