We’ve been getting some really good Monday Night games of late and at first look this is not one of them. Vegas set this games over under at just 38 points, the second lowest total this week. As always, come challenge the team at Fantasy Alarm HERE! Now, let’s dive into this scary Monday Night slate!
Quarterbacks
With Joe Flacco and Tom Savage slinging the ball around the yard on Monday Night Football, this game could be quite ugly. Flacco is averaging just 173 yards per game through the air this year which would be a career low. Tom Savage on the other hand has been consistent since becoming the starter due to Deshaun Watson’s injury, averaging 223 yards through the air. He, unlike Flacco, has a big time weapon in DeAndre Hopkins so big games are possible simply because Hopkins’ playmaking ability. Flacco is the big favorite here and has a good secondary backing him, but Savage is in a good spot and you could definitely take a flier on him.
Rushing
For question two we move on to the rushing game. Alex Collins is Boom’s favorite for most rushing yards, followed by Lamar Miller, Javorius Allen, and Alfred Blue. With Danny Woodhead back, Buck Allen has essentially been phased out of the Baltimore offense, so he shouldn’t warrant much attention here. Alfred Blue could get a few carries per game going forward with D’Onta Foreman injured, but Lamar Miller is going to dominate the carries in the Houston backfield. The Ravens have allowed the ninth most rushing yards this year, making Lamar Miller a solid option. Miller will see a lot of touches, especially seeing how Tom Savage could potentially have a tough time finding open receivers. Collins has seen 10 or more carries in six straight games, including a season-high 20 in the Ravens last game. Collins may have a tough time finding running late on Monday, however, seeing that Houston has allowed the third fewest rushing yards this season.
Receiving
Moving right along, question three brings us the pass catchers. Mike Wallace is the favorite here, but he is such a volatile option. He’s seen 10 targets in a game, but he’s seen as few as one as well, which would obviously limit his receiving yards upside. Following Wallace is Bruce Ellington, Benjamin Watson and Lamar Miller. Ellington has become a huge part of the Texans offense since Tom Savage has taken over, notching 24 targets over the last three games. They’ve only resulted in 126 yards, but the more targets obviously the greater chance of a big play. Watson continues to be a safe option as he’s one of Joe Flacco’s favorite targets and Lamar Miller will pick up some more pass catching responsibilities with Foreman out, so he may be worth taking a risk on.
Sticking with the pass catching theme, Boom asks us who will catch the most passes between Jeremy Maclin, Bruce Ellington, Danny Woodhead, and C.J. Fiedorowicz. The Ravens have shut down tight ends all year and Fiedorowicz has just seven targets since returning from injury. Woodhead is so sneaky here, especially when we note he had five catches last week in his return from IR, so he clearly is going to play a huge role in this offense. Ellington we mentioned above has seen 24 passes come his way in the last three weeks so he is someone you could take a chance on. But Jeremy Maclin is and should be the favorite. Maclin has five plus targets in seven straight contests, so there is no reason to think he won’t hit that mark again, which should translate to receptions as well.
Touchdowns
Breaking down this next question won’t be very hard. Who will score the most touchdowns on Monday Night Football? This question seems as big of a lock as it gets. The four players involved in this question are DeAndre Hopkins, Mike Wallace, Braxton Miller and Nick Boyle. It’s DeAndre Hopkins or bust, ladies and gents. Don’t overthink this. Tom Savage is force feeding Hopkins in double and triple teams.
NFL/NBA Hybrid
It’s no surprise that the basketball players are the favorites here for three-pointers made. Patty Mills is averaging nearly two three-pointers per game and he has to be the favorite here, which Boom properly made him just that. It’s hard to believe Savage or Flacco will throw more than two touchdowns, especially since neither QB have had a three touchdown game this season. Mills and Harrison Barnes are definitely the favorites here.
Receiving Yards
It’s really hard to predict Jeremy Maclin’s receiving yards because he hasn’t had many breakout performances this year. That being said, Houston has allowed the fifth most receiving yards in football, so this is Maclin’s big opportunity. Boom has set his O/U at 43, but I’d bet he’ll be over by games end.
DeAndre Hopkins has eclipsed 76 yards in four straight games and 86 or more in three of them. Hopkins has 200 yard upside and a safe floor with Tom Savage force feeding him the ball no matter the coverage or the situation. The sky’s the limit for Hopkins and this could be one of those monster, plus 100-yard outings.
