Here are some Week 6 thoughts.
QUARTERBACK RECOMMENDATIONS
Philip Rivers, Chargers ($7,600): It's all about value. Rivers isn't the best option, but he's a QB1 who is $2,200 cheaper than Peyton Manning (Peyton may only play three quarters, maybe less against the woeful Jags). The Colts are a solid D this year against QBs though as they are allowing the 9th fewest fantasy points to signal callers.
Alex Smith, Chiefs ($6,500): If you ever listen to me you know I'm not a fan. Still, at this cost you can spend your $ in other spots. Plus, the Raiders have allowed the 11th most points to QBs this season including nine passing scores through five games.
RUNNING BACK RECOMMENDATIONS
Danny Woodhead, Chargers ($6,100): The guy leads all runners with 31 receptions and he's scored three times and Ryan Mathews is far from certain to be a big time contributor this weekend. Moreover, Ryan might not even play which could be huge for Danny.
Pierre Thomas, Saints ($5,900): At this point I don't even care of Mark Ingram (toe) plays asn I wouldn't expect him to steal much work from Thomas. The matchups with the Patriots figures to he high scoring which will hopefully allow the Saints to move the football a lot by getting it into Thomas' hands, even if the Patriots have only allowed two touchdowns to runners this season.
WIDE RECEIVER RECOMMENDATIONS
Marques Colston, Saints ($6,700): At some point he's going go break out. He's been too good for too long to just continue to waste away. The Patriots have actually been tough on wideouts this season though allowing just two scores and the 6th fewest points to wideouts in a PPR setup.
Justin Blackmon, Jaguars ($6,200): The Jags might lose by 30 points to the Broncos this week, bu garbage time numbers count as much as any other. If the Jags do fall behind they will likely pass the ball against a defense that will be in the prevent, and that means yards for Blackmon and company. In his first game back Blackmon went for five receptions, 136 yards an a score.
TIGHT END RECOMMENDATIONS
Greg Olsen, Panthers ($6,300): It's a dream matchup for Olsen who faces a Vikings defense that has allowed the second most points per game to tight ends in a PPR setup, and that includes six scores in just four games. He's been missing time with a lower leg injury though so you have to balance the matchup with his health complications.
Garrett Graham, Texans ($5,100): With Owen Daniels out with a broken leg, Graham will likely step up as an important part of the Texans passing attack, especially since Matt Schaub just loves dumping the ball off to his ends.
KICKER RECOMMENDATIONS
Dan Bailey, Cowboys ($5,100): Matt Prater is the top dog at the position with a cost of $5,800. Is it worth spending the extra $700 to get an extra three points for your kicker? Maybe it is, but I just can't spend big on this position.
DEFENSE RECOMMENDATIONS
You can't go wrong with a handful of units this week, but my top pick is the Cincinnati Bengals ($5,300). They face a Bills team with a less than 100 percent C.J. Spiller, their top wideout missing practice (back woes, funeral) and a QB with one game played in his career in Thad Lewis. Good luck Buffalo.
