Patrick Mahomes, KC

Patrick Mahomes has been a starting quarterback for six seasons. And he’s been a QB1 in fantasy six times. For a period there, Mahomes was the QB1 off the board in every draft, no question. This year he’s going off the board at QB5 in the 5th round.

Last year he won the Super Bowl with Travis Kelce, a rookie in Rashee Rice, and Justin Watson (with 53 targets) as his top three targets. Rice may miss a couple of games with a suspension but this year they added Marquise Brown on a one year “prove it” deal. And, since they know “Hollywood” Brown is looking to pad his stats and get paid next year, they also added the speedster Xavier Worthy in the 1st round of the NFL Draft. Better safe than sorry right?

All that adds up to Mahomes having best weapons in years - and they extended Travis Kelce just to be sure. This guy is the number one player in fantasy points per game of all time at any position and the QB1 in passing yards per game of all time. And he goes off the board at QB4.

Anthony Richardson, IND

With mobile QBs, we immediately think of upside. Which is true - there’s a reason Josh Allen, Jalen Hurts, and Lamar Jackson are the first three QBs off the board. But rushing also offers an incredibly safe FLOOR in fantasy. If a pocket passer throws for 250 yards, that’s 10 points. These mobile QBs can get to 10 points with 150 passing yards and 40 rushing yards.

Not to mention, rushing TDs are worth six points while passing are four on most platforms. Anthony Richardson played four games last year and scored four rushing TDs. He has a good floor AND special upside. And they just added another weapon in the draft in Adonai Mitchell.

Kyler Murray, ARI

He’s not super late but he’s going off at the 10th QB so late as your QB1. If you take all QBs all-time in the history of the NFL and sort by points per game, Kyler Murray is top five. He’s fourth in fact. He returned last year and looked just as mobile as ever. Arizona knew he needed some help so they took Marvin Harrison Jr. at four overall in the 2024 Draft then added Trey Benson in the third as the second RB off the board.

Jordan Love, GB

I prefer Murray to Love despite Love going slightly earlier but I’m happy with either. The Packers have an embarrassment of riches in the young pass-catcher department with Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Luke Musgrave, and Tucker Kraft

They lost multiple guys to injury last year and the train kept rolling with Love finishing as QB6 in his first season as a starter. I have no problem making Love my QB1 and, if you can double tap Murray/Love at QB9/10, you don’t need to worry about QB for the rest of the draft.

Deshaun Watson, CLE

We mentioned how Kyler Murray is fourth all-time in fantasy points per game in NFL history - Watson is third. There is a stigma around him that has him going off the board as QB22 in the 14th round due to the off-field issues.

And that’s fine, we’ll take advantage of that. What matters to us is fantasy points, creating value, and winning money. He has Amari Cooper, Jerry Jeudy, and David Njoku at his disposal, and I’ve seen him do a lot with a lot less in this league. He’s still only 28 years old.
