PGA DFS Coverage: 2022 RSM Classic Preview
PGA DFS Coverage for the RSM Classic
Everything seems to slow down in the south, especially in the state of Georgia where the PGA Tour heads this weekend. As this state prepares for a runoff election, they’ll get a break from the politics to watch some great golf. The RSM Classic is hosted by Sea Island Golf Club on St. Simons Island in the Peach state. The tournament is played over two courses on this beautiful facility. The tour weakens for our last full field event of the 2022 calendar year.
The Field: The RSM Classic
Last week’s champion Tony Finau leads a field that features just one player inside the Top-25 of the world golf rankings but there are six inside the Top-40. I will say that despite seeing a lot of weak fields in this fall portion of the PGA Tour season, we’ve seen some good competitive golf. The mixture of young talent and veteran grinders have produced drama over the weekend. This event should not be looked past, the tournament has come down to a playoff in four of its last six editions. Alongside Mr. Finau, we’ve got two other winners already this season like Mackenzie Hughes and Seamus Power. Some young names to keep an eye on this weekend would be Taylor Montgomery, Will Gordon, Taylor Pendrith, Alex Smalley, Callum Tarren, Brandon Wu, and Dylan Wu.
The Courses: Seaside & Plantation Courses
The event is played over two courses at the Sea Island Golf Club. First, we have the Seaside course which is a par 70 and measures out to just 7,005 yards from the championship tees. Then the Plantation course, a par-72, that stretches out to 7,060 yards. Both of these courses are played on really fast Bermuda grass and they are true ocean tracks on the southern tip of the island. You’ll see all the traditional links course staples like ocean vistas, tidal creeks, dunes and salt marshes throughout the course. Each of the players will play both the Plantation and Seaside courses over Thursday and Friday but then the tournament will be decided on the Seaside course over the weekend.
The Weather: St. Simons Island, Georgia
The weather looks to be pretty good this weekend with weather in the upper 50s and tickling the low 60s. There is no rain in the forecast for most of the weekend but there is a 50 percent chance on Sunday. The winds are projected to be calm for Sea Island in the low-teens throughout the tournament.
How To Watch the Cadence Bank Houston Open
It will be quite easy to follow this event once again on television. You will see coverage on Thursday and Friday from 12-3pm ET on the Golf Channel and then 1-4pm ET over the weekend.
