With this appearance Smith fell to 4-1 on the season in what was definitely not the way he wanted to start the second half. 24 PC-15 ST (7/19/13) (MR) Vinny Pestano (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Pestano needed 15 pitches to work through the appearance in what was a great appearance coming off the All Star break. 12 PC-9 ST (7/20/13)Detroit Tigers(CL) Solid Joaquin Benoit (R)–Recorded his ninth save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit on 12 pitches thrown. Veras needed only 14 pitches to work through the frame forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out while striking out one batter. 14 PC-9 ST (7/20/13) (SU) Hector Ambriz (R)--Pitched one inning of relief on Monday surrendering three runs on four hits and two walks. Ambriz threw 36 pitches in the appearance, so there is a good chance he will be unavailable for Tuesday's contest. 36 PC-19 ST (7/1/13) (MR) Wesley Wright (L)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Sunday retiring all four batters he faced in order. Rivera has not been striking out many batters this season, so it was nice to see him record two strikeouts for his fantasy owners. 16 PC-11 ST (7/20/13) (SU) David Robertson (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Sunday night allowing one hit and one walk on 17 pitches thrown. Robertson has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get the night off on Monday. 17 PC-11 ST (7/21/13) (MR) Boone Logan (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Sunday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Logan struck out the side on only 14 pitches in the appearance, which is not an easy task going up against the Red Sox. 14 PC-11 ST (7/21/13)Oakland Athletics(CL) Elite Grant Balfour (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation striking out the side on 15 pitches thrown. Balfour finishes the first half with 25 saves with a 1.63 ERA, which ranks him near the top of relievers in the American League. 15 PC-12 ST (7/14/13) (SU) Ryan Cook (R)--Picked u p the win on Sunday after pitching two scoreless innings of relief allowing one hit and two walks on 29 pitches thrown. Wilhelmsen bounced back from a poor outing on Friday, having now pitched back-to-back days, so there is a chance he will be unavailable on Sunday. 11 PC-6 ST (7/20/13) (SU) Oliver Perez (L)--Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Thursday allowing one walk while striking out three batters. Choate threw just seven pitches in the appearance forcing one ground ball out to get the job done. 7 PC-5 ST (7/14/13) Injured– Jason Motte (Elbow), Fernando Salas (Shoulder)Washington Nationals(CL) Solid Rafael Soriano (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 18 pitches thrown. Soriano has now been used in both games since the All Star break, but should still be available Sunday considering he pitches three straight days often. 18 PC-13 ST (7/20/13) (SU) Drew Storen (R)--Was charged with a blown-save Saturday night after allowing one run on two hits in the seventh inning. Storen had been pitching well prior to this appearance, so hopefully he will get back on track next time out. 14 PC-12 ST (7/20/13) (SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 23 pitches thrown.
