Week 11 is now in the books which means we have just two weeks left in the regular season for many fantasy leagues.  This was a brutal week in terms of injuries as some big names went down, so the timing could not be worse for GMs competing for playoff berths.  So without further ado, here is the next edition of the fantasy football walking wounded.

A.J. Green (WR-CIN)

Fantasy GMs were devastated early in the day Sunday when A.J. Green was carted off the field with a hamstring injury.  It looked much worse than it apparently was because he appears to have escaped with what the team is calling just a minor tear.  Green will definitely miss Week 12 and possibly more, but there is more optimism now that he will play again this season.  Unfortunately for fantasy GMs the playoffs begin in Week 13 so his absence will certainly have serious playoff implications. Keep a close watch on targets distribution for Brandon LaFell and Tyler Boyd this week as both should be worth a look in Green’s absence.

Andrew Luck (QB-IND)

It is not looking good for Andrew Luck to play Thanksgiving Day against the Steelers as he is currently in the league’s concussion protocol.  His head hit the ground this past weekend against Tennessee and it likely will cost him a critical game on a short week.  The Colts offensive line has been putting Luck’s life in danger for years, and now it may have jeopardized fantasy GMs’ seasons if Luck cannot play.  Scott Tolzien is the backup and if he is under center then it limits the value of other players like T.Y. Hilton and Donte Moncrief.

Stefon Diggs (WR-MIN)

The Vikings listed Diggs on their injury report with a knee issue, but he is expected to play Thanksgiving Day against Detroit.  He didn’t do much against Arizona this past week, but has been a solid fantasy option when fully healthy.  If he is hobbled at all with a knee ailment, then he will be playing at less than 100% on a short week which is a concern.

Tevin Coleman (RB-ATL)

Coleman is on track to return this week after missing the past several games with a hamstring injury.  He was taking a lot of snaps away from Devonta Freeman and has scored five rushing touchdowns and one receiving touchdown.  It will be interesting to see how he is eased back into the mix as the Falcons go up against a solid Cardinals defense so temper expectations as you plug him back into the lineup as a RB2 or Flex option.

LeSean McCoy (RB-BUF)

McCoy suffered a dislocated thumb on Sunday and underwent surgery to repair it that night.  His status is up in the air for next week against Jacksonville but it is encouraging that the Bills coaching staff seemed hopeful that he will play.  McCoy has returned to solid RB1 status this year with 716 yards and seven touchdowns, and he would have a very favorable matchup against the Jaguars if he can take the field.  Expect Buffalo to be very cautious with him during practice so check back later in the week for further updates.  If McCoy cannot play then Mike Gillislee becomes a must-start RB2 option for Week 12.

Giovani Bernard (RB-CIN)

While the news about A.J. Green turned out a little better than expected, the same cannot be said for his Bengals teammate Giovani Bernard.  Bernard suffered a torn ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.  He was a RB2 or Flex option in deep leagues anyway, so his loss will not be catastrophic for the fantasy playoffs.  What it does mean is an expanded role for Jeremy Hill which does increase his fantasy value down the stretch.

Ryan Mathews (RB-PHI)

Mathews suffered a knee injury during the Eagles loss to Seattle on Sunday and has been ruled day-to-day.  The initial thought is that he suffered a sprained MCL and he was wearing a brace in Philadelphia’s locker room.  It would be overly optimistic to think Mathews will be ready to play next Monday night against Green Bay, so for now Wendell Smallwood is a solid waiver wire option to go up against the Packers depleted defense.

Robert Woods (WR-BUF)

Woods suffered a sprained knee during Buffalo’s win over Cincinnati this past week.  He was seen on crutches so his status for Week 12 is extremely doubtful.  Woods has not been a big fantasy factor this season but with Sammy Watkins still out and LeSean McCoy banged up again he could have had a larger role in the offense.

Jay Cutler (QB-CHI)

It has been a disastrous season for the Bears, but they may finally have the reason they need to be done with Jay Cutler.  He suffered a shoulder injury against the Giants and it is possible that he will be shut down for the rest of the year.  There are scant details about the extent of the injury, but the expectation is that Chicago will keep him sidelined and just finish out the year aiming towards a top draft pick for 2017.  With Alshon Jeffery suspended for a few more games, there is no reason to put any other Bears wide receivers in a fantasy lineup.

C.J. Prosise (RB-SEA)

Prosise suffered a fractured scapula and is likely done for the regular season.  He was just thrown into a prominent role in Seattle’s backfield after they released Christine Michael last week but now he is done until the playoffs at the earliest.  Thomas Rawls just returned this past week and is now the unanimous featured back for the Seahawks which makes him a valuable RB2.
