2022 Player Outlook
Aquino may have only hit .190 last year with 10 home runs and two stolen bases, but it might have been the most electrifying .190 batting average, 10 home runs, and two stolen bases. He posted a ridiculous 14.9 percent barrel rate and a ground ball rate of just 29.7 percent. Aquino struggled to hit non-fastballs last year, posting a .098 batting average against breaking pitches and just a .077 batting average against offspeed pitches. He did post a .44 slugging percentage and .761 OPS against southpaws, so perhaps Cincy utilizes him in a platoon. Aquino is incredibly toolsy and makes massive contact when his bat finds the ball. In a full-time role, yes, he would strike out a ton and probably hit no better than .240 at his absolute ceiling, but he would be quite an interesting power/speed combo that would entice fantasy managers.
