Fantasy Football Week 11 Waiver Advice
The waiver period of Week 11 may be over but that does not mean you still can’t make moves to improve your roster before Thursday night’s game. While many big names were likely claimed on Wednesday let’s take a look at some players who might still be floating around the waiver wire that you should grab.
Quarterback
Joe Flacco, Bal- Flacco is coming off a strong game against a bad Browns defense which saw him throw for 296 yards with three touchdowns and two interceptions. In Week 11 the Browns will head on the road to face a Cowboys defense that is allowing the 13th most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks on the year. The Ravens receiving group is pretty strong with Steve Smith Sr. and Mike Wallace both healthy which opens up the potential for a solid game from Flacco as the team will need to throw to keep up with the Cowboys.
Alex Smith, KC – Smith is far from a sexy fantasy pick and is coming off a poor performance against a Panthers defense that is not nearly as stingy as it once but he will have a chance to rebound in Week 11 against a Buccaneers defense that is allowing the sixth most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks this season. Smith is likely going to be without Jeremy Maclin again so the team’s passing attack will focus on Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce but the Buccaneers are a team that Smith should be able to exploit through the air.
Running Back
Thomas Rawls, Sea- Rawls is expected to play in Week 11 against the Eagles and while he is going to be limited to start he is a must add going forward for the remainder of the season. Rawls saw his ownership levels jump nearly 20 percent this week but still finds himself available in over 30 percent of standard league formats. Rawls should take over the early down work and will definitely get the goal line touches over C.J. Prosise so at the very least he will carry weekly flex appeal with some upside.
Christine Michael, GB- The Packers went and claimed Michael off waivers from Seattle and while he will likely not be too involved in Week 11 against the Redskins he could take over the early down work from James Starks come Week 12. Michael saw his ownership drop nearly 30 percent after he was placed on waivers so now is the time for those in need of help at the running back position to put in a claim to grab Michael in hopes that he can find his footing in Green Bay.
Wide Receiver
Ted Ginn Jr., Car– Ginn has flown under the radar in most fantasy formats as he is owned in under 10 percent of leagues despite having totaled 20 catches on 29 targets over the last four weeks. In PPR formats Ginn is averaging nearly 10 points a week which is easily worth a flex start and he will find himself with a great matchup in Week 11 against a Saints defense that just allowed 191 yards and two touchdowns to Bronco receivers in Week 10.
Pierre Garcon, Wsh– Garcon has caught 12-of-17 targets for 148 yards over the last two weeks for Washington and will now head into a matchup against a Packers defense that is being carved up by opposing passing attacks in recent weeks. If DeSean Jackson is unable to play fantasy owners should look to scoop up and start Garcon as he figures to be one of Counsin’s most targeted options in Week 11 against a defense allowing the 10th most fantasy points to opposing receivers this season.
Sammy Watkins, Buf– Watkins has missed all but two weeks this season due to injury but he is eligible to return to action in Week 12 against the Jaguars and would make for a fantastic stash play for those teams looking to bulk up as the fantasy playoffs near. Watkins is currently owned in just 30 percent of standard leagues and has the ability to be a top 10 receiver when healthy. If you have the roster space now is the time to pick up Watkins before you are forced to use some FAAB budget or a premium waiver spot to pick him up if the Bills activate him heading into next week.
Tight End
Ladarius Green, Pit– Green finally stepped on the field for the Steelers in Week 10 and caught 3-of-4 targets for 30 yards against the Cowboys. While the production is nothing special it is worth noting that Green was on the field for just 12 snaps which is pretty impressive usage. Green is an athletic tight end that can cause matchup problems for opposing defenses and should be a weapon in this Steelers offense once he finally gets going. In Week 11 the Steelers will face a Browns defense allowing the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season which could create a breakout opportunity for Green.
C.J. Fiedorowicz, Hou– The Houston passing attack continues to be abysmal but Fiedorwicz remains as a solid fantasy tight end heading into Week 11 as the Texans face a Raiders defense that has struggled against the pass this season and is allowing the 10th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. Despite all the struggles of Brock Osweiler he continues to target Fiedorowicz with regularity which makes him a safe play. He is only owned in 30 percent of standard leagues and if you find yourself in need of a bye week replacement you could do much worse than Fiedorowicz given how shallow the position.
