Pistons beat writer James Edwards III believes that Luke Kennard and his representatives are "very confident that they'll get an eight-figure deal" in free agency.
Kennard will earn a guaranteed $5.3 million next season, and the Pistons can make him a restricted FA after the 2020-21 season. He showed some growth in his game this year and ranked 115th among qualifying players for Player Efficiency Rating, in the range of guys like Eric Paschall, Shabazz Napier and Markelle Fultz. Avoiding injuries, particularly to his troublesome knees, would go a long way toward pushing him into eight-figure territory. May 21 1:34 pm (EST)
