Tired of season long games?
Injuries beating you down to the point that you’re having a hard time getting motivated?
The folks over at RotoDerby have the medicine for what ails you.
They have created a game that focuses primarily on the home run, not the total game of a player, and it’s super simple to get involved in the action.
1 – I’ll lay out the rules.
2 – I’ll talk prizes.
3- I’ll give some advice on some of the players to target/avoid.
4 – I’ll let you know how you can take on me and the Fantasy Alarm crew in a league this season.
Simple, competitive, fun.
THE RULES
Not much to it. You can pretty much take in all the rules in about two minutes.
Rosters |
Six Infielders |
Four Outfielders |
|
Scoring |
HR : 5 pts |
RBI : 1 pt |
K : (-1) pt |
Simple, right? Some further data.
A player must have hit at least 13 home runs last season to be eligible for the contest.
You cannot roster more than 215 homers on your roster, that’s the salary cap. What that means is that your 10 hitters, again six infielders and four outfielders, cannot have hit more than 215 homers last season.
You chose your roster of 10 players and you can edit that group any time until the season starts at which point the roster locks for the entire season.
There is no free agency.
There is no trading.
It’s lock and load, draft masters style, with one caveat.
The standings reset every month. At the start of each month the standings reset back to zero giving the league six different competitions through the course of the 2016 season.
PRIZES
First place winners each month can win up to $1,000 (for a mere $29 entry fee).
There are also free leagues if you just want to play to check it out.
PLAYER ADVICE
There are many resources you should consider when choosing your team. Let’s go through a couple of them.
RotoDerby provides a cheatsheet that lists players total in homers, runs batted in and strikeouts. The cheatsheet also provides 2016 Projections if you want to look forward.
