Week 9 is almost over, only Monday Night Football with the Eagles and Saints remains, but here are some of the more interesting bits of information that I was able to glean from the weekend, as well as a couple of general overviews of players who some look at as disappointments when they really aren't.Dez Bryant took a painkilling injection for his hip and said he was physically fine for Week 9. Who do we blame for his one catch for 15 yards on four targets then?Reggie Bush is still the back to own in Miami, but clearly he's not 100 percent physically, and the Dolphins understand that he is best suited to run in space. As a result, Daniel Thomas has seen his workload increase the past few weeks as the thunder to Bush's lightning. Shockingly, over the past two games Thomas has played more snaps (74) than Bush (58). Still, Bush has 27 touches to Thomas' 24 in those two contests, but it's clear that things are shifting in Miami to the point where Thomas might edge himself into flex talk on a weekly basis. Remember back when you thought Andy Dalton was the bee's knee's? Has that luster finally wore off? Dalton is the first Bengals QB to ever throw an interception in 8-straight games, and his total of 11 picks this season is just two under the 13 he threw all of last season (he's thrown seven in his last four games).Tony Gonzalez has really seen his production slow of late, but he is still having a tremendous season. He's been able to haul in 50 passes, second at the position to the 58 of Jason Witten, and that gives him 15 consecutive seasons with 50 receptions. Only one other player in NFL history has accomplished that feat – Jerry Rice did it 17-straight years during his illustrious career.Robert Griffin III had his worst full game of his rookie season throwing for only 215 yards and no touchdowns. The positive was that he failed to throw an interception while rushing 11 times for 53 yards. Still, for all the greatness, it's a bit troubling to see that he has only eight passing scores in nine games.Brian Hartline had a nice game in Week 9 (eight receptions,107 yards) for a guy who entered the game with a groin issue that some thought might preclude him from being effective in the contest. Through eight games played Hartline is on pace for 82 receptions and 1,324 yards which would be one whopper of a season. However, he's only scored one time, and he has been all over the map in terms of his weekly fantasy production as one of the least consistent of the wide receivers who are catching a lot of passes. Here are his per game point total in a PPR setup: 8, 20.1, 5.1, 43.3, 9.9, 0, 8.1 and 18.7. That's a solid average of 14.2 points a week, but as you can see from the numbers he's only reached that average in three of the eight games.Calvin Johnson had a hell of a game in Week 9 after there was worry up until 90 minutes before game time that he wouldn't even play because of a wonky knee. Johnson ended up with seven receptions for 129 yards, and at the halfway point of his season he is on pace for 96 receptions and 1,534 yards (he had 96 and 1,681 last season). All anyone can talk about though is his total of just one score and how he stinks. Simply not true. After being tackled at the two yard line in Week 9 CJ has now been hauled down inside the two yards line five different times this season. Now if he had six TDs right now, and was on pace for a season of 96-1534-12, would you be complaining?Andrew Luck has replaced all-time great Peyton Manning amazingly well in his first season in the NFL. How about this for a coincidence. Luck has thrown for 2,404 yards leading his team to a 5-3 record. Peyton Manning has thrown for 2,404 yards while leading his team to a 5-3 record. Luck threw for 433 yards in Week 9 to set an all-time single game rookie record.Eli Manning has failed to throw for 200 yards in three of his last four games. Amazingly he still leads the NFL in passing yards heading into Monday Night Football (Drew Brees will blow past him as he's tossed for 2,310 yards compared to Manning's 2,426 yards). Eli can thank the fact that he has played nine games while many others are at eight.Doug Martin is just the second player in NFL history to run for 250 yards while scoring four times in one game. The other was Mike Anderson in 2000. Note. On back-to-back carries in the outing Martin ran for 137 yards and two scores. I keep hearing complaints about Ryan Mathews, and my question to you is – has he really been that poor a performer? Has Mathews been a top-5 RB this season? Clearly the answer is no. But he also hasn't been a total failure either. Since Week 3 of the NFL season Mathews is averaging 13.9 points per game in a PPR league, the 15th best mark at the position. That total would be much higher if he just got into the end zone as he's scored only one time this season. It should be pointed out that he is averaging 70.2 yards a game on the ground versus LeSean McCoy (72.0), C.J. Spiller (70.3) and Maurice Jones-Drew (69.0). Mathews has also caught 21 balls, more than Doug Martin (20), Reggie Bush (20) and Matt Forte (20). Just like Calvin Johnson, it's been all about the lack of touchdowns.Michael Turner clearly isn't the player he once was, but he's still on pace for 1,034 rushing yards and 10 total touchdowns, and that ain't half bad.Ray Flowers can be heard daily on Sirius/XM Radio on The Fantasy Drive on Sirius 210 and XM 87, Monday through Thursday at 7 PM EDT and Friday's at 9 PM EDT.
