Hitters ----
Play of the Day: Mike Trout-- Trout is batting .350 over his last 10 games and has reached base safely nine times over his last three games. Trout went deep for the 20th time last night in just his 63rd game of the season. He's the top option if you're paying up tonight.
Top Play: Mookie Betts-- Betts and the Red Sox have the highest projected run total of the slate, by far, tonight as they face Miguel Gonzalez from the White Sox. Betts is 4-for-9 with four RBI over his last two games, after going just 3-for-27 in his previous six games.
Value Play: Tim Beckham-- Beckham is still a minimum price SS option tonight, as he looks to continue his hot hitting for his new team. Beckham is 4-for-8 with two doubles, and a triple over his last two games. Once again, Baltimore is projected to score over 5.5 runs tonight.
Value Play: Jesse Winker-- Winker is a minimum price OF option tonight if you're looking to save salary. He’s been batting second, and has hit a home run in his first two games since being called up again. Kuhl has not allowed a HR since July 1 though, but the Pirates are 1-8 vs. the Reds this season.
Pitchers ----
Play of the Day: Corey Kluber- Kluber is 5-1, with a 1.86 ERA in 11 starts since coming off the DL back on June 1st. Kluber has struck out 120 while walking only 14 during
this run. He’s facing the Yankees for the first time this season, but was 2-0 with a 1.13 ERA vs. them last year.
Top Play: Alex Wood -Wood and the Dodgers are only losing to the Braves this Summer, but they are still heavy favorites Thursday. Wood’s only loss this year is when he allowed seven earned runs vs. the Braves, but I am expecting a much better start tonight. Wood has 110 Ks in 98 ? innings in his starts not against the Braves.
Pivot Play: Collin McHugh-- McHugh’s pitch limit has been lifted after throwing 77 and 82 pitches in his first two starts since his elbow injury. McHugh has averaged over a strikeout per inning in his two starts, and looking to get Houston back on the winning track Thursday vs. the Rays.
GPP Play: Chris Tillman-- Tillman is a higher risk GPP option that has a very cheap price tag tonight. Tillman has not pitched more than six innings this season, and hasn’t received a win in 13 straight starts. Baltimore’s starting pitchers allowed only two runs in 22 innings vs. the Royals, and Tillman is 6-0, with a 2.45 ERA in nine career starts vs the Tigers.
