In yesterday’s EPL DFS Playbook, we discussed how James Maddison was what passed for a safe stud on Saturday’s slate, because most of the actual studs weren’t playing. Maddison was one of just five players in the slate to score, so that wound up being a pretty good call. More importantly for our purposes, all of the expensive players who were missing Saturday are playing Sunday. Any of those players could go off for fantasy in any matchup, but in general, I’m going to look to save some money on some of the slightly cheaper players if possible.
Goal Keepers | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Vicente Guaita | CRY | MCI | 3600 | 5.44 | 7 | 8.81
Guaita has averaged 3.5 saves per game in his last four games. Opponents are averaging 3.9 saves per game against City, the highest average in the league. There is some risk Palace lose 7-1 like they did against Liverpool a month ago, but most likely we're getting a handful of saves super cheap.
Hugo Lloris | TOT | SHU | 5600 | 9.37 | 12 | 14.35
I was surprised to see Lloris is sixth in the league in saves, because I consider Tottenham very good defensively. Lloris has at least three saves in six straight games, and while he may not be quite as likely to get a win or a clean sheet as Ederson, I think Lloris's floor is higher. |
Forwards | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Edinson Cavani | MUN | LIV | 6000 | 7.59 | 16 | 11.53
He was most noticeable against Burnley for his endless complaining to the referee, but he is still 12th in the league in goals per 90 minutes. We're getting a decent chance at a goal at a good price, and it is not as if Liverpool's defense has been a steel trap this season. |
Midfielders | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Bruno Fernandes | MUN | LIV | 9500 | 22.79 | 20 | 33.65
I don't understand why he is so cheap on FanDuel. Kevin De Bruyne is just as safe and has a better matchup, but I am totally comfortable with Fernandes if you need to save some money.
Kevin De Bruyne | MCI | CRY | 10200 | 20.32 | 22 | 25.50
City's attack hasn't been too prolific outside of their huge game against Burnley, but De Bruyne is involved in nearly every goal. Even with all of the studs in this slate, De Bruyne is still worth paying up for.
Ben Osborn | SHU | TOT | 4200 | 5.43 | 8 | 6.57
Tottenham allows a ton of crosses, and Osborn is averaging four crosses per game in his last four games. He is a safe midfielder who will allow you to pay up elsewhere.
Phil Foden | MCI | CRY | 8000 | 10.33 | 16 | 13.60
Foden finally appears to be playing regularly, and it has paid off with goals in his last two games. I don't necessarily expect another one, but he has six chances created in those two games, and that could be replicated.
Ilkay Gundogan | MCI | CRY | 5800 | 9.38 | 13 | 13.59
Gundogan hasn't been quite as good as Phil Foden, but he has been more consistent. Gundogan has at least one shot on goal and one chance created in five straight games, with three goals in that span.
Midfielders | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Son Heung-Min | TOT | SHU | 8700 | 18.66 | 19 | 25.39
Son is safer than Kane on DraftKings and he is cheaper than Kane on FanDuel. Son's finishing hasn't been quite as clinical of late, but he's still getting plenty of nice chances in addition to taking most of the set pieces. |
Defenders | |||||||
Player | Team | Opp. | DK $ | DK FPPG | FD $ | FD FPPG
Jayden Bogle | SHU | TOT | 4800 | 11.19 | 7 | 20.67
I'm shocked he is so cheap on FanDuel after scoring at least 18.4 fantasy points in all three of his games this season, including two starts. Its hard to completely trust him on DK considering he didn't have a single cross against Newcastle, but I'm cautiously optimistic he can match the four crosses he sent in against Crystal Palace. Only wolves have allowed more crosses than Spurs this season.
Sergio Reguilon | TOT | SHU | 5000 | 7.98 | 12 | 13.96
Reguilon looked great getting forward against Fulham on Wednesday, and I have to believe he will do so again against Sheffield Sunday. Its hard to completely trust him, but we've seen him rack up crosses against the weaker teams in the league. I think Reguilon is the better player, but Serge Aurier may be safer for cash games.
Enda Stevens | SHU | TOT | 3500 | 4.13 | 10 | 10.11
He is reportedly set to return Sunday, though we do not know if he will start. He is significantly cheaper than when he went out, and and he had at least three crosses in three consecutive games before his injury.
Eric Bailly | MUN | LIV | 2600 | 2.4 | 10 | 10.55
Bailly is averaging 4.5 clearances per game in his last four games, and Liverpool's opponents have 96 more clearances than the next closest team.
James Tomkins | CRY | MCI | 2500 | 2.53 | 8 | 12.25
Tomkins has at least six clearances in three consecutive games, and I would expect him to make it four straight against City. If you need to save an extra $1, Cheikhou Kouyate is playable as well. |
