Bulls executive VP Arturas Karnisovas said the team's "objective is to get the best version of Lauri next year."
Karnisovas said he's spoken to Markkanen, who is "disappointed" by the results of his 2019-20 season. Coach Jim Boylen often minimized his role and undermined his confidence, yielding career-low averages of 14.7 points on 42.5% shooting, 6.3 rebounds and 0.5 blocks.
