We have an eight-game MLB DFS main slate on Monday, August 7th, on DraftKings and FanDuel. It’s a fun slate with a little bit of everything. Spencer Strider, Gerrit Cole, and Freddy Peralta top the pitching slate. There are some interesting value options on the mound that we’ll get into later. Some MLB DFS top stacks including the Texas Rangers, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Atlanta Braves all stand out. Be sure to check out all of our tools including the MLB Lineups page, MLB DFS Projections – powered by FanJections –, MLB DFS Ownership, and all of the rest of our tools HERE! Let's dive into today's playbook, core plays, and top stacks of the day!

MLB DFS Weather Center

Atlanta Braves @ Pittsburgh Pirates

This game is likely delayed start and play. Things could get worse throughout the day, but it doesn’t look like this game is at risk for a postponement.

Chicago Cubs @ New York Mets

We have rain in the forecast, but it looks as if the worst-case scenario is a delay. There are winds to deal with as they could be upwards of 20 MPH out to left field.

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Spencer Strider, Atlanta Braves

It’s really hard to not want Spencer Strider in your lineup tonight. He’s had 9+ K’s in EIGHT straight starts and in the two starts he struggled, he still put up 18.7 and 27.9 DKP. Nobody around baseball has the highest floor/ceiling combination as Strider. Pittsburgh has a 27% K-rate against right-handed pitching since the All-Star break to add. The kicker is Strider is almost 13K, so can you afford him comfortably to get to some bats as well?

Gerrit Cole, New York Yankees

Cole has been amazing lately. Since June 3rd, which is an 11-start span, Cole has a 2.33 ERA, 28.9% K-rate, and has held opponents to a .210 AVG. Cole faces the White Sox here and they’re in a freefall. Since the All-Star break, the White Sox have a 24.7% K-rate and rank 29th in OPS and 30th in wOBA against right-handed pitching. There is better win equity with the Yankees in this spot, especially with Aaron Judge back in the lineup for the team. Cole is a perfect pivot off Strider if you’re struggling to build a lineup with him.

Freddy Peralta, Milwaukee Brewers

Vegas LOVES Freddy Peralta today. He has incredible strikeout odds at 8.5, his run total at just 1.5, the odds are very close, and the second-best odds to record a win. He’s EXTREMELY popular on this slate as he checks in higher owned than any other pitcher by a longshot. He faces a Rockies offense that has been striking out a ton since the break. They have a 26.3% K-rate against right-handed pitching along with a 19th in OPS and 17th in wOBA. He has the propensity for an occasional blow-up so I’ll be lower than the field (nearly 50%) but I like him here.

Dane Dunning, Texas Rangers

Twice over his last seven starts, Dunning has struck out 10+ batters and for a guy who hasn’t struck out a lot of batters on a consistent basis has shown a high ceiling. He faces Oakland here and Oakland’s been a team striking out a lot. They’ve struck out 25.8% of the time against RHP since the break and have a 25.3% K-rate on the year against righties. Oakland is 29th in OPS and wOBA against right-handed pitching on the year. He’ll be a popular SP2 here. Patrick Sandoval is a solid pivot.

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Corey Seager, Texas Rangers

Seager has not skipped a beat after spending time on the IL homering in three of four games and dating back games before the IL stint he’s homered in five of his last seven. Seager has crushed left-handed pitching posting a .269 ISO and a .417 wOBA against them. Ken Waldichuk has been bad against lefty bats allowing a .314 ISO and a .414 wOBA. He’s allowed 2.12 HR/9, a 42% FB rate, and a 39.2% hard-hit rate against lefties as well.

Matt Olson, Atlanta Braves

I mean, this guy is hitting so many home runs all the time. He’s homered in three of his last four games and seven times over his last nine games. His numbers against righties are getting more insane each and every day as he’s up to a .376 ISO and .441 wOBA. Osvaldo Bido has struggled against lefties this year allowing a .308 AVG and .377 wOBA. Over his last 30 days, Olson has a .431 ISO against righties. Olson and Seager are my top two spends on this slate.

Justin Turner, Boston Red Sox

Turner has been fantastic against left-handed pitching all season long and faces Cole Ragans who’s been pretty good thus far but is regression on the way? He’s had a high flyball rate through last year and this year against right-handed bats as his opponents just have a .284 BABIP. Turner’s posted a .262 ISO and a .402 wOBA against southpaws this season. At home against LHP, he’s hit .333 with a 1.020 OPS and .283 ISO, which is his best split.

Ezequiel Duran, Texas Rangers

We could see Duran hitting up in the order with a lefty on the mound and Josh Jung is now out for an extended time. Duran has been great against left-handed pitching all year long batting .306 with a .979 OPS, .294 ISO, and .410 wOBA. Righties, like lefties, have hit Ken Waldichuk hard as he’s allowed a .195 ISO and .381 wOBA. I love the price and the multi-position eligibility Duran presents.

Brandon Belt, Toronto Blue Jays

Belt is coming into this game quite hot notching multiple hits in four of five games with a .918 OPS over the last 10 games. Belt’s been good against right-handed pitching putting up a .218 ISO and .370 wOBA. It’s been better than that lately, too, notching a .291 ISO and .382 wOBA over his last 30 days. Gavin Williams has struggled against lefties this season allowing a .181 ISO and .360 wOBA.

Michael Massey, Kansas City Royals

This match-up could be REALLY dangerous for Red Sox starter Brayan Bello as he takes on the Royals and Massey. Bello has been awful against left-handed bats this year and it’s been especially bad lately as he’s allowed a .423 ISO and .449 wOBA to them over the last 30 days. Over the last 30 days, Massey has a .302 ISO against righties along with a .345 wOBA. Massey’s a fantastic value option tonight.
