Typically, the Fourth of July is the starting point for most people to begin their fantasy football research. But the folks over at FastDraft continue to remain ahead of the curve, and their best ball contests have been firing up for some time now. Why wait when you can get an early edge by reading up on what the Fantasy Alarm #FAmily is writing about and apply that immediately to your Flex-4 contests on FastDraft?

If this is your first time hearing about FastDraft, then do yourself a favor and click here for a quick read. That article from Andrew Cooper lays everything out for you about FastDraft, from the basic contest parameters, draft strategies, and a full explanation of all the ins and outs of the app. You can also check out Friday’s Fantasy Alarm Show on SiriusXM Fantasy Sports Radio as Matt Kelley, one of the creators of FastDraft, joined us to add further insights.

And one of the best parts of this app is that it was created by people who love to draft, so everything they’ve done comes from the mind of players, not just technicians. They even put together their own FastDraft ADP to help you in your research. We dove into some of the ADP last week and with more drafts in the books, we’re going to take a look at a new batch of ADP risers and fallers.

Let’s get to work!

FastDraft Flex-4 ADP Risers

Trey McBride, TE Arizona Cardinals (ADP: 19.12; +0.35)

It’s about time we started seeing some tight end love here. OK, fine, the position, overall, is terrible for this format, but given the volume of targets and receptions McBride sees, he should be valued as a top-targeted wide receiver. Maybe not of the elite range, but certainly among the second and third-tier options we see being drafted in the Flex-4 contests. There is talk of Kyler Murray doing more work to go through his progressions better, but a security blanket is just that and Murray is to McBride as Linus is to that grimy blue blanket.

Joe Mixon, RB Houston Texans (ADP: 41.09; +2.18)

I find this to be an odd riser, but that could just be the way I’m looking at this backfield as opposed to others. We already know Mixon is contending with an ankle injury, and there have been rumors of him landing on the PUP list should the Texans' medical staff not see any real improvement. Of course, those rumors come in conjunction with the signing of Nick Chubb and the lack of roster cuts to hit the backfield room, which now has Mixon, Chubb, Dameon Pierce, Dare Ogunbowale, and rookie Woody Marks. Are the Texans preparing for the RB Apocalypse? Very possible. So, despite the increase in ADP, be very wary of over-investing in Mixon.

Khalil Shakir, WR Buffalo Bills (ADP: 56.91; +0.76)

The only way this increase really makes sense to me is if the rest of the fantasy community believes he is going to be the alpha receiver for Josh Allen. Personally, I struggle to see the upside as he’s always been a low-aDOT, slot receiver who can do well to help move the chains, but lacks the explosiveness you really want/need in a best ball format. Shakir is a high-floor guy you can look at in season-long, but this whole Bills receiving corps is so interchangeable that it’s extremely difficult to see any one of them rally and stand out.

FastDraft Flex-4 ADP Fallers

Derrick Henry, RB Baltimore Ravens (ADP: 14.77; -0.59)

The drop in ADP has to come from people vying for shares in other players. We’ve seen nothing from Henry’s camp or the Ravens to indicate there could be an issue, and while yes, plenty of people fear the day that Henry stops producing at RB1 levels, I don’t see that drop-off coming just yet. He’s fallen down the ADP in other best ball formats as well, but considering he hasn’t fallen out of the top-15 overall, you should consider him a safe pick with monster upside.

Omarion Hampton, RB Los Angeles Chargers (ADP: 41.50; -3.75)

I may be alone on an island here, but I look at the drop in ADP for Hampton and wonder what took it so long? Everyone seemingly hates Najee Harris, and many are projecting Hampton to eventually take over this job full-time, but I don’t see Harris going away anytime soon, nor do I think Hampton should be drafted among the likes of Alvin Kamara and Kenneth Walker. Grab some shares so you have exposure, but there is no reason to go crazy here.

Jauan Jennings, WR San Francisco 49ers (ADP: 59.79; -1.21)

Just three ADP spots below Jennings is fellow 49ers receiver Ricky Pearsall. Scroll down even further, and you’ll even see a slight increase in ADP for Brandon Aiyuk as well. We’ll probably continue to see this kind of fluctuation leading right into the season until we get further clarity as to the recovery of Aiyuk and what the roles will look like for Jennings and Pearsall once he does come back. Personally, I think Jennings is the guy to own of the three and I am drafting him as such, but we’ll continue to monitor things as we move closer into training camp.
