Week 20 is here and the fantasy playoffs are that much closer.  Let’s take a look at what players have been lighting it up over the past week and can help your team for that late season playoff push.

Catcher

10 Team League

Yasmani Grandal, LAD – Since last week Grandal went into a bit of a slump, going 0-for-11 but he snapped out of that funk in a big way on Tuesday by going 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBI and three runs scored.  On the year Grandal is hitting just .234 but with 35 runs, 19 home runs and 52 RBI.  While his overall batting average leaves much to be desired those who take a deeper dive into Grandal’s play will see that over the last month he is hitting .318 with 14 runs, seven home runs and 15 RBI which would rank him among the top catchers in fantasy.

12 Team League

Gary Sanchez, NYY- The Yankees rookie has seven games at catcher under his belt which is keeping him from being catcher eligible in some formats but he will be 100% catcher eligible come weeks end and he is a must add.  On the year he is hitting .340 with nine runs, four home runs and 10 RBI which includes going 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI on Tuesday against the Blue Jays.  New York is playing their young prospects and Sanchez is quickly leading the way for the new era of baseball in the Bronx.

15 Team League

Russell Martin, Tor-  Martin has appeared on this list a few times this season as the veteran catcher has had his fair share of ups and downs.  Currently he is on the uptick, having hit .353 with five runs, four home runs and seven RBI over the last seven days.  The Blue Jays boast one of the league’s top offenses and Martin should continue to come to the plate with a chance to drive in runs which makes him worth owning.

First Base

10 Team League

Mike Napoli, Cle- Well another week has come and gone and Mike Napoli is STILL hitting.  The Indians first basemen is hitting .480 with five runs, one home run and six RBI over the last seven days which has helped bring his season totals to a .266 average with 76 runs, 29 home runs and 85 RBI.  Despite all this production Napoli is owned in just 80 percent of standard leagues so check the wire and pick him up as he is the real deal in 2016 after a down 2015 season.

12 Team League

Brandon Moss, StL– Moss has been mashing since coming off of the disabled list and over the last week he is hitting .320 with five runs, three home runs and five RBI.  The batting average over the course of the season will always be a weak spot for Moss but he offers up 30 home run power and the Cardinals offense will present him with plenty of RBI opportunities.  He is owned in just 40 percent of standard leagues and has dual eligibility to pick him up before somebody else realizes what he is doing.

15 Team League

Justin Morneau, CWS – Morneau is barely owned in most formats and the fact that the White Sox just finished up an interleague series where Morneau didn’t play like has him under the radar but when he has played he has produced for the White Sox, hitting .301 with six runs, four home runs and 11 RBI.  Morneau went 2-for-4 with a solo shot off of Corey Kluber on Tuesday and figures to be the White Sox everyday DH for the rest of the way.  If healthy Morneau has the ability to hit for a decent average with power which makes him a solid grab in deeper formats.

Second Base

10 Team League

Dee Gordon, Mia- The injury to Giancarlo Stanton is going to impact the entire top half of the Marlins lineup so while Gordon may see a bit of a dip in runs scored than if Stanton was healthy the fact of the matter is Gordon is still hitting for a high average (.350) and swiping bases (3) over the last week.  He is owned in under 90 percent of standard leagues but given his ability to create his own production he should be closer to 100 percent owned.

12 Team League

Trea Turner, Wsh– Turner found himself in a minor slump for a bit but over the last seven days he has bounced back in a big way, hitting .379 with eight runs, one home run, two RBI and four stolen bases.  He is owned in just 60 percent of standard leagues despite being a fixture at the top of the Nationals lineup and offering enough pop and speed to be an impactful fantasy player for the get go.  If Bryce Harper ever gets going Turner could be piling up the runs in an ever greater fashion.

15 Team League

Howie Kendrick, LAD– Kendrick has very quietly put together a pretty solid season for the Dodgers, hitting .283 with 53 runs, eight home runs, 34 RBI and eight stolen bases.  His ability to hit for some power along with his ability to swipe the occasional base makes him perfect for deeper mixed leagues.  Over the last week he has been on fire, hitting .571 with five runs, one home run, five RBI and one stolen base.  Kendrick has the ability second base, third base and outfield which only adds to his fantasy value.  He’s owned in under 40 percent of leagues so if you need help filling out a CI, MI or OF spot give Kendrick a look.

Shortstop

10 Team League

Jose Ramirez, Cle – Ramirez has been one of the biggest surprises in baseball this season as he entered the year without an everyday job only to find himself as one of the top producing players in fantasy.  Over the last week he is hitting .393 with eight runs, two home runs, five RBI and seven stolen bases.  Overall this year he is hitting .311 with 64 runs, eight home runs, 51 RBI and 20 stolen bases.  He is eligible to play nearly every position but catcher and ranks among the top 10 shortstops yet is owned in just about 85 percent of standard leagues.

12 Team League

Brad Miller, TB – With the move from shortstop to first base Brad Miller has apparently acquired the power of a corner infielder as he is hitting .327 with 13 runs, seven home runs and 16 RBI over the last two weeks.  He has two multi-home run games over the past week which has him ranking as one of the top producing players in fantasy.  He is owned in just 70 percent of standard leagues and will soon be eligible at both shortstop and first base which only adds to his value.

15 Team League

Didi Gregorius, NYY – The Yankees first basemen is having a career season, hitting .287 with 51 runs, 16 home runs, 54 RBI and five stolen bases.  Over the last week Gregorius is hitting .310 with five runs, three home runs and five RBI.  He is currently owned in just 34 percent of standard leagues but with that short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium Gregorius looks poised for his first career 20-home run season.

Third Base

10 Team League

Anthony Rendon, Wsh – Rendon enjoying a solid bounce back season for the Nationals and is providing his fantasy owners with double-digit home runs and stolen base totals.  He is hitting .304 with two runs, two home runs and eight RBI over the last week and on the year is hitting .267 with 67 runs, 15 home runs, 54 RBI and 12 stolen bases which is good enough to have him ranking around the top 10 at the position.  He is dual eligible at both second base and third base which adds to his overall value and at just 85 percent owned he could be floating around your waiver wire and is worth grabbing.

12 Team League

Hernan Perez, Mil – Perez just keeps filling out the box score for his fantasy owners as he’s hitting .308 with three runs, two home runs, three RBI and one stolen base over the last week.  On the year Perez is hitting .286 with 32 runs, 10 home runs, 39 RBI and 21 stolen bases.  He is eligible at both third base and outfield which increases his fantasy value and is owned in just 65 percent of standard leagues which means he is likely floating around the wire in some leagues.

15 Team League

Martin Prado, Mia –Prado is as steady as they come and while he is not going to “WOW” you in any one category he will not hurt you either.  On the year Prado is hitting .326 with 57 runs, seven home runs, 55 RBI and one stolen base.   Over the last two weeks Prado has been even more impressive, hitting .346 with 10 runs, two home runs and 12 RBI.  He is owned in just 50 percent of standard leagues and would make for a solid corner infield add this late in the season.

Outfield

10 Team League

Rajai Davis, Cle – The Indians are giving Davis consistent playing time once again and he is rewarding both them and fantasy owners by filling up the box score.  Over the last two weeks Davis is hitting .324 with 10 runs, two home runs, five RBI and eight stolen bases.  He is owned in just under 40 percent of standard leagues but as long as he is getting nearly every day playing time he is a must own.  Davis currently ranks among the top 20 outfielders in fantasy.

12 Team League

Jayson Werth, Wsh – Werth has once again caught fire, hitting .308 with 10 runs, four home runs and eight RBI over the last two weeks.  He is a streaky player for sure but when locked in he can pile up the home runs in bunches.  Overall this year he is hitting .255 with 63 runs, 16 home runs and 53 RBI.  He is currently owned in about 35 percent of standard leagues but given his recent stretch of play he is worth the add.

15 Team League

Aaron Judge, NYY – Judge has made quite the impression since being called up, hitting .357 with three runs, two home runs and three RBI over his first 14 at bats.  There is light tower power in the bat of Aaron Judge but he is also going to strikeout a ton once pitchers figure him out.  For now he’s worth adding in deeper formats as he should hit for plenty of power for the remainder of the season.

Starting Pitchers

10 Team League

Ervin Santana, Min –Big Erv has been unreal for more than a month now, notching quality starts in eight of his last 10 starts while allowing more than two earned runs just once during that stretch which dates back to June 19th.  On the year he is just 6-9 with a 3.43 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP but finished July with a 1.90 ERA while striking out 30 over 42.2 innings.  His next start will come on Sunday against the Royals who as a team is hitting just .257 with a .707 OPS over the last week.

12 Team League

Jameson Taillon, Pit – The rookie has been impressive of late, owning a .237 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP while striking out 31 over his last 38 innings.  His next start will come on Monday and will be a tough one against a hot Astros team but at this point it’s hard not to ride the arm of this top prospect.

15 Team League

Joe Musgrove, Hou– Musgrove has been impressive since making his debut, allowing just three runs over 18.1 innings while striking out 23.  His next start comes on Thursday against the Orioles who can certainly put runs on the board but also strikeout a ton which could lead to another big day for the rookie right hander.

Closers

10 Team League

Cody Allen, Cle –When the Indians traded for Andrew Miller they initially slotted him into the clsoers role with Allen becoming a setup man and therefore owners cut bait.  Recently however manager Tito Francona has decided to switch it up and put Allen back as the closer with Miller into the setup role.  Allen is an elite closing option and is a must add if on your waiver wire.

12 Team League

Tony Watson, Pit –Watson has had little trouble settling into the Pirates closers role, having notched six saves over the past two weeks with an ERA over 2.70.  The Pirates figure to give Watson plenty of chances over the next month to close out games and seeing as he is just 50 percent owned he is worth grabbing if you need saves help.

15 Team League

Seung Hwan Oh, Stl – Oh has notched five saves over the past two weeks for the Cardinals and has racked up 15 strikeouts over nine innings during that stretch.  He is in no danger of losing his job and seeing as he is just under 70 percent owned it’s likely he is floating around your waiver wire in some standard league formats.
