NFL DFS Week 12 QB Coach: Drake Maye, Jalen Hurts, Shedeur Sanders
As Week 12 of the NFL season barrels toward us, we know that the quarterback position remains the ultimate game-changer, capable of catapulting your lineup to glory or sinking it into oblivion. In this week's QB Coach, we break down the top picks poised for explosive performances, underrated values that could deliver massive ROI, and the fades you should steer clear of to avoid costly pitfalls. Spotlighting rising star Drake Maye, dual-threat dynamo Jalen Hurts, and the highly anticipated NFL starting debut of Shedeur Sanders, I'll equip you with the insights needed to dominate your DFS contests and stack those winnings.
NFL DFS QB Top Tier Picks for NFL Week 12
Drake Maye, QB, New England Patriots
Maye has been one of the best QBs in football this season, leading the league with 2,836 yards passing with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions. He’s also added 282 yards and two more scores on the ground. In Week 12, the Patriots are on the road against a Bengals defense that is allowing the second-most passing yards per game to their opponents this season. Maye is the top-priced QB on DraftKings, but that likely doesn’t keep him from being highly rostered this weekend as well.
Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles
The drama surrounding the Philadelphia Eagles' offense might solve itself, at least for one week, as the Eagles host the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys are allowing the third-most passing yards per game to their opponent this season, and they also allow the 9th most rushing yards per game to their opponent. Unfortunately for them, Jalen Hurts can do both really well. There is absolutely the potential for a multi-passing touchdown game and a multi-rushing touchdown game in this matchup.
Jared Goff, QB, Detroit Lions
We love Jared Goff when he’s playing in his home stadium, and this weekend that home matchup comes at the expense of the New York Giants. The Giants' defense has really struggled this season, and Goff has the offensive weapons in Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams to put up a multi-touchdown game. What may even benefit Goff more in this game is the fact that the Giants may have Jaxson Dart back, and if Dart can put some points on the board, we may have a sneaky high-scoring matchup on our hands.
NFL DFS QB Mid-Tier Picks for NFL Week 12
Sam Darnold, QB, Seattle Seahawks
I don’t really care that the Seahawks are on the road this weekend and playing on the East Coast because the Tennessee Titans' defense just isn’t that good. Yes, we expect to see Seattle run the football and run the football a lot this weekend, but Darnold is also very capable of throwing for two to three touchdowns in this matchup as he targets JSN and gets more comfortable throwing to Rasheed Shaheed against this exploitable secondary.
Jacoby Brissett, QB, Arizona Cardinals
Whelp, when you COMPLETE 47-of-57 passes in a single game, you earn yourself a spot in the QB coach. I was skeptical last week once Marvin Harrison was ruled out, but that ended up not mattering whatsoever as Brissett picked apart the 49ers' defense. This week, the Cardinals are at home against a Jacksonville Jaguars defense that allows the seventh-most passing yards per game this season.
NFL DFS QB Value Picks for NFL Week 12
Shedeur Sanders, QB, Cleveland Browns
Whelp, the time has finally come. Sanders is going to make his NFL starting debut this week against the Las Vegas Raiders. We saw Sanders make his official debut last week in relief of the injured Dillon Gabriel, and it wasn’t too pretty as he completed just 4-of-16 passes with an interception. That said, Sanders is going to have a full week of practice with the starting unit, with a playbook built specifically for him and a game plan to attack a Raiders defense that allows 25.3 points per game to their opponent and a 67.7% completion percentage to opposing QBs. Sanders has a big arm, and he’s going to take some shots in this game. Maybe he has a coming-out party against Las Vegas this weekend.
Tyrod Taylor, QB, New York Jets
The Jets are going back to Tyrod Taylor this weekend as their starting QB after Justin Fields struggled to throw the football against the Patriots last Thursday. While Taylor isn’t the threat to run the football like Fields, he does have some rushing upside and is the more polished passer of the football. He’s cheap and worth a dart throw, even with the limited offensive weapons the Jets have available right now.
Kirk Cousins, QB, Atlanta Falcons
Michael Penix is done for the season, which means Cousins has the rest of the year to prove he’s worthy of a starting job in the NFL next year. That said, he was just 6-of-14 last week for 48 yards against the Panthers and was just 21-of-31 for 173 yards in his lone start against the Dolphins this season. Maybe with additional reps under his belt this week, he can find success against this weak Saints defense.
NFL DFS QB Fades for NFL Week 12
Daniel Jones, QB, Indianapolis Colts
Maybe unfairly, I’m still in this “prove it” stage when it comes to Daniel Jones, and this is absolutely going to be one of those tests as the Colts go on the road to take on the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have a solid defense, and playing at home, as it gets colder, is going to be something to watch when it comes to Jones, who has benefited from his home stadium this season. For the price and the matchup, I’d just rather go elsewhere this week.
