We have a small four game slate tonight which means Cash Games should largely be avoided. For me I hate these slates, especially on DK where you are forced to use two SPs which will really limit your player pool when picking hitters. For this slate I will be doing a quick breakdown of each game with some players worth highlighting.
Nationals @ Phillies
We have Tanner Roark vs Aaron Nola tonight. Nola is the top pitching option on the slate and will likely be pretty popular. The trouble here is that with starting Nola you are now fading the Nationals lineup which has plenty of appealing bats. With the Phillies we have to look at Odubel Herrera and Rhys Hoskins who are really starting to heat up. I like Cesar Hernadnez as well here as well. Roark has allowed nine runs over 10.2 innings in two starts against the Phillies this season. Nola has made one start against the Phillies this season. In that start he allowed two runs over six innings while striking out five.
Angels @ Red Sox
The Red Sox are using southpaw Brian Johnson in a spot start tonight which makes me very interested in the Angels hitters here. Johnson has struggled for most of the season and the Angels have been decent against left-handed pitching on the year. Ian Kinsler , Mike Trout and Justin Upton would be part of any core I build. The Red Sox will likely be the chalk of the slate even as the Angels send Jaime Barria to the mound who has been pretty solid this season. Boston has put up 18 runs over the first two games of the season and they are the top hitting team against right-handed pitching this season. If looking to save some money I like Brock Holt and Rafael Devers against Barria while pairing them up with J.D. Martínez .
Astros @ Rays
The Astros are sending Lance McCullers to the mound tonight while the Rays will be using their "Opener" strategy. Houston is a big favorite tonight but aside from Alex Bregman , their lineup has been a bit cold of late. The Rays have had the best team ERA since turning to the "Opener" strategy so I am not as high on the expensive bats of the Astros. On the flip side, I think stacking against McCullers could be an interesting contrarian strategy which is something you will need to do on this slate if you hope to seperate yourself from the field. Jake Bauers , Kevin Kiermaier and Wilson Ramos are appealing to me here.
Brewers @ Reds
I can see Júnior Guerra being a popular SP2 option on tonight's slate even though the Reds are a solid team against right-handed pitching and will benefit by playing in their home ball park which favors the hitter. Guerra tossed 5.2 shutout innings against the Reds in an earlier start this season in which he struck out seven and allowed just one hit. The Reds are sending Anthony DeSclafani to the mound and he himself has been pretty decent, having allowed no more than two earned runs in each of his last three starts. I can easily see stacking against both of these pitchers with Christian Yelich , Jesus Aguilar and Travis Shaw appealing to me with the Brewers and Joey Votto , Scooter Gennett and Scott Schebler appealing to me with the Reds. On FanDuel I like the value play of Brad Miller tonight on Milwaukee given his home run upside in that ball park.
