Happy Independence Day to everyone! While enjoying some burgers, hot dogs, beers, time by the pool, or whatever you and yours will be doing today, take a bit to commemorate what the day is really about. If you’re going to be watching some baseball today, or at least making some lineups to hopefully make some cash while you’re hanging out poolside, you’ve come to the right place! Finding the studs for your lineup is a much easier task than finding the lower priced bats/arms to help round out your lineup. I put together the best value plays on the slate today, so keep on reading and Happy Fourth of July!
Both Sites
Brian Goodwin, OF CHW ($3,100 FD/$3,400 DK) - Goodwin gets another righty and his price point is affordable? Sign me up! He’s hitting .350 off righties this year, and Detroit’s Matt Manning has served up a .296 average and OPS near .910 to left-handed hitters! Over the last two weeks, Goodwin is hitting .270 with two home runs, three RBI and eight runs scored. Also, six of his 10 hits during this stretch have gone for extra bases.
Michael Taylor, OF KC ($2,400 FD/$2,100 DK) - Using our value metric here at Fantasy Alarm, Taylor is the best bang for your buck play on today’s main slate! Taylor has some pop in his bat, and Minnesota’s Kenta Maeda has struggled this year, allowing righties to hit an even .300 with a .367 wOBA. Taylor has hit safely in five of his last seven games, driving in seven runners and scoring three times himself. UPDATE - Taylor isn’t starting for the Royals. Pivot to Kiriloff or Sheets (CHW)
FanDuel
Wily Adames, SS MIL ($3,100 FD) - From an ERA perspective, Tyler Anderson has been better at home than on the road this year. However, his 3.83 ERA at home is a bit of a mirage, as home runs have been a problem at home, and he’s allowed a higher batting average against. Regardless, Adames is scorching hot right now, hitting .340 over the last two weeks with five home runs, 14 RBI and 13 runs scored. Luis Urias ($3,100) is also in play from this Milwaukee lineup today.
Cavan Biggio, 2B TOR ($2,700 FD) - Biggio is 5-for-12 off Tampa Bay’s Ryan Yarbrough, and while Biggio’s numbers overall against lefties are far from great, he has Yarbrough’s number. Toronto punishes left-handed pitching, so Biggio should have plenty of RBI chances with three of the five guys ahead of him in the lineup hitting at least .293 against southpaws. I love sneaking Biggio into a Toronto stack today, headlined with Bo Bichette, Marcus Semien and Teoscar Hernandez, or some combination of those guys.
DraftKings
Jesus Sanchez, OF MIA ($2,100 DK) - Sanchez has a .257 average versus righties this year, and Atlanta’s Charlie Morton has been more prone to left-handed hitters (.302 wOBA) compared to righties (.263 wOBA). Sanchez can’t be trusted in cash, but Morton hasn’t been great in day games this year, and he’s been worse at home (3.96 ERA) than on the road (3.41 ERA).
Zach Thompson, SP MIA ($6,400 DK) - Through 18 innings, the Miami pitcher has allowed just three runs total, and has punched out an impressive 24 batters in that span. Thompson has accrued at least 20 DraftKings points in each of his last three outings, and the Braves offense has the third-highest strikeout rate over the last two weeks, not to mention the sixth-lowest batting average.
