MLB Weather Today, May 2

San Francisco Giants vs. Boston Red Sox

  • Some afternoon rain expected in the area that could possibly cause a delay but no extended impact here.

MLB DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

I gotta be honest here. This slate is NOT great. I'm looking at likely double spending at the pitching position on DraftKings and looking to piece together a lineup with some Cubs value here against Adrian Houser

If you look at the current rostership percentages you see Kyle Harrison getting the most love in the mid-tier with Ben Brown as the top rostered value starter. Having to pick two starters for DK is the struggle today. Those playing on FanDuel are in a better spot.

Recommended MLB DFS Starting Pitchers

Top Options For Strikeouts

Best Odds For A Win

Core MLB DFS Pitchers

Edward Cabrera, Miami Marlins

Cabrera got roughed up in his most recent start but the Rockies continue to be the worst offense in baseball which brings about a ton of upside for opposing pitchers, especially pitchers with the elite strikeout upside of Cabrera. The Marlins are also heavy favorites here this afternoon with Cabrera having the second best odds to pick up a win on today's slate.

Nathan Eovaldi, Texas Rangers

The man with the best win odds on the slate is Nathan Eovaldi. I've talked a lot about not using pitchers against the Nationals given their lack of strikeouts and ability to drive up pitch counts but Eovaldi is +100 to get a win and the Rangers are -200 favorites here today.

Carlos Rodon, New York Yankees

I'm not really in love with this matchup here as the Orioles offense has been one of the best in baseball this season but Rodon is +145 to get the win and the Yankees are favorites here on the slate. It wasn't too long ago that Rodon was among the elite pitchers and he has turned in some good outings this season, even if those came against weak lineups. He has the highest upside of the mid-tier grouping.

Recommended MLB DFS Hitters

Highest Expected Run Totals

Core MLB DFS Hitters

Juan Soto, New York Yankees

Soto is heating up right now, hitting .297 with three homers and an OPS of .968 over the last 10 games. He faces a returning Kyle Bradish here this afternoon and the Yankees have one of the highest team implied run totals on the day.

Christopher Morel, Chicago Cubs

Adrian Houser shouldn't be too tough of a test for the Cubs today who rank out as one of my favorite value stacks on today's slate. We know Morel can get hot with the home run swing at any time and while the Cubs offense as a whole looks out of sync given their current injuries but sometimes bad pitching is a cure for bad hitting.

Mike Tauchman, Chicago Cubs

Sticking with the Cubs here against Adrian Houser, Tauchman is hitting second in the Chicago lineup today and is on a nice run currently. Over his last 10 games he is hitting .375 with an OPS of 1.262 with three homers. Of the Cubs hitters, he and Nico Hoerner make for a nice stack with Morel today.

Rob Refsnyder, Boston Red Sox

This man is in baseball because he hits left-handed pitching. In a limited sample this season against southpaws he is hitting .300 with a .400 wOBA. Last season he hit .308 against lefties with a .373 wOBA and the year before that it was .359 with a .425 wOBA. You get the picture.
