Mariners vs. Tigers ALDS Game 3 Predictions: Tuesday, October 7th
The Mariners and Tigers split the first two games of this ALDS over the weekend. The series now shifts to Detroit for Game 3 on Tuesday afternoon. Seattle is the slight favorite, and we’re looking in that direction with a few edges pointing to the visitors.Â
Logan Gilbert gets the start for the Mariners. The right-hander is pitching well lately after being inconsistent at times this season. He has a 2.52 ERA over his past 7 starts, including a 2.30 ERA in September. The narrative with Gilbert, and most of Seattle’s starters, is the weaker road splits. Yet, he’s been better on the road recently, with an impressive 2.66 ERA over his past 4 road starts.Â
In two matchups vs. Detroit this season, Gilbert had a 2.61 ERA with a 19:3 K:BB ratio. One of those outings came on the road, too. He should be up to the task today, especially since the Tigers have been struggling against right-handed pitching. Over the final two weeks of the regular season, the offense had a .262 wOBA and 65 wRC+ vs. righties (both 27th in MLB).Â
Detroit’s offensive issues have carried over into the postseason. The Tigers are averaging just 2.8 runs across 5 games in their Wild Card and Divisional series so far. Plus, they’re scoring only 2.4 runs per game over the past 16 contests overall. Gilbert and an upper-tier Seattle bullpen can limit Detroit’s scoring, even on the road.Â
On the other side, Jack Flaherty starts for the Tigers. The right-hander has been up and down this year with a 4.64 ERA and 1.28 WHIP. That was also true in his last two months of the regular season, posting a 5.36 ERA over his final 9 starts. It’s always tough to predict which version of Flaherty we’ll get. He’s just as prone to blowups as he is capable of dominating.Â
The Mariners will present a tough matchup here, though. Seattle ended the regular season crushing right-handed pitching over the final two weeks, with a .365 wOBA (3rd in MLB), .854 OPS (3rd), and 143 wRC+ (1st). Flaherty was solid in his Wild Card start against Cleveland, allowing 1 run over 4.2 innings.Â
Conversely, Flaherty owns a shaky 5.50 ERA across 11 career postseason outings. Even with the Dodgers last year, he allowed 4+ runs in 3 of his 5 playoff starts. Yes, he’s shown up in big games before, but there’s also been some bad performances. Seattle has the lineup to show out on the road today.Â
In addition to backing Seattle, let's also take the over on Gilbert's strikeouts and outs props. The Mariners will want some length from their right-hander after using up a ton of relievers in the first two games. Plus, their pitching plan for Game 4 is unclear, so it could be an all-hands-on-deck situation.Â

- Logan Gilbert Over 16.5 Outs (+106 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
- Logan Gilbert Over 6.5 Strikeouts (-112 on FanDuel Sportsbook)

Blue Jays vs. Yankees ALDS Game 3 Predictions: Tuesday, October 7th
The Blue Jays made a statement in Games 1 and 2, scoring 23 total runs with a pair of emphatic wins. It’s desperation time for the Yankees with the series shifting to New York. They have to win tonight to avoid elimination in this best-of-five ALDS.Â
We have a starting pitching matchup of Shane Bieber vs. Carlos Rodon in Thursday’s Game 3. At first glance, the Yankees should have the edge to get the win at home. However, this Toronto offense is rolling right now and could easily complete the sweep. Instead of making a pick on a side or total in this game, let’s focus on some player props for our MLB predictions. Â
Rodon will likely have a short leash in this win-or-go-home scenario. Let’s grab the under on his outs prop. If the lefty-hander runs into any trouble, the Yankees could go to their bullpen early. We saw it happen in Game 1, as Luis Gil lasted only 2.2 innings. Then again, in Game 2, when Max Fried got pulled in the third inning.Â
Yes, Rodon ended the regular season strong and posted a 3.09 ERA this year. He also tossed 6 solid innings against the Red Sox in the Wild Card round. Yet, he did allow 7 baserunners in that start and endured a shaky third inning. If that situation comes up again, Aaron Boone’s hand could be forced to go to some high-leverage bullpen arms early. Or, the Yanks may send out exciting righty Cam Schlittler to flip the Jays’ lineup.Â
It’s also worth mentioning that Rodon failed to get through five innings in 3 of his 4 postseason starts last year for the Yankees. The southpaw has a 6.15 ERA across 7 career playoff outings as well. Plus, he’s had some trouble with the Toronto offense. Over the past two seasons, Rodon has a rough 6.66 ERA and 1.81 WHIP in 5 starts against the Blue Jays.Â
Vladimir Guerrero has been the star for Toronto this series. He homered in the first inning of Game 1, smacked a grand slam in Game 2, and has gone 6-for-9 across the two victories. Vladdy is locked in right now, so let’s take the over on both his hits+runs+RBI prop and his walks prop. In his career, Guerrero is 10-for-17 (.588) with 4 walks, 5 RBI, and a 1.608 OPS against Rodon. That’s some domination. In the later innings, we could see the Yankees just intentionally walk him as well.Â
Another prop to consider is the over on Paul Goldschmidt’s hits+runs+RBI prop. The odds aren’t posted as of this writing, but keep an eye out once lineups are announced. The Yankees may start Goldy over Ben Rice at first base in this game. Shane Bieber has reverse splits with right-handed hitters having much more success against him. Plus, Goldschmidt is hitting well with 4 hits in 7 at-bats this postseason.Â
- Expert Blue Jays vs. Yankees Picks:
- Carlos Rodon Under 14.5 Outs (+132 on FanDuel Sportsbook)
- Vladimir Guerrero Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBIÂ (-137 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
- Vladimir Guerrero Over 0.5 Walks (+133 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
- Paul Goldschmidt Over 1.5 Hits+Runs+RBI (TBD on DraftKings Sportsbook)
