It is already that time in the postseason where we have a one game slate thanks to a few series coming to an early conclusion. That is a fate the Atlanta Hawks are attempting to avoid tonight as they return home trailing the Boston Celtics three games to two. The Hawks will get Dejounte Murray back from a one game suspension which is certainly a plus after they eked out a two-point victory on Tuesday to stay alive. As we work on setting those NBA DFS Showdown Slate lineups for tonight, let us take a look at some options to consider.

NBA DFS MVP/Captain Picks

Trae Young, Atlanta Hawks

With a player like Young, playing the hot hand and following momentum is always going to desirable. We do have to allow for the fact that Murray was suspended in Game 5 which allowed Young to take 33 shots on his way to a 38 point, 13 assist effort. Chasing yesterday’s production is also something we want to avoid, but it was the third straight game with at least 32 points for Young who has not had less than nine assists in that stretch. As they try to make it to another day, Atlanta will likely ask for, and receive, a similar effort from Young tonight.

Jayson Tatum, Boston Celtics

Tatum’s talent and track record both speak for themselves, but the forward will be looking to avenge a rough (eight of 21) shooting performance from Tuesday. It is still a great matchup for Tatum against the Hawks and we know that Atlanta looks to push things, so the most expensive player on the slate is sure to generate a lot of attention. Prior to Tuesday, Tatum had scored at least 25 points in each of the first four games of the series while grabbing double-digit rebounds in three of those games.

Derrick White, Boston Celtics

To this point, the postseason has certainly seemed to agree with White as the guard has reached double figures in each of the five games while also getting a minimum of 30 minutes of playing time. White’s playing time does not appear to be going anywhere, and he also provides a few rebounds and assists so that makes him a strong option here if you are looking for some cost efficiency.

NBA DFS Utility Options

Jaylen Brown, Boston Celtics

After a strong start to the series, Brown had two steps back prior posting two strong games in which he scored 31 and 35 points. In the case of Tuesday, it was to account for Tatum’s shooting struggles, but with Brown, we never have any concerns with respect to volume or playing time.

Dejounte Murray, Atlanta Hawks

As a baseline so far against Boston, Murray is good for at least 23 points, six rebounds, and six assists to start with while also showing upside across the board. After being suspended for Game 5, Murray should be motivated in his return as he continues to do a great job of filling the box score.

Al Horford, Boston Celtics

It is a clear concern that Horford has not appeared to really be involved in Boston’s offense so far this postseason, but he did put up 30 DK points on Tuesday despite taking just five shots. Granted we can’t expect Horford to block five shots per game on a nightly basis but we have seen him knock down some shots in the past and the fact that he contributes across each of the other categories also helps.

De’Andre Hunter, Atlanta Hawks

While Hunter has not played less than 30 minutes against Boston and he has reached double figures in each game, there is a big difference between 11 points and 27 points when the forward is not a huge factor on the boards. Hunter can grab double figure rebounds, but it is not something he does consistently, although (especially from a GPP perspective) it clearly helps that he is a large part of Atlanta’s offense.

NBA DFS Dart Throws

John Collins, Atlanta Hawks

We know that value is harder to find at this point in the season, but Collins is going to play at least 20, and likely closer to 30, minutes per game. The problem is that he can go from scoring five points in Game 4 to scoring 22 points on Tuesday (although Murray was out) and we don’t want to go chasing here. Collins will add a few rebounds and the playing time helps as well which puts him on our radar.

Sam Hauser, Boston Celtics

If you really need some cost relief, Hauser is playing 10 to 15 minutes per game and can quickly knock down a few buckets. Game flow and foul trouble will likely play a factor here as well.
