Daily Dribble

Welcome to the Daily Dribble where we serve up the latest Fantasy Basketball news and insight so you can make BBQ chicken of your competition. We’ll focus on Daily Fantasy Site (DFS) play, but we will sprinkle in some weekly, season long, and/or dynasty/keeper league insight that should help shape your decision making going forward, as well.

Friday, February 7th

Fun Day Friday with a lot of tasty matchups, but before we get to that shoutout to RussARMNY for taking down the DraftStreet NBA Big Score. I on other hand had the pleasure of owning Nick Young and/or Luol Deng on my teams, so that crushed the great performances from Blake Griffin, Jeff Green, JJ Hickson, and a few others who appeared in my Wednesday Daily League Picks article who @anteup11 said helped him score 356 points on Draft Kings. Nice job Tony B! Remember, If any of you who read our daily league articles and you cash and/or win yourself a qualifier feel free to tweet me @FantasyNomad and I would be glad to share your success story in an upcoming Daily Dribble article and on twitter. If you are looking some fun action tonight Draft Street has a $25,000 guaranteed tournament with $5,000 going to 1st and the top 300 spots getting paid. The entry fee is only $11, and they also have multiple price leveled qualifiers for their $500K Fantasy Basketball Championship (DSBBC) going on everyday.

In addition to today’s Daily Dribble article look for our Daily League Picks article, which will provide you with tiered recommendations for this evening’s DFS contests, in the NBA Articles section on our homepage.

Injury News

I will focus on any injury news that pertains to this evening’s slate of games, but be sure to visit our Player News section to catch up on other injuries and player insight that will give you a head start when it comes to planning future lineups.

Kevin Love (neck) status is still unknown for Friday's game in New Orleans. Love missed Wednesday's game due to a stiff neck and is looking like a game-time decision again on Friday. If Love were to miss the game it may be even more reason to spend on Anthony Davis in DFS play Friday. Corey Brewer is expected to be back after missing Wednesday’s game due to the birth of his child. Although Brewer may play with a little extra emotion, if that is even possible, the Pelicans are one of the better teams at defending the small forward position lately (4th fewest FP last 15 days) and on the season (6th fewest).

Nets coach Jason Kidd said center Kevin Garnett will “most likely not” play in Friday night’s game against the Detroit Pistons. Without Garnett, Andray Blatche becomes an enticing player to consider rostering tonight. (For more on why check out today’s Daily League Picks article, which comes out at 5pm this evening here NBA Articles).

Lance Stephenson (back) will NOT play tonight against the Blazers.

Avery Bradley reaggravated his ankle in Wednesday’s game and did not practice on Thursday. Be sure to follow @FantasyAlarm to find out his status later today when the Celtics make a decision on his availability for tonight’s game at home against the Kings.

Jordan Farmar and Jordan Hill are expected to play tonight in Philly in a matchup of two of the worst defenses in the league. The Sixers are allowing the most points per game to opposing teams this season so you should be able to find plenty of value with the Lakers tonight.

J.J. Redick missed Wednesday’s game with a hip injury and is questionable for their home matchup against the Raptors. If Redick misses tonight you can upgrade Jamal Crawford again who started and played a game-high 47 minutes Wednesday finishing with 31 points, three rebounds, six assists, three steals, and five turnovers in the loss to the Heat.

Tyreke Evans (ribs) missed Wednesday’s game and is questionable for tonight’s home game against the TWolves. I do not too often recommend Al-Farouq Aminu as he is way too inconsistent, but tonight provides a favorable matchup and he is averaging 11 points, seven rebounds, and a steal per game in the two times he has faced the TWolves this season.

Statistical Nuances from the Nomad

I have not talked too much about using Vegas odds as tool for targeting players, but it is something you should add to your arsenal while constructing your roster. Some keys when looking to Vegas odds are that you want to find some of the contests that are expected to be high scoring and it is even more beneficial if Vegas expects the game to be close so it is less likely a blowout will occur and your players go to the bench early. Three games in particular stand out tonight:

Lakers at Philadelphia which is expected to be the highest scoring contest this evening as the over/under is set at 217.5 and it is expected to be a close affair as the spread is three points in favor of the 76ers. This will be a popular game among DFS players tonight as you can create some interesting stacks and very reasonable prices. Some players that jump off the page, include all Philly starters and Wes Johnson, Jordan Farmar, and even Robert Sacre if you were desperate to pinch some pennies at a position.

Denver at New York Knicks over/under 207.5 with the Knicks getting a point and a half. The Nuggets are allowing the fourth most points per game to opposing teams and are one of the top 10 worst teams in limiting rebounds to their opponents. The obvious player to target is reigning Eastern Conference Player of the Month Carmelo Anthony, but Tyson Chandler and the improved producing J.R. Smith from the Knicks. From the Nuggets side Ty Lawson, Randy Foye are almost most starts based on the minutes and high usage rate the two of them have been seeing and Kenneth Faried also could wreck some havoc tonight as well.

Brooklyn at Detroit over/under at 204 points with the Nets getting a point and a half. As I mentioned above, the Nets will be without Kevin Garnett, which should help the Pistons bigs even more. The Pistons are one of the worst defensive teams in the NBA as they are allowing the sixth most points per game to their opponents and are especially poor at defending the point guard (allowing 8th most FP on the season), small forward (2nd most FP) and center position (9th most FP), thus Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, and Andray Blatche are worth considering tonight.
