The 2025 French Open closes with two of the most compelling finals we could’ve hoped for. On the men’s side, Carlos Alcaraz meets Jannik Sinner for the second time this year and the first time ever in a Grand Slam final. They just met a few weeks ago in the Rome final, where Alcaraz won in straight sets. That tournament marked Sinner’s return from a doping suspension, and he moved through the draw with ease to reach the final just one week before Roland Garros. Both players come in healthy, in form, and with a shot to close the clay season as the most dominant player on tour.

In the women’s final, Coco Gauff takes on Aryna Sabalenka. They’ve split their ten career meetings, and this will be their third matchup on clay, where each has won once.

Men’s Final: Carlos Alcaraz vs Jannik Sinner

Alcaraz has dropped four sets through six matches and spent over 13 hours on court. He dropped sets to Dzumhur, Marozsan, and Shelton — not unexpected given how aggressively he plays, but a contrast to Sinner’s recent efficiency. His semifinal against Musetti ended early, but only after a physically demanding opening stretch.

Sinner hasn’t dropped a set through six rounds and has looked in control across all phases: clean on serve, solid through rallies, and unbothered physically. Alcaraz leads the head-to-head 7–4 and has won their last two meetings on clay, including a five-set semifinal here at Roland Garros one year ago and the recent Rome final. The Italian’s early ball striking can neutralize Alcaraz’s creativity on faster surfaces.

On return, Sinner looks to take time away by stepping in and attacking second serves early, while Alcaraz typically sets up deeper behind the baseline to absorb pace and use his variety to reset the point. That contrast will shape how each defends their court against first-strike aggression.

On clay, Alcaraz gets more time to reset, vary spin and trajectory, and build longer patterns. He’ll mix in drop shots, angle-heavy forehands, and looping topspin to disrupt rhythm. But Sinner’s improved lateral movement and compact strokes hold up well on this surface.

If this goes the distance, Alcaraz’s experience in longer battles and his ability to create offense from defense give him the edge. He’s shown time and again that he can stay composed and creative deep into a fifth set, especially on clay.

Best Bet: Carlos Alcaraz ML (-115 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

We picked Alcaraz to win the tournament in our pre-event preview, and we’re sticking with it. Sinner has yet to be tested in a long match, while Alcaraz has already weathered a few. More importantly, Alcaraz has won their last four meetings. His physicality, shot creativity, and late-match resilience give him the edge in this battlet.

Women’s Final: Coco Gauff vs Aryna Sabalenka

Both players have looked sharp throughout the tournament. Sabalenka dropped a set to Swiatek, but otherwise has kept her matches efficient. Gauff dropped a set to Keys but kept things steady in the quarters, then ended Lois Boisson’s Cinderella run with a routine win.

Sabalenka’s power will test both Gauff’s return game and court coverage. Their H2H is tied 5–5. Gauff has won one of their last four meetings; a straight-sets win at the 2024 WTA Finals.

This matchup tilts on first-strike pressure vs. point construction. Sabalenka brings the bigger serve and heavier ball, but Gauff absorbs pace well and extends rallies better than almost anyone on clay. The slower surface gives her more time to neutralize Sabalenka’s forehand and force longer exchanges. The question is whether Sabalenka can sustain her aggression without leaking errors, especially when stretched wide or hitting through the court.

Expect Gauff to play with margin early, extending rallies and forcing Sabalenka to hit through the court. Sabalenka is a heavy favorite at -250, with Gauff priced as a significant underdog at +195. Gauff covered the spread in their first clay meeting, and this matchup still plays to her strengths.

Free Pick: Gauff +3.5 games (+100 at DraftKings Sportsbook)

It’s not a confident lean, but the number gives Gauff room to cover in a competitive two-set loss or in any match that goes three. Her return skills and patience on clay give her a path to keep this closer than the odds suggest.
