Underdog Fantasy MLB Picks April 29: Corbin Carroll In Great Matchup
It’s the freakin’ weekend, baby, and we got a full day of Major League Baseball action on hand with plenty of player props from which to choose over at Underdog Fantasy. Our top MLB Underdog plays of the day today feature Corbin Carroll of the Arizona Diamondbacks at Coors Field, Reid Detmers of the Los Angeles Angels facing the Milwaukee Brewers, and Texas Rangers starter Nathan Eovaldi taking on the New York Yankees. Check out these free MLB player props and MLB daily picks on Underdog Fantasy for “Pick'Em” contests tonight. While there shouldn’t be any substantial weather to impact these games, it’s never a bad idea to check out our MLB weather report and the confirmed MLB lineups prior to first pitch. Here are my top MLB player props on Underdog Fantasy for Saturday, April 29.
Corbin Carroll OVER 0.5 Singles
Carroll in Colorado? Yes please! We’ve seen Colorado’s Noah Davis twice in the bigs this year, and he’s served up a .313/.389/.313 slash to left-handed hitters. We can attack Davis with left-handed hitters, and that’s exactly what we are going to do with the budding fantasy superstar. We just need one single from Corbin Carroll, and during his seven-game hit streak, he has six singles alongside his .478 average and .559 wOBA. He’s hitting .295 on the road this year, and he has a .308 average on the road when facing a right-hander. I love Carroll in this matchup, and one of his multiple hits tonight should be a single.
Reid Detmers OVER 90.5 Pitch Count
Detmers isn’t the most efficient dude on the mound, but he’s in a good spot tonight against Milwaukee. You can also look at his line of 6.5 strikeouts, given that Milwaukee has the league’s worst strikeout rate against southpaws here in 2023. However, I like his pitch count prop, because while Milwaukee strikes out a lot, they are also league average in terms of walk rate against lefties, so I could expect them to work up Detmers’ pitch count. However, Detmers will be effective enough to let the Angels work deeper into this game, allowing his pitch count to rise. He’s thrown at least 89 pitches in each start this season, and he’s averaging 93.5 pitches per start over his last two. For the season as a whole, he’s averaging a shade over 91 pitches per outing.
Nathan Eovaldi OVER 5.5 Strikeouts
Simply put, I expect Eovaldi to have his way with what should be a depleted Yankees lineup. Without Aaron Judge, this lineup looks brutal, and even with him in it, they haven’t been great. The Yankees have the 11th-highest strikeout in baseball against right-handed pitching and over the last calendar week they have the fifth-lowest wRC+ in baseball! Eovaldi has at least six strikeouts in four of his five starts this year, including both of his home starts on the year. Keep an eye on the New York lineup, but make sure you get some action on this early before it moves.
