Welcome to the fantasy hockey waiver wire report! As usual, every week, the weekly waiver wire report will help you target some players that you should be adding, or monitoring, on the waiver wire. You’ll want to check back through the week to see if players are added. The fantasy hockey season is a long one, but staying on top of the waiver wire will most certainly help keep your team competitive. Let’s see who we should be targeting this week.

Alex Tuch - Vegas Golden Knights - Winger

Did you know that Alex Tuch is tied for the team lead in goals with Max Pacioretty? Probably not, because Tuch is only 38% owned in Yahoo! Leagues, and that’s a problem. The 24-year-old is scoring goals while playing on the third line and seeing second power play minutes. He needs to be over 50% owned in all formats, including shallow leagues. If he’s still on the waiver wire, stop reading this, and go add him. I’ll wait.

Conor Sheary - Washington Capital - Winger

Conor Sheary continues to see time on the top line with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin, but that hasn’t translated to much. He’s pointless in his last three games, but he played over 18-minutes in the last two games, and continues to see time on the second power play unit. With Tom Wilson out of the lineup for the next seven games because he can’t learn to not throw dangerous hits, Sheary isn’t going to have any competition for that top spot. Even if he slides down to the second line, that’s still not a terrible thing. He’s very much available on ESPN and Yahoo!, so if you need an extra forward this week, he’s an option to consider.

Dylan Cozens -Buffalo Sabres - Winger/Center

Buffalo is a terrible city to visit, and now their team is just as bad. They should be good, but their top players are just not playing well, and at some point, either Ralph Krueger gets fired, or this team figures it out. I know we talked about Dylan Cozens in a previous waiver wire report, but the rookie is back on the top line with Taylor Hall and Jack Eichel. Both Hall and Eichel need to start scoring goals, and fast, because so far this season, they’ve been a hot mess. Dylan Cozens should be in the lineup, and in the top six. Forget the Jeff Skinner and Kyle Okposo experiments and let the kid showcase his skill. The rookie has played over 15-minutes the last two games, and is seeing some time on the second power play unit. This is a long shot add here, but come on, Buffalo can’t stink for the entire season, right?

Thatcher Demko - Vancouver Canucks - Goalie

Since March 1st, Thatcher Demko has three wins, a shutout, and only given two goals. Two of those wins came against TSN’s favourite team to talk about: the Toronto Maples Leafs. It’s no secret that the 25-year-old is much better than Braden Holtby, and maybe the Canucks are starting to realize that too. Holtby has played only played two of the last seven games, and he was #NotGood in those starts. Demko is still only 50% owned in Yahoo! leagues, so there’s a 50/50 chance he’s still on your waiver wire, and if he is, you need to add him. The tide might be turning here, and we need to get on board before it’s too late.

Cam Fowler - Anaheim Ducks - Defence

I’m just going to leave Cam Fowler here until his ownership hits at least 10% on Yahoo! Over the last 14 days, The Ducks defenceman has a goal and eight assists, which isn’t anything elite, but let’s not forget that he plays in Anaheim, a team that is 30th in GF/GP. He’s 7% owned, and I can’t wrap my head around why. He’s not going to wow anyone with hits or blocked shots, but there are lots of below-average defencemen that can fill those categories. Fowler deserves to be on a team in deeper formats.
