Fantasy Football Week 7 Waiver Advice

Week 6 of the fantasy football season is in the books but it wasn’t without its casualties as fantasy owners saw some big names like Ben Roethlisberger and Terrell Pryor go down with news already Roethlisberger has been ruled out for Week 7 and Pryor’s status along with a few other notable names being up in the air for the coming week.  In Week 7 we also see the Dallas Cowboys and Carolina Panthers on their bye weeks which certainly will leave some owners looking towards the waiver wire for some replacement players so with that said let’s take a look at who on the waiver wire can help your team for this upcoming week.

-FAAB bids based off of $100 budget

Quarterback

Brian Hoyer, CHI- Brian Hoyer finally had that “let down” game that everybody was expecting and by “let down” I mean he threw for 300 yards for the fourth straight game but failed to throw a touchdown pass which limited his overall scoring output.  He still completed over 60 percent of his throws and once again did not turn the ball over.  In Week 7 the Bears will be traveling to Green Bay to play the Thursday night game which will likely have some hesitant to play Hoyer because of the short week but Green Bay’s secondary is beat up right now and they are allowing the 10th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season.  Hoyer is only owned in 20 percent of standard leagues and if you find yourself in need of a replacement due to bye weeks or injuries to guys like Ben Roethlisberger he is worth the grab.

FAAB Bid $10-$15

Marcus Mariota, Ten- Mariota is on a roll right now, having throwing six touchdown passes over the past two weeks while adding over 60 yards rushing in each contest as well to boost his overall production.  In Week 7 the Titans will have a home game against the Colts who are allowing the ninth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season and in his lone game against the Colts as a rookie he threw for 367 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions.  The Titans offense will continue to lean heavily on their running game which should open up the passing lanes for Mariota in Week 7.

FAAB Bid $10-$15

Colin Kaepernick, SF-  I am far from trusting Kaepernick after how much of a disaster he was in 2015 but he turned in a decent fantasy effort in Week 6 in terms of overall production as he threw for 187 yards and a touchdown while adding 66 yards on the ground rushing.  Kaepernick completed a miserable 45 percent of his passes against the Bills and his touchdown pass was a deep ball to Torrey Smith on a defensive lapse by Buffalo so as you can see I am not giving him too much credit here but injuries to Ben Roethlisberger and bye weeks for Cam Newton and Dak Prescott could have some owners looking for a replacement.  The 49ers have a home contest against the Buccaneers in Week 7 who had allowed at least two touchdown passes in each of the first four weeks of the season before stifling Derek Anderson and the Panthers in Week 6.  Kaepernick’s running ability, the Chip Kelly offense and the matchup make him at least an intriguing play for Week 7 but I’m not buying in for much more than that.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Running Back

Jay Ajayi, MIA- It should be no real surprise to see Ajayi as the top running back to add heading into Week 7 as he is coming off a career game which saw him rush for 204 yards and two touchdowns against the Steelers in Week 6.  With news that Arian Foster is still not 100 percent healthy the Dolphins should continue to feature Ajayi although fantasy owners know how unreliable Miami has been when it comes to their running backs after their refusal to involve Lamar Miller more over the past few years.  In Week 7 the Dolphins will face a Bills defense that ranks right in the middle of the pack when it comes to fantasy points allowed to opposing running backs but Ajayi should get a decent chunk of carries which will be beneficial for his fantasy production.

FAAB Bid-$20-$25

Devontae Booker, Den – The Broncos are still rolling with C.J. Anderson as their lead back but Booker has been cutting into his snaps of late and has looked like the better runner in recent weeks as well which have led many to believe the takeover is happening sooner rather than later.  In Week 6 Booker carried that ball five times for 46 yards and added two catches for seven yards while Anderson carried the ball 10 times for 37 yards and added four catches for 34.  If you pick up Booker it should be for stash purposes or as a flex play in deeper formats this week with hopes that he finds himself as the starter soon.

FAAB Bid- $10-$15

Knile Davis, GB- With Eddie Lacy still dealing with an ankle injury and James Starks on the shelf for the next few weeks the Packers went and traded for Davis on Tuesday.  Lacy was still able to suit up in Week 6 and had a decent game despite being noticeably hobbled.  With Green Bay playing in the Thursday game there is a real chance that Lacy might not be able to go which gives Davis at least some immediate value.  Davis is a legitimate home run threat but the Chiefs never really trusted him as their every down back when Charles was injured however if he finds himself as the only active back on Thursday against the Bears he couldend up with a solid fantasy night.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Wide Receiver

Kenny Britt, LA – The Rams passing attack in 2016 is far from being the “Greatest Show on Turf” but Case Keenum and Kenny Britt certainly did their best imitation of that in Week 6 with Britt catching 7-of-8 targets for 136 yards and two touchdowns.  Britt has flown under the radar in most formats because the Rams offense is rather uninspiring but if you take a closer look you will realize that after Sunday’s performance Britt is now averaging five catches on nearly seven targets for 82 yards a game this season.  Even prior to his breakout game against the Lions he had receiving games of 67, 94, 38, 82 and 75 yards while catching at least four passes in each contest so the value has really been here all along.  In Week 7 the Rams will be at home against a Giants defense that is allowing the 13th most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season and are dealing with injuries to their secondary so Brit should have a relatively solid floor with the upside for another big game if he can take advantage of the Giants defense.

FAAB Bid- $5-$10

Cameron Meredith, Chi- This is your last call on Meredith as the Bears receiver turned in his second straight 100 yard game in Week 6 while hauling in 11 catches which were both team highs.  He is owned in just 30 percent of standard leagues and draws a beat up Packers secondary in Week 7 who are allowing the fifth most fantasy points to opposing wide receivers this season.

FAAB Bid- $10-$15

Pierre Garcon, Wsh – Garcon has been a consistent contributor for the Redskins all season, having seen at least seven targets in four of six games this season which includes his season high 11 target game against the Eagles in Week 6.  Garcon on the year is averaging about five catches on seven targets for 50 yards a game this season which is viable in PPR formats and if Jordan Reed continues to be sidelined with a concussion he could find himself again as the Redskins leading receiver come Week 7 against a Lions defense that is allowing the sixth most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

Tight End

Hunter Henry, SD- The return of Antonio Gates in Week 5 actually saw some owners cut bait on Henry as his ownership levels fell below 50 percent but with news that Gates is still not 100 percent and the fact that Henry lit up the Broncos secondary for 83 yards and a touchdown he should figure to be the top added player at the position this week.  Henry has now found the end zone in three straight weeks and over the last four weeks he has totaled 18 catches on 24 targets for 290 yards which ranks him among the top fantasy producers at the position.  In Week 7 he draws an incredibly favorable matchup against a Falcons defense that is allowing the third most fantasy points to opposing tight ends which should lead to another top scoring week by Henry.

FAAB Bid $10-$15

Jack Doyle, Ind – You have heard this story before but Dwayne Allen is hurt and therefore Jack Doyle re-enters the fantasy picture.  In Week 6 Doyle caught four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown against the Texans and figures to be the Colts starting tight end in Week 7 against the Titans with Allen being ruled week-to-week.  Doyle started off the season strong with Allen out but disappeared over the previous two weeks before Allen’s injury in Week 6.  Doyle is less than 10 percent owned in standard leagues so if you own Allen you should pick Doyle back up.

FAAB Bid- $0-$5

C.J. Fiedorowicz, Hou – Fiedorowicz has really become a key part of the Texans passing attack over the past three weeks as he has totaled 14 catches on 20 targets for 194 yards and two touchdowns during that span.  With Will Fuller dealing with a hamstring injury and opposing defenses making sure that DeAndre Hopkins is well covered it appears as if Brock Oswieler is developing chemistry with his tight end.  Given how shallow the position is Fiedorowicz is certainly a player to add this week.
