Well, if anything is going to give me a case of the Mondays, it’s a paltry eight-game slate. No, I’m just kidding. I just wanted an excuse to say that because at 4am, Office Space was on as I was compiling ADP data. I love these short slates. I play a bunch of cash games and splatter some GPP action and usually, I come out on top. It’s the big slates and all those bats where I get crazy. In any event, we’ve got some really nice pitching options from which to choose, so here is the data and my recommendations:

Stephen Strasburg, WAS – Save for one hiccup against the Dodgers, Strasburg has looked fantastic over his last five starts. Six, actually if you want to count the one against the Cubs right before he landed on the DL. The Diamondbacks have a slightly below league average .311 wOBA against righties with an ugly 23.3-percent strikeout rate, and over the past week, that wOBA has been sitting at .280.

Danny Salazar, CLE – His one start against the Twins wasn’t so hot but that was back in April, and while Minnesota has been swinging the bats well as of late and Salazar has had his fantasy and DFS owners riding a rollercoaster, I still like him against a team that has just a .310 wOAB with a 22.2-percent K-rate against righties and a .313 wOBA with a 25.1-percent K-rate on the road. This is where a strong pitching skill set supersedes a team on a slight hot streak.

Chris Archer, TB – It’s been tough to roll with Archer this year, for sure, but I’m going to take a stab at him today against a Royals team that couldn’t hit their way out of a paper bag right now. How bad are they as of late? How about a .238 wOBA with a pathetic .097 ISO? They may not strike out much but Archer should have his way with them today.

Marcus Stroman, TOR – Not only are the Astros bats cold (.268 wOBA), but they’re also striking out at a somewhat alarming 26-percent over the past week. The Astros are also posting a 44.9-percent ground ball rate during that span which definitely tilts the scales in Stroman’s favor with his 62.3-percent ground ball rate.

Jimmy Nelson, MIL – Another week and another great time to pick on the Padres. Despite his recent beating, I love Nelson in GPP play tonight, though many will as well, considering the Padres are posting a .275 wOBA with an abysmal 28.3-percent strikeout rate over the last week. And let’s not forget the fact that the Padres rank dead last with a .289 wOBA against right-handed pitching with a 25-percent K-rate.

CC Sabathia, NYY – How about a big, fat dart here? The Mets are posting a .284 wOBA with just a .102 ISO over the past week and already rank 23rd in the league with a .313 wOBA against southpaws this season. They’re not striking out as much lately but still have a 22.5-percent against lefties this year.
