The run allowed by Johnson was unearned, after Chris Davis was charged with an error, but since he was the last pitcher on the mound he was credited with the loss, despite a solid pitching performance. (4/6/13) (SU) Pedro Strop (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning Sunday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing two fly ball outs on only 11 pitches thrown. (4/7/13) (MR) Luis Ayala (R)–Picked up the win on Friday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief giving up two hits while striking out one batter. Due to his high pitch count in this contest, 30 pitches, Ayala will likely be unavailable out on the Orioles bullpen for Saturday night’s game against the Twins. (4/5/13) Boston Red Sox (CL) Solid Joel Hanrahan (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Monday despite giving up a home run to Adam Jones in the ninth inning. Hanrahan gave up two hits in the outing, and didn't really have it going, but he was able to work through his inconsistencies to get the job done and secure a Red Sox win. 16 PC-10 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Andrew Bailey (R)–Earned his third hold of the season Monday after retiring all three batters he faced in order in the eighth inning. Bailey was dealing in this one, striking out two batters and forcing one fly ball out to remain perfect through this first three appearances this season. 14 PC-11 ST (4/8/13) (MR) Koji Uehara (R)–Picked up his second hold of the season Friday after pitching a scoreless sixth inning striking out two batters. Uehara was lights out needing only nine pitches to retire the side, and like the rest of the back end of the Red Sox bullpen, he can’t be happier with the way that he is pitching right now. (4/5/13)Chicago White Sox(CL) Solid Addison Reed (R)–Picked up a win on Sunday after pitching a scoreless 10th inning in a tied game, giving up one hit and one walk on 25 pitches thrown. Reed got himself into trouble, but was able to work out of the jam by forcing two fly ball outs and striking out one batter. (4/7/13) (SU) Matt Thornton (L)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning Sunday giving up one hit while striking out two batters in the appearance. Thornton has pitched well through his first few appearances of the season, and should be universally owned in holds leagues considering how frequent he is used. (4/7/13) (MR) Jesse Crain (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Crain has been dealing through his first few starts of the season and along with Addison Reed and Matt Thornton, the White Sox top three relievers have yet to give up an earned-run. (4/7/13) Cleveland Indians (CL) Solid Chris Perez (R)–Was used in a non-save situation on Monday giving up one hit in the ninth inning. The Indians hadn't used Perez since last Wednesday, so they decided to used him in the ninth inning despite the fact that they were down by five runs, that way he cold still get some work in for the day. 19 PC-12 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Vinnie Pestano (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation giving up one hit and two walks while striking out two batters. He got himself into a bit of a jam, but with a 13 run lead it really didn't matter. (4/7/13) (MR) Bryan Shaw (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Friday night giving up one run while striking out three batters on 23 pitches thrown. Shaw has pitched well through his first few appearances with the Indians, and should continue to be used in meaningful spots, for those of you in holds leagues. (4/5/13)Detroit Tigers(CL) Committee Joaquin Benoit (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation retiring all three batters he faced in order. With the signing of Jose Valverde, Benoit's fantasy value may be short lived once he is ready to join the big league club, so fantasy owners should start making a backup plan for when it does happen. (4/6/13) (CL) Committee Phil Coke (L)–Had a rough outing on Sunday, allowing two runs on three hits in the eighth inning. He was able to get the final two outs of the inning, but has now allowed three runs over this last two appearances, which may take him out of the closer committee if his struggles continue. (4/7/13) (MR) Octavio Dotel (R)–Was used in the ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation surrendering two runs on three hits and one walk. He needed 31 pitches to get through the appearance, forcing one ground ball out and two fly ball outs to put an end to a horrible outing. (4/7/13) Houston Astros (CL) Shaky Jose Veras (R)–Was used in the ninth inning Sunday in a non-save situation giving up one run on three hits. Veras has been shaky this season, but has yet to be used in a meaningful situation, so it is hard judge say how he will do once in a save situation, so owners should hold onto him for the time being. (4/7/13) (SU) Josh Fields (R)–Retired the only batter he faced in the seventh inning on Wednesday on four pitches forcing a fly ball out. Through two appearances this season, Fields has looked sharp and has yet to give up an earned run. (4/3/13) (MR) Rhiner Cruz (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. It is tough to say if any Astros reliever, will have any fantasy value this season, but the way it looks now both saves and holds will be tough to come by, so it will be tough for them to hold fantasy value despite their solid efforts on the mound. 15 PC-11 ST (4/8/13) Kansas City Royals (CL) Shaky Greg Holland (R)–Was credited with a hold on Sunday despite failing to get the job done, allowing one run on two hits in the ninth inning. The Royals had a cushion heading into the ninth inning, but J.C. Gutierrez allowed three runs before Holland entered the game, so between the two pitchers, it put Kelvin Herrera into a save situation in which he converted. (4/7/13) (SU) Kelvin Herrera (R)–Recorded his first save of the season Sunday after striking out the only batter he faced to end the ninth inning. With the recent struggles of Greg Holland, we could see Herrera in the closer role sooner than later, and Holland owners should consider grabbing Herrera now before it is too late. (4/7/13) (MR) Aaron Crow (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Monday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one walk while striking out one batter. It should be noted that both Greg Holland and Kelvin Herrera had pitched back-t-back days leading up to this game, so they were likely unavailable to pitch, so don't expect to see Crow in this type of situation too often. 16 PC-10 ST (4/8/13) Los Angeles Angels (CL) Shaky Ernesto Frieri (R)–Served up a home run to Nelson Cruz in a non-save situation in the ninth inning of Saturday's win over the Rangers, but was able to limit the damage to secure an Angels win. Frieri struck out two batters in the contest, and now has four strikeouts in two innings of relief this season and should get a few more save chances down the road before Ryan Madson's return. (4/6/13) (SU) Sean Burnett (L)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday giving up one hit while striking out two batters. He needed 20 pitches to get through the appearance striking out two batters while forcing one fly ball out to work through the inning. (4/6/13) (MR) Scott Downs (L)–Took the loss on Friday after giving up one run on two hits in  one inning of work. Downs has now taken a loss in back-to-back games and hasn’t been able to get it going early on this season. (4/5/13) Injured:  Ryan Madson (Elbow)Minnesota Twins(CL) Solid Glen Perkins (L)–Recorded his second save of the season Sunday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out two batters. Perkins had it going Sunday, needing only 11 pitches to get through the appearance and has now pitched back-to-back days. (4/7/13) (SU) Jared Burton (R)–Pitched 0.1 innings of relief on Monday, giving up one hit and one walk in the appearance. Burton has now pitched back-to-back days, but due to low pitch counts, he should be available out of the bullpen on Tuesday. 9 PC-4 ST (4/8/13) (MR) Casey Fien (R)–Was used to get the final out of the eighth inning on Monday, and needed just one pitch to get the job done. Fien got lit up in his previous outing on Friday, allowing four runs over 0.1 innings of work, so it was nice to see him take take of business after an outing like that. 1 PC-1 ST (4/8/13)New York Yankees(CL) Elite Mariano Rivera (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning Sunday in a non-save situation giving up two hits while striking out one batter. This marked Rivera's second appearance of the season, and has currently given up one earned run, three hits and recorded two strikeouts in two innings of work. (4/7/13) (SU) David Robertson (R)–Was used in the eighth inning on Sunday giving up two hits while striking out two batters on 20 pitches thrown. Robertson threw a first-pitch strike to four of the five batters he faced, which is encouraging, but it is never good to have multiple base runners in any situation. (4/7/13) (MR) Boone Logan (R)–Pitched 1.1 innings of relief on Monday allowing one hit and one walk while striking out two batters. This was Logan's better performance of the season, also his longest, but if he continues to allow base runners at this clip, it will only lead to trouble down the road. 18 PC-12 ST (4/8/13)Oakland Athletics(CL) Solid Grant Balfour (R)–Recorded his first save of the season Saturday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. Balfour looked sharp in this contest, forcing two fly ball outs and one strikeout on just 12 pitches thrown. (4/6/13) (SU) Ryan Cook(R)–Picked up his first hold of the season Saturday after retiring all three batters he faced in order in the eighth inning. Cook appears to have worked out the issues we saw on Opening Day, and has now put together back-to-back terrific outings. (4/6/13) (MR) Sean Doolittle (L)–Earned his first hold of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning. He needed just 10 pitched to get through the appearance forcing three fly ball outs, bringing his scoreless innings streak to three innings after this performance. (4/6/13)Seattle Mariners(CL) Solid Tom Wilhelmsen (R)–Recorded his third save of the season Monday night after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning. After early issues with allowing base runners early last week, it appears Wilhelmsen has worked on his control and is attacking more at the plate, so any concerns should now be washed away. 12 PC-8 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Stephen Pryor (R)–Was used in the eighth inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. Pryor has emerged as a solid setup man out of the Mariners bullpen, and if Tom Wilhemlsen's recent struggles were to become the norm, we may see him take over the closer role before season's end. (4/6/13) (MR) Charlie Furbush (L)–Picked up his first hold of the season Monday after striking out the only batter he faced to end the eighth inning. Furbush has looked good earl yon this season, but he is going to be used in a lot of pitcher/batter matchups since he is left-handed, so there could be a lot of one batter appearances as the season progresses, which limits his fantasy upside. 6 PC-3 ST (4/8/13)Tampa Bay Rays(CL) Solid Fernando Rodney (R)–Was used in a non-save situation Sunday surrendering two runs on three hits, failing to get out of the ninth inning. Rodney was lights out last season, and has already giving up three runs this year through his first two appearances, so maybe Rodney is reverting back to his days in Detroit. (4/7/13) (SU) Jake McGee (L)–Pitched a scoreless frame on Friday night retiring all three batters he faced in order. McGee jumped all over the batters, throwing first pitch strikes to each one, and was able to bounce back nice from a horrible showing on Tuesday when he gave up five earned runs. (MR) Joel Peralta (R)–Was used in the eighth inning on Saturday needing only four pitches to record two outs. Despite pitching on back-to-back days, Peralta should be available to pitched, if needed, on Saturday due to his low pitch count the last two games. (4/6/13)Texas Rangers(CL) Elite Joe Nathan (R)–Recorded his second save of the season Monday despite allowing one run on two hits while striking out one batter. This marked Nathan's 300th save of his career and is just the 24th player in history to reach that mark. 24 PC-14 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Jason Frasor (R)–Had a rough outing on Saturday, surrendering two home runs in the six inning. The long balls came off the bats of Peter Bourjos and Albert Pujols, but Angels already had a lead, but this will definitely be a game that Frasor will want to forget. (4/6/13) (MR) Tanner Scheppers (R)–Pitched two innings of relief on Sunday giving up one hit while striking out two batters. Scheppers has had a sold start to the 2013 season, and if he continues on this pace, he could become a solid addition in mixed holds leagues. (4/7/13) Injured– Joakim Soria (Elbow)Toronto Blue Jays(CL) Shaky Casey Janssen (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Thursday after pitching a 1-2-3 ninth inning striking out two batters. Janssen needed only 12 pitches to get through the appearance, and has looked good in his first two appearance of the season, but has now pitched back-to-back days, so expect Sergio Santos to be used in a save situation if one arises on Friday. (4/4/13) (SU) Sergio Santos (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning on Saturday in a non-save situation giving up one hit on 14 pitches thrown. Santos looked solid in this outing striking out one batter while forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball out to get the job done. (4/6/13) (MR) Steve Delabar (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Saturday after being used to get five outs, starting in the sixth inning. National League Bullpen ReportArizona Diamondbacks(CL) Solid J.J. Putz (R)–Was charged with his first blown-save Sunday after surrendering two runs on three hits in the ninth inning. Putz left a few pitches right over the plate, which resulted in a couple runs, but at least he had command of his pitches and should be fine next time out. (4/7/13) (SU) David Hernandez (R)–Picked up his second hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning. He gave up two hits in the appearance, but was able to work out of the jam by forcing two fly ball outs and one strikeout. (4/7/13) (MR) Heath Bell (R)–Recorded his first save of the season Sunday despite allowing one run in the 11th inning. Bell got lucky in this one, and has now given up four runs through his first three appearances this season, so don't expect too many situations like this in the future. (4/7/13)Atlanta Braves(CL) Elite Craig Kimbrel (R)–Recorded his third save of the season on Monday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Kimbrel got himself into a jam by allowing two base runners, but he worked out of it by forcing one ground ball out, one fly ball out and notching one more strikeout to his growing total. 28 PC-16 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Jordan Walden (R)–Was used in the ninth inning on Sunday in a non-save situation, retiring all three batters he faced via strikeout. Walden looked good in this one, and has now put together back-to-back solid outings, and appears to have settled into his new role with his new team. (4/7/13) (MR) Eric O’Flaherty (R)–Picked up his second hold of the season Tuesday after pitching a 1-2-3 eighth inning. O'Flaherty has it going in this game, forcing all three batters to groudn out on just eight pitches thrown, and has now recorded three straight solid outing without allowing an earned run. 8 PC-5 ST (4/8/13) Injured– Jonny Venters (Elbow)Chicago Cubs(CL) Shaky Kyuji Fujikawa (R)–Had a rough outing on Saturday giving up three runs on four hits and one walk int he eighth inning. Despite getting hit around on Saturday, Fujikawa is in line to take over the closer role from Carlos Marmol, and it looks like the switch will be coming sooner than later. (4/6/13) (SU) James Russell (L)–Retired the only batter he faced in the seventh inning on just four pitches thrown. Russell finished what Carlos Villanueva started in the inning, continuing to impress as the team's primary lefty reliever. (4/6/13) (MR) Carlos Marmol (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning on Monday giving up one hit and one walk while striking out two batters. This was his shortest outing of the season and appeared to be relaxed in his new role, after being removed from the closer role just a few days ago. 25 PC-16 ST (4/8/13)Cincinnati Reds(CL) Elite Aroldis Chapman (L)–Recorded his second save of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning, striking out two batters on 17 pitches thrown. Chapman has now pitched back-to-back days and three of the last four games, so a day off is likely for this flamethrower on Monday. (4/7/13) (SU) Jonathan Broxton (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out one batter in the appearance while forcing two fly ball outs on only 10 pitches thrown to remain perfect through his first three innings of work. (4/7/13) (MR) Sean Marshall (L)–Made his season debut on Sunday after missing the first few games with a shoulder injury, retiring all three batters he faced in order in the seventh inning. It appears Marshall is over his ailing shoulder and should be picked up in leagues that have holds as a counting category. (4/7/13)Colorado Rockies(CL) Solid Rafael Betancourt (R)–Pitching for the second straight day, Betancourt recorded his third save of the season Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Betancourt gave up one hit in the appearance, but was able to work around the base runner, forcing one ground ball out and one fly ball to end it. (4/6/13) (SU) Rex Brothers (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Saturday allowing one run on two hits while striking out one batter. He needed 16 pitches to get through the appearance, and was able to limit the damage to just one run by forcing two ground ball outs. (4/6/13) (MR) Wilton Lopez (R)–Pitched a scoreless ninth inning Sunday in a non-save situation giving up two hits on 19 pitches thrown. The Rockies had a big lead when he entered the game, so it was a nice outing for him to work on his command, which was lacking through his first two appearances this season. (4/7/13)Los Angeles Dodgers(CL) Shaky Brandon League (R)–Recorded his second save in as many days on Saturday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Now that he has pitched back-to-back days there is a chance he will be given the day off on Sunday, so owners should keep that in their minds while setting lineups today. (4/6/13) (SU) Kenley Jansen (R)–Picked up his second hold on Saturday after recording the final tow outs of the eighth inning. Jansen has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely get the day off on Sunday. (4/6/13) (MR) Ronald Belisario (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season Sunday after pitching 1.2 innings of relief giving up just one hit in the appearance. Belisario looked good in this one, needing only 15 pitches to record five outs, forcing four ground ball outs and one fly ball out. (4/7/13)Miami Marlins(CL) Solid Steve Cishek (R)–Took the loss and was charged with his first blown-save Sunday after allowing two runs on two hits and two walks in the ninth inning. This was his first save chance of the season, and considering how bad the Marlins offense/pitching staff are, there aren't going to be many chances this season. (4/7/13) (SU) Jon Rauch (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless seventh inning giving up one walk while striking out two batters. He needed 20 pitches to get through the appearance, with 11 of those pitches going over for strikes. (4/7/13) (MR) Mike Dunn (L)–Picked up his second hold of the season Sunday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one walk while striking out two batters. After three appearances this season, Dunn has had his ups and downs, but it is tough to think he will have any fantasy value this season outside of very deep holds leagues. (4/7/13)Milwaukee Brewers(CL) Shaky John Axford (R)–Took the loss on Sunday after surrendering two runs on two hits in the 10th inning. Axford allowed his fourth home run on the season, and appears to have lost all confidence when on the mound, so expect a change to be made in the near future in regards to the Brewers ninth inning situation. (4/7/13) (SU) Jim Henderson (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Monday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning giving up one hit while striking out two batters. Although the team still considers John Axford to be the closer, he is only one or two home runs allowed away from being removed from the role, so Henderson could take over the closer role sooner than later. 30 PC-22 ST (4/8/13) (MR) Michael Gonzalez (L)–Pitched a scoreless 11th inning Sunday giving up one hit while striking out one batter. He needed 16 pitches to get through the appearance forcing one ground ball out to get through the appearance. (4/7/13)New York Mets(CL) Shaky Bobby Parnell (R)–Was used in a non-save situation in the ninth inning on Saturday retiring the side in order on 14 pitches thrown. This was just Parnell's second appearance on the year, and has yet to be used in a save situation, so it is tough to determine if he will be a fixture in the ninth inning for the foreseeable future. (4/6/13) (SU) Brandon Lyon (R)–Was credited with the win on Saturday after pitching a scoreless eighth inning giving up one hit while striking out two batters. Through his first three appearance, Lyon has yet to give up a run and has allowed just one hit, as he tries to impress his new team. (4/6/13) (MR) Josh Edgin (L)–Pitched two innings of relief on Monday allowing one run on two hit while striking out one batter. Edgin has now pitched back-to-back days and will likely get the day off on Tuesday, so those in deep holds leagues should consider grabbing someone else for the Mets next matchup. 29 PC-17 ST (4/8/13) Injured– Frank Francisco (Elbow)Philadelphia Phillies(CL) Elite Jonathan Papelbon (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Thursday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. It was nice to see Papelbon bounce back from a poor showing in his season debut on Wednesday, as he appears to be back to normal moving forward. (4/4/13) (SU) Mike Adams (R)–Was used in the eighth inning on Saturday night allowing one hit while striking out one batter on 24 pitches thrown. It wasn't the cleanest of outings, but Adams was able to work through a high pitch count and not allow any runs. (4/6/13) (MR) Antonio Bastardo (L)–Picked up the win on Saturday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning on a non-save situation. Greg Holland walked the bases loaded and then gave up a game-winning three-run double, which credited Bastardo with the win, so those in holds leagues got lucky with this one. (4/6/13)Pittsburgh Pirates(CL) Solid Jason Grilli (R)--Earned his second save of the season Monday after pitching a scoreless ninth inning retiring all three batters he faced in order. Grilli has been lights out through the first week of the season, and he has really made it easy to forget the name Joel Hanrahan, for Pirates fans. 9 PC- 7 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Mark Melancon (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Monday after pitching another 1-2-3 eighth inning. Melancon has looked like a different pitcher than what we saw in Boston last year through his first few appearances, and at this point he should be owned universally owned in holds leagues. 16 PC-12 ST (4/8/13) (MR) Jared Hughes (R)–Pitched 0.2 innings of relief Saturday giving up one hit in the sixth inning. Hughes entered the game after A.J. Burnett recorded the first out of the inning, and he was able to get through the inning, showing the Pirates that they can have confidence in him. (4/6/13)San Diego Padres(CL) Solid Huston Street (R)–Recorded his first save of the season on Thursday despite allowing a home run to John Buck in the ninth inning. One got away from Street in this one, which resulted in a long ball, but 9-or-11 pitches went over for strikes and he managed to hold onto the lead, so there are some positives to take form this appearance. (4/4/13) (SU) Luke Gregerson (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season on Thursday after pitching 1.1 innings of relief. Gregerson was lights out in this appearance, striking out three of the four batters he faced, and has now struck out four batters in 2.1 innings of relief on the season. (4/4/13) (MR) Dale Thayer (R)–Pitched a scoreless eighth inning Saturday giving up one walk while striking out one batter. Walks have been an issue for Thayer through his first three appearances, giving up four free passes, which is not the way you want to start a season if you want to hold onto your job. (4/6/13)San Francisco Giants(CL) Solid Sergio Romo (R)–Recorded his fourth save of the season Monday night after pitching a scoreless ninth inning. Once again, Romo was dominant allowing one base runner while striking out three batters as he continues to establish himself as one of the best closers in all of baseball. 16 PC-11 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Javier Lopez (L)–Pitched one inning of relief on Sunday giving up two runs on two hits needing 23 pitches to get through the outing. Lopez has now pitched back-to-back days, so he should not be expected to pitch on Monday. (4/7/13) (MR) Santiago Casilla (R)–Picked up his first hold of the season Monday after pitching 1.1. innings of relief. He retired all four batters he faced in order, recording two strikeouts to go along with one ground ball out and one fly ball out. 21 PC-13 ST (4/8/13)St. Louis Cardinals(CL) Shaky Mitchell Boggs (R)–Had an outing he will want to to forget on Monday  allowing six earned runs in the ninth inning. Boggs allowed two hits and walked four batters, which is never good, and only recorded one out before being yanked and may be in jeopardy of losing the closer role after this one. 29 PC-11 ST (4/8/13) (SU) Edward Mujica (R)–Picked up his third hold of the season Saturday despite giving up one run on two hits in the eighth inning. Mujica served up a home run to Pablo Sandoval, but was able to put that behind him and escape the inning with the lead. (4/6/13) (MR) Trevor Rosenthal (R)--Was charged with his second blown-save of the season Monday after allowing one run on two hits in the eighth inning. Soriano had little control of his pitches in this contest, and gave up a home run to Shin-Soo Choo in the inning, with only 13 of his 22 pitches going over for strikes, so he will want to forget this one. Storen actually allowing two runs, but was only credited for one, but was able to work out of a jam and keep the Nationals ahead before Rafael Soriano let the lead slip away. (4/6/13) (SU) Tyler Clippard (R)–Pitched a scoreless seventh inning on Saturday retiring all three batters he faced in order. He struck out two batters while forcing one fly ball out on 11 pitches thrown to run his scoreless innings streak to three innings after this one.
