Eleven games, no problem! Are you spending up for pitching today? No problem! Do you need value bats? No problem! Do you need a second starter at DraftKings? No problem. All of that and more in today’s Value Vault! There aren’t too many serious weather concerns today, outside of Cleveland, but keep an eye on things nonetheless. There’s a lot of good value to be had today, and two bats in a popular stack that you can’t live without today. Without further ado, let’s jump into today’s Value Vault!

Both Sites

Colin Moran, 1B PIT ($2,500 FD/$2,900 DK) - If you woke up today feeling like you needed a BvP play today, look no further. The rest of the Pittsburgh lineup shouldn’t intimidate Adrian Houser too much, but Moran does. In 11 at-bats against Houser, Moran has seven hits (2 HR), good for a .636 average and .727 wOBA. Sheesh! Moran is a .260 hitter on the road this year, and he has a surprising .313 average against right-handers. It’s not often you feel good about playing Pirates, but Moran is as good as they come today.

Brendan Rodgers, 2B COL ($2,200 FD/$2,900 DK) - In the month of June, Rodgers is hitting .323 with a .438 wOBA and 166 wRC+. Rodgers’ numbers against lefties are better than against righties, but at least in June, he’s homered off a righty, so there’s some pop there. This is more of attacking a price point, and the fact that Rodgers has hit safely in seven of his last nine games.

Adam Duvall, OF MIA ($2,900 FD/$3,800 DK) - Duvall has homered off Drew Smyly once for his career, but he could add to that total today. Duvall’s average against lefties isn’t great, but four of his eight hits against lefties this year have sailed over the fence. Smyly has had issues with the long ball this year, and his 2.65 HR/9 is an utter travesty. He’s been better on the road this year than at home, but I wouldn’t shy away from attacking Smyly and his 1.99 HR/9 and 10.1 percent walk rate on the road this year.

FanDuel

Marcus Semien, 2B TOR ($3,300) - Toronto is going to be a popular stack today, and rightfully so. Semien is hitting .261 off left-handers this year, and Perez has struggled at Fenway Park. Across 31 innings of work at home this year, Perez has served up a 5.52 ERA and .290 batting average against. Semien is rocking a five-game hit streak, and he’s hit safely in eight of 10 June contests.

Jazz Chisholm, SS MIA ($3,000) - Remember what I said about Drew Smyly earlier in Adam Duvall’s write up. Okay, good. Now, let’s throw another number into the mix. Smyly has been abused by left-handers this year, to the tune of a .304 average and .429 wOBA. Meanwhile, Chisholm has a .318 batting average against left-handed pitchers this year and he has four multi-hit contests in his last five games.

Teoscar Hernandez, OF TOR ($2,800) - It’s been a slow start to the month of June for Teoscar Hernandez, but a matchup against a southpaw is just what the doctor ordered. Hernandez has a .473 wOBA against lefties in 2021, and he’s hitting a cool .368 against them with three home runs in 38 at-bats. Martin Perez’s numbers are worse against right-handed hitters, and you can read about Perez’s struggles at home above.

DraftKings

Framber Valdez, SP HOU ($8,200) - I know Minnesota is very good against southpaws, don’t get me wrong, but this pricing by DraftKings seems a bit extreme. Valdez should not be the ninth-most expensive pitcher on this slate, coming in behind Adrian Houser. Valdez is better than that, and again, I know Minnesota is solid against southpaws, but Valdez is too good of a pitcher to be this cheap. Valdez is a ground ball extremist, and Minnesota could struggle putting runs up if they can’t send the ball flying out of the yard. Even if they get a few hits against Valdez, the run total should stay low, and Valdez is sporting an insane 76.1 percent ground ball rate since returning from injury. Without the long ball, Minnesota struggles, and Valdez has just a 0.49 HR/9 this season. He’s the perfect SP2 on DraftKings today.

Bobby Bradley, 1B CLE ($3,400) - Logan Gilbert has served up a .279 batting average to left-handed hitters this year, and albeit a limited sample size, Bradley is 6-for-12 with one home run and five RBI against righties this season. He’s appeared in just five games at the MLB level, but he’s sporting a 15.4 percent barrel rate and already logged a max exit velocity at an impressive 114.2 miles per hour. He crushes righties, or at least has done that so far, and that should continue today against the struggling Seattle righty.

Maikel Franco, 3B BAL ($2,500) - Franco has hit .333 off Michael Wacha for his career, and while Franco’s numbers for the year aren’t overly impressive, he could be turning a corner. In June, he’s hitting .265 with a .794 OPS, both of which would be his best marks in any month this season. Additionally, compared to his numbers for the year as a whole, his launch angle is up about 3.5 degrees, and his barrel rate is up over two percent. Now, neither mark is overwhelming, but it takes time to turn around a sinking ship. Against a familiar foe, I don’t mind some exposure to Franco in GPPs.
