Joe Mixon, HOU

If you wait until the 5th or 6th round to take your first or second RB, Joe Mixon should be rock solid. The scheme Bobby Slowik uses in Houston is the same one they use in SF and MIA with a high-end left tackle.

Behind Trent Williams and Kyle Juszczyk, Christian McCaffrey led the league in yards before contact. Behind Terron Armstead and Alec Ingold, De’Von Achane led the league in yards before contact per carry. And, behind Laremy Tunsil and Andrew Beck, Devin Singletary accumulated more than 60% of his yards BEFORE contact.

The knock on Mixon has been efficiency and creating for himself but that should be less of a problem in the ascending offense in Houston. And they paid him more than Devin Singletary and Zack Moss to be there.

Alvin Kamara, NO

There were rumors that Kamara could be traded or cut during free agency. But guess what? That didn’t happen. He served his three-game suspension last year then proceeded to have the third most points per game in PPR (FFPC, RT, BB10) and the fifth most points per game in half PPR (Underdog).

He also led all RBs in targets per game. He’s currently going at RB17 in the 6th round. Do we expect them to all of a sudden stop throwing the ball to Alvin Kamara? He should crack your lineup a ton. They did not add a running back in the draft.

Zamir White, LV

This is a post-draft update for us as we wanted to see what the Raiders would do in the draft. And they did add someone - in the sixth round. Well before that they added Brock Bowers, Jackson Powers-Johnson, and DJ Glaze in the first, second, and third round that should boost their blocking prowess.

Rookie Dylan Laube is an interesting stab late in drafts too but it's not like they took Jonathan Brooks or Trey Benson in the third here. And the addition of an average backup like Alexander Mattison is honestly a positive to me - you could not find a less threatening playing. As of now, White still goes off the board as RB24 so we need to take advantage of that before folks realize he's the clear cut starter.

Austin Ekeler, WAS

Ekeler will join former LAC head coach and now WAS RB coach Anthony Lynn this year. He’ll split with Brian Robinson, but Ekeler is the clear pass-down back and a documented history of finding the end zone when given the ball in space in the red area.

He’s an outspoken guy and has essentially told us that is the plan for him which sounds good at R29 off the board. The pass-catching ability for Ekeler offers a decent floor for Zero Rb teams and we know he’s capable of scoring.

Devin Singletary, NYG

Sure, it’s a downgrade from HOU but RB36 is underrated for what Singletary can offer us. He was paid decent money to be the starting RB for an NFL team, after all. And we watched him beat out the incumbent Dameon Pierce last season where he proved he still has plenty left in the tank.

He paid off in spades for the folks who drafted him last year and could provide similar value this time around. They didn't add another RB in the draft until the 166th pick in the fifth round so it wasn't a priority for them. Based on current ADP the SECOND running back for five teams are being drafted before Singletary comes off the board.
