After blowing three straight saves, Johnson has now pitched two straight solid outings, and appears to have turned the corner from a terrible stretch of games. 14 PC-11 ST (5/25/13) (SU) Darren O’Day (R)–Earned his seventh hold of the season on Saturday after recording the final out of the eighth inning. He allowed one hit in the appearance, but was able to get the job done by forcing a ground ball out on ninth pitched thrown. 9 PC-5 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Pedro Strop (R)–Recorded just one out in his appearance on Thursday surrendering two runs on one hit and two walks in the sixth inning. Strop has now allowed four runs over his last two appearances, and if he continues down this road, there is a chance he won't be staying in the Orioles bullpen for long. 22 PC-8 ST (5/23/13) Boston Red Sox (CL) Solid Andrew Bailey (R)--Recorded his sixth save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter. Bailey forced two fly ball outs to go along with his strikeout, which isn't exactly what you want to see, but at least he escaped with the save. 15 PC-11 ST (5/25/13) (SU) Koji Uehara (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night allowing one hit on 16 pitches thrown. Uehara has been pitching very well as of late, and has now put together seven straight scoreless relief appearances, racking up 12 strikeouts over that time frame. 16 PC-11 ST (5/24/13) (MR) Junichi Tazawa (R)--Picked up his fourth win of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Despite being removed from the closer role with Andrew Bailey back from injury, Tazawa will still have fantasy value in holds leagues, and could find himself back in the closer role if the often-injured Bailey misses time again. 14 PC-11 ST (5/25/13) Injured--Joel Hanrahan (Forearm)Chicago White Sox(CL) Solid Addison Reed (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Friday night in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Reed needed just eight pitches to extend the game into extra innings, forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs to get the job done. 8 PC-5 ST (5/24/13) (SU) Jesse Crain (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 15 pitches thrown. With this appearance Crain lowered his earned-run average to 0.82, which makes him one of the best setup men to own in terms of fantasy. 15 PC-9 ST (5/24/13) (MR) Matt Thornton (L)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Friday night allowing one walk on only 15 pitches thrown. Thornton had allowed three runs over his previous two outings, so it was nice to see him get back on track in this contest. 15 PC-9 ST (5/24/13) Cleveland Indians (CL) Solid Chris Perez (R)–Was used in a non-save situation Monday allowing one run on one hit and two walks while striking out two batters in the ninth inning. Perez allowed a home run to Endy Chavez, which gave the Mariners the lead, but int he bottom half of the inning the Indians offense tied the game back up, saving Perez from being tagged with a loss. 28 PC-16 ST (5/20/13) (SU) Vinny Pestano (R)--Took the loss and was charged with his second blown-save of the season Saturday after surrendering four runs on four hits and two walks in the eighth inning. Since returning from the disabled list, Pestano has now allowed five earned-runs, which is a cause for concern and maybe he is not fully healed from his injury. 31 PC-17 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Joe Smith (R)--Picked up his fifth hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one walk while striking out two batters. With this appearance Smith is now sitting on a 1.06 ERA, which is the best among the Indians relievers. 23 PC-14 ST (5/25/13) Detroit Tigers (CL) Solid Jose Valverde (R)–Collected his fifth save of the season on Thursday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out three batters. Valverde has now pitched three straight days, so he should get the day off on Friday meaning Joaquin Benoit  could be in line to get a save on Friday. 16 PC-11 ST (5/23/13) (SU) Joaquin Benoit (R)–Picked up the win on Thursday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. With Jose Valverde pitching three straight days, Benoit would be the likely candidate to  be used in the closer role if he was unavailable despite pitching back-to-back days. 15 PC-9 ST (5/23/13) (MR) Phil Coke (L)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Coke looked sharp in this appearance, striking out two batters while forcing one fly ball out to get the job done. 15 PC-10 ST (5/25/13) Injured– Octavio Dotel (Shoulder) Houston Astros (CL) Shaky Jose Veras (R)–Took the loss and was charged with his third blown-save Friday after surrendering three runs on one hit and two walks in the ninth inning. With this appearance Veras falls to 0-3 on the season, and will likely get e night off on Saturday due to his high pitch count. 29 PC-18 ST (5/24/13) (SU) Wesley Wright (L)–Was used in the eighth inning on Saturday night allowing one run on two hits while striking out three batters. Wright has now pitched back-to-back days, and considering his pitch count, he will likely be unavailable on Sunday. 26 PC-17 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Hector Ambriz (R)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday night in a non-save situation allowing one hit on 10 pitches thrown. Ambriz has pitched well over his last few outings, but is still not someone to target in fantasy leagues. 10 PC-8 ST (5/25/13) Injured–Josh Fields  (Forearm) Kansas City Royals (CL) Solid Greg Holland (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out two batters. Holland has put to rest any questions about him losing his job, and now with Kelvin Herrera in the minors, he has little competition for the closer role moving forward. 14 PC-12 ST (5/25/13) (SU) Aaron Crow (R)–Was used in the seventh inning on Friday night allowing two runs on two hits and one walk needing 18 pitches to get through the appearance. With the recent demotion of Kelvin Herrera, Crow will take over the setup duties for Greg Holland, but is outings like this start to pile up, he will be out of the role pretty quick, considering all the Royals have dealt with in that spot this season. 18 PC-10 ST (5/24/13) (MR) Tim Collins (L)--Forced the only batter he faced in the eighth inning to fly out on five pitches thrown. With the recent demotion of Kelvin Herrera, Collins will move up a spot in the pecking order, meaning he could be in line for more hold opportunities, but he should not be picked up just yet, considering he has only four holds thus far in 2013. 5 PC-3 ST (5/25/13) Los Angeles Angels (CL) Solid Ernesto Frieri (R)–Earned his first hold of the season Thursday night after failing to make it out of the ninth inning allowing two runs on three hits and one walk. Frieri threw 35 pitches in the appearance, so there is a good he will get the day off on Friday, so fantasy owners will want to plan accordingly. 35 PC-19 ST (5/23/13) (SU) Scott Downs (L)–Earned his 10th hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning allowing one hit on 10 pitches thrown. Downs has pitched only 1.1 innings since last Sunday, so there is a good chance he will be used over the next few days. 10 PC-6 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Sean Burnett (R)--Picked up his fourth hold of the season Thursday after recording the final two outs of the seventh inning. Burnett has picked up right where he left off prior to his injury, and if deep holds leagues he could potentially be someone to target if he continues int he right direction. 4 PC-3 ST (5/23/13) Injured:  Ryan Madson (Elbow)Minnesota Twins(CL) Solid Glen Perkins (L)–Recorded his ninth save of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 13 pitches thrown. This was Perkins' first save in two weeks, after blowing a save in his last appearance, so hopefully the Twins can build on this game and continue moving upward, which is what Perkins needs to produce on the level he should. 13 PC-11 ST (5/25/13) (SU) Jared Burton (R)–Earned his 10th hold of the season Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning needing 16 pitches to get the job done. Although he picked up the hold, this was a bad outing for Fien, who is now sitting on a 4.95 ERA through 23 appearances. 19 PC-11 ST (5/23/13)New York Yankees(CL) Elite Mariano Rivera (R)–Recorded his 18th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 11th inning striking out two batters on nine pitches thrown. Rivera remains perfect on the season in save situations, and if he continues to pitch this well, the Yankees may try to talk him out of retiring next season. 9 PC-8 ST (5/25/13) (SU) David Robertson (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one walk while striking out one batter on 18 pitches thrown. Robertson has been striking out batters in bunches, and has no recorded six strikeouts over his last three innings of work. 18 PC-11 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Boone Logan (R)–Failed to record an out in his appearance on Saturday after allowing a hit to the out batter he faced in the seventh inning. Logan has pitched back-to-back days, but recorded low pitch count sin both contests, so he will be available if needed on Sunday. 4 PC-4 ST (5/25/13)Oakland Athletics(CL) Solid Grant Balfour (R)–Earned his 10th save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing two walks while striking out one batter. Balfour is now sporting a 1.40 ERA on the season, allowing just three runs over 19.1 innings of work. 17 PC-9 ST (5/24/13) (SU) Ryan Cook (R)–Recorded his first save of the season Sunday with Gran Balfour unavailable, allowing two hits while striking out one batter. Cook got himself into some trouble, but was able to secure the one-run lead, which should earn him another chance like this if the situation arises. 21 PC-15 ST (5/19/13) (MR) Sean Doolittle (L)–Picked up his eighth hold of the season Tuesday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit while striking out two batters. With this appearance Doolittle is now sporting a 0.90 ERA through his first 21 appearances, which make him one of the better middle relievers in all of baseball. 14 PC-12 ST (5/21/13)Seattle Mariners(CL) Solid Tom Wilhelmsen (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday allowing one walk on 12 pitches. This was likely just a bullpen session in a game-time situation for Wilhelmsen, considering the Mariners where down by six runs when he entered the game. 12 PC-5 ST (5/22/13) (SU) Carter Capps (R)–Recorded the final out of the ninth inning Saturday night in a non-save situation striking out the only batter he faced on five pitches. Furbush will likely get the day off on Sunday after a high pitch count, so expect to see him back in the mix either Monday or Tuesday. 36 PC-20 ST (5/25/13)Injured–Stephen Pryor (back)Tampa Bay Rays(CL) Solid Fernando Rodney (R)–Was charged with his fifth blown-save of the season Saturday after allowing two runs on two hits and one walk in the ninth inning. Rodney has now blown three of his last five save chances, and if this continues, the Rays will have no choice but to make a change in the closer role. 20 PC-13 ST (5/25/13) (SU) Joel Peralta (R)–Earned his 13th hold of the season on Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one walk while striking out two batters. With the recent struggles of Fernando Rodney, Peralta would be next in line to close, so fantasy owners of Rodney may want to stash Peralta in case his struggles continue. 20 PC-13 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Jake McGee (L)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday allowing one hit while striking out two batters. McGee is still throwing too many pitches in his appearances, but at least he is starting to throw more strikes, which has helped him lowered his earned-run average over his last few appearances. 22 PC-14 ST (5/25/13) Texas Rangers (CL) Elite Joe Nathan (R)–Recorded his 16th save of the season on Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning needing only 11 pitches to get the job done. Nathan has now pitched back-to-back days, but will still be available Sunday due to low pitch counts in both of those contests. 11 PC-7 ST (5/25/13) (SU) Tanner Scheppers (R)–Picked up his ninth hold of the season Saturday night after pitching a scoreless eighth inning allowing one hit while striking out one batter. With this appearance Scheppers is now sitting on a 0.75 ERA, which is among the best in all of baseball. 24 PC-16 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Jason Frasor (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Friday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. Frasor has been pitching well as of late, but there is no reason to roster him at this point, even in AL-Only holds leagues. 15 PC-8 ST (5/24/13) Injured– Joakim Soria (Elbow)Toronto Blue Jays(CL) Solid Casey Janssen (R)–Was used in the ninth inning on Wednesday in a non-save situation allowing one run on two hits while striking out one batter. The run allowed was just his fourth of the season, and if the Blue Jays start to turn things around, he could become a great closer to own in fantasy moving forward. 28 PC-18 ST (5/22/13) (SU) Steve Delabar (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Wednesday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Delabar has now pitched back-to-back days, so there is a chance he will have the day off on Thursday when the Blue Jays open up a series with the Orioles. 7 PC-5 ST (5/22/13) (MR) Esmil Rogers (R)–Pitched three innings of relief on Friday night allowing three hits while striking out two batters on 42 pitches thrown. Rogers will likely get a few days off after this long relief appearance, so don't expect to see him back on the mound until next week. 43 PC-28 ST (5/24/13) Injured– Sergio Santos (Triceps)Continue to Page 2 to view the National League Bullpen Report...National League Bullpen Report Arizona Diamondbacks(CL) Shaky Heath Bell (R)–Collected his seventh save of the season on Friday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning allowing one hit and one walk on 22 pitches thrown. Hernandez allowed a solo-home run to Everth Cabrera in the inning, but it did not turn into a problem considering the Diamondbacks had a big enough lead. 21 PC-14 ST (5/24/13) (MR) Matt Reynolds (L)--Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Saturday night allowing one run (unearned) on one hit. Reynolds has yet to bounce back from a few rough starts, but at least he didn't allow any earned-runs in this contest. 19 PC-14 ST (5/25/13) Injured: J.J. Putz (Elbow) Atlanta Braves (CL) Elite Craig Kimbrel (R)–Picked up the win on Tuesday night after pitching a 1-2-3 10th inning striking out one batter. Gearrin has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect him to get a day off on Wednesday. 13 PC-8 ST (5/21/13) (MR)  Luis Avilan (L)--Earned his sixth hold of the season Tuesday despite allowing two runs on one hit and one walk in the eighth inning. This was a rough outing for Avilan, who has now pitched consecutive days, so expect to see him get the day off on Wednesday as the Braves try to prevent any more injuries to their bullpen arms. 15 PC-7 ST (5/21/13) Injured– Jonny Venters (Elbow), Jordan Walden (Shoulder), Eric O’Flaherty (Elbow) Chicago Cubs (CL) Shaky Kevin Gregg (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Gregg hasn't recorded a save in May 12, but at least he has been pitching well in non-save situations, which helps other categories for his fantasy owners. 20 PC-12 ST (5/25/13) (SU) Kyuji Fujikawa (R)--Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Thursday allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 12 pitches thrown. This was just his first appearance since last Sunday, so expect to see him used often over the next few days, now that he appears to be back up to strength after a stint on the disabled list. 12 PC-8 ST (5/23/13) (MR) Carlos Marmol (R)--Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Thursday allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 14 pitches thrown. This was Brothers' first appearance since Wednesday, so expect to see him used over the next few days. 19 PC-11 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Wilton Lopez (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. Despite pitching back-to-back days, Lopez should still be available on Sunday considering he threw just four pitches in Saturday's contest. 4 PC-4 ST (5/25/13)Los Angeles Dodgers(CL) Shaky Brandon League (R)–Recorded his 10th save of the season Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out one batter on 11 pitches thrown. Ramos (R)--Pitched 1.2 innings of relief on Friday night allowing one walk while striking out three batters. With the Marlins turning to a closer by committee, Ramos will likely factor into the equation with Steve Cishek, Mike Dunn and Chad Qualls, so his fantasy value should increase over the next few weeks. 19 PC-12 ST (5/24/13)Milwaukee Brewers(CL) Committee John Axford (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Saturday allowing one hit and one walk while striking out one batter on 27 pitches thrown. (CL) Committee Francisco Rodriguez (R)--Earned his first save of the season Friday night after filling in for the injured Jim Henderson, who left the game with a hamstring injury. (SU) Jeremy Affeldt (L)--Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation allowing one hit while striking out one batter on only eight pitches thrown.  After a rough outing his last time on the mound, Affledt got right back on track in this one, and should continue to trend upward in terms of fantasy, now with Santiago Casilla on the disabled list. 8 PC-7 ST (5/25/13) (MR) Javier Lopez (L)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Wednesday needing only seven pitches to get the job done.
