Below are stacks to consider for Friday’s 14-game main MLB DFS slate.

Coors Field

The Rockies are at home this weekend hosting a series against the Padres, so we’ll obligatorily get Coors Field out of the way first. Clayton Richard is starting for the Pads tonight, and the Rox have plenty of guys who can do damage against left-handed pitching. Six Rockies have a wRC+ better than 120 against lefties this season, and wRC+ is a park adjusted number. If you use wOBA, which is not park-adjusted, six Rox have a wOBA better than .384 against lefties.

The Rockies unsurprisingly have the highest expected run total of the day in Vegas, and it’s not even remotely close. The Rockies expected run total is 6.75 runs, and no other team has an expected total that’s even within a run of Colorado’s high total. They’re unquestionably the chalk, so going heavy with a Rockies stack probably isn’t going to win you any GPPs. But you should have exposure to them in cash games, and sprinkle them in your GPP lineups as well, just don’t go overboard.

The six Rockies mentioned above with the wOBAs higher than .380 against lefties are Nolan Arenado, Ryan Hanigan, Trevor Story (DTD), DJ Lemahieu, Charlie Blackmon and Gerardo Parra.

Cincinnati Reds

Cincinnati is your way to get exposure to a very hitter-friendly ballpark without having to also be exposed to super high ownership percentages. Cincy has played as hitter-friendly this season as any park other than Coors Field. The Reds will host the Pirates there this weekend with Chad Kuhl going against Homer Bailey tonight.

Kuhl has leaned more toward the groundball side of the groundball-flyball spectrum in his career with a 1.22 GB/FB ratio, but lately he has been allowing hitters to elevate more as his GB/FB ratio has dropped to 0.88 in his last five starts. With Cincy being much more homer-friendly than his home park in Pittsburgh, that trend will put him more at risk this evening.

Cincy has a healthy number of hitters who hit right-handed pitching well with five guys that own a wOBA of .360 or better against righties this season. Joey Votto, Jesse Winker, Scooter Gennett (DTD), Zack Cozart and Eugenio Suarez are those five hitters. All five of those guys were all in the lineup together on Tuesday, and they hit 1-2-3-4-5 in the order. Even if they don’t string together the entire top half of the lineup, some combination of those guys should provide you with a homogenous stack.

Detroit Tigers

Our projections have Carson Fulmer of the White Sox projected for the shortest outing of any of today’s starting pitchers. This makes plenty of sense given that of today’s probable starters Fulmer has the worst xFIP in the last 30 days. That alone makes Detroit, who will be hosting the White Sox this weekend, an attractive stack option. But the state of the Chicago bullpen makes the Tigers even more attractive.

If you’ll recall, the White Sox traded several of their bullpen pieces at or before the trade deadline. David Robertson was traded to New York, Anthony Swarzak was sent to Milwaukee, and Tyler Clippard is now in Houston. As a result, Chicago’s bullpen has struggled since the Break and own the worst bullpen xFIP in that time frame. Their 5.48 xFIP is quite a bit worse than the second worst xFIP of 5.01.

The only hesitation with stacking Tigers is that they don’t have many hitters who have hit right-handed pitching like Fulmer all that well this season. The combo of Fulmer and a bad Chicago bullpen is enough to overcome that deficiency, but be aware that this is not a situation where five or six hitters from the team have season-long numbers that make you feel comfortable.

John Hicks has been solid against righties this season with a 133 wRC+, and Mikie Mahtook has been just above average with a 103 wRC+. Nick Castellanos come close to being average against righties with a 94 wRC+ and leads the team in ISO against them at .177 (tied with Hicks). Elsewhere, Miguel Cabrera has been a bit better since returning to the lineup with hits in four of his last six games including two home runs. Ian Kinsler has also heated up recently with home runs in four of his last eight. Castellanos has been the hottest hitter on the team with an 11-game hit streak ongoing.
