It’s Sunday, so you know what that means! It’s time to take a look at the interleague matchups for the upcoming week and determine how it will affect our fantasy lineups. What fantasy players stand to gain some value? You’ll find that and more here at Fantasy Alarm!

This week, we have a handful of games that are of the interleague variety! Keep on reading to see who gains/loses some at-bats, as well as fantasy value for the week that lies ahead.

Rockies @ Rangers (8/30-9/1)

Dom Nuñez will start one of these games behind the dish. In terms of the designated hitter, C.J. Cron should start at least one of them there, which slots Connor Joe in at first base. I wouldn’t be surprised if that happened in both games.

Winners: Connor Joe

Losers: None

Cubs @ Twins (8/31-9/1)

One of the Chicago catchers (Chirinos, Romine) will get a DH appearance at some point in this two game set, or perhaps the team will use Ian Happ there, so that they can open up an outfield spot to keep Rafael Ortega and Michael Hermosillo in the lineup. Honestly, that seems like the more likely outcome.

Winners: Rafael Ortega and Michael Hermosillo

Losers: None

Pirates @ White Sox (8/31-9/1)

The release of Gregory Polanco will shake up the lineup a bit, but it’s pretty easy to decipher. Yoshi Tsutsugo has moved around the field in recent days, and Pittsburgh will want to find a way to have Michael Chavis’ bat in the lineup. Wilmer Difo could DH, allowing Chavis to play second base, or whomever doesn’t DH between Chavis and Tsutsugo will play right field.

Winners: Michael Chavis, Yoshi Tsutsugo and Wilmer Difo

Losers: None

Tigers @ Reds (9/3-9/5)

Eric Haase crushes southpaws, but not exactly the same said can be said against righties. With Cincinnati scheduled to throw three right-handers and the fact that Haase hasn’t played outfield too much of late, he might lose some at-bats this weekend. Grayson Geriner and Dustin Garneau could get some additional at-bats this week, while Haase is limited to DH duties. Recently, in a two game set against the Cardinals, Haase didn’t play in other contest. He could find himself on the outside looking in.

Winners: No major winners

Losers: Eric Haase

Mariners @ Diamondbacks (9/3-9/5)

Luis Torrens has settled in as the team’s designated hitter and he hits lefties quite well. However, where will the team put him? If they put him at first base, where will Ty France go? Second base? What about Abraham Toro? Third? What about Kyle Seager? Torrens could catch, but he hasn’t started a game there in well over a month and a half. Torrens might be pinch-hitting more this weekend, unless the team gives him a start at first base.

Winners: None

Losers: Luis Torrens

Astros @ Padres (9/3-9/5)

The Astros have a good problem to have. They have a lot of hitters, and a lot of hot hitters, but only a few lineup spots to fill. Aledmys Díaz, Taylor Jones and Jake Meyers have been seeing the ball well of late, but the loss of the DH will complicate things for the team. Usually, they have the luxury of sliding Yordan Alvarez or Michael Brantley to the designated hitter spot, opening the door for someone. They won’t have that here. In the team’s last interleague affair, Alvarez started both games in left field, and Brantley started both in right. A similar story likely happens again, and Diaz could spell Jose Altuve or Alex Bregman, if either of them needs a day off. However, things look much tougher for Jones and Meyers to crack the lineup.

Winners: None

Losers: Taylor Jones and Jake Meyers
