Stacks for Saturday, July 8

Nationals... (and Twins on DK)

The Nationals work for both the early DraftKings slate, and the FanDuel afternoon slate. It took them 9 innings before waking up last night for a walkoff win, and should have had five runs in those first few innings, I think they get that done vs Julio Teheran. He beat the Nats back in June, pitching seven innings while allowing two runs. Teheran has allowed at least one HR in each of his last 9 games dating back to May 18, 2017 (Jake Odorizzi has the longest active streak with 13).

Nationals hitters have an OBP of .361 at home this season (Rank: 1st of 30 in MLB), and will be looking to put this one away early with sweaty Strasburg pitching. Julio may have trouble keeping his pitches from leaving the park today as Harper is 16-37 with 7 home runs off him, Drew is 5-6 with a homer, and Zimmerman, Goodwin, and Murphy have also taken Julio deep in the past.

While Washington works for multiple sites, the Twins work only in the DK early slate. The Twins have another chance to improve on their poor win percentage at home in a matchup vs Wade Miley. Best to stick with the top or bottom of the lineup, as Miley has walked 26 of 137 batters (19.0%) against the heart of the order this season (Rank: 165th of 165 qualified SPs in MLB; League Avg: 9.1%). It’s good to know that Sano is 1-1 with a hr off him (1BB) He’s also allowed at least four runs in five of his last six starts, while not making it out of the third inning in three of them.

Nationals: Bryce Harper, Brian Goodwin, Stephen Drew (Murphy if Drew is out), Ryan Zimmerman

Twins: Brian Dozier, Miguel Sano, Robbie Grossman, Byron Buxton (Escobar if Buxton is out.)

Rangers

The Rangers may start the night slate with the largest projected run total tonight, which includes a game at Coors. They face Jesse Chavez for the Angels tonight, and they had to go to their bullpen early last night after Nolasco couldn’t make it out of the second inning. Chavez has pitched well lately, but still has a 6.12 ERA, and has a 4.3 BB/9 over his past five starts. Rangers hitters have drawn 38 walks in 306 PAs (12.4%) against pitchers who have reached at least 80 pitches in a game this season (Rank: 1st of 30 in MLB).

The Rangers also have hit at least one home run in each of their last 13 games, and have 106 HRs in 2,175 ABs (20.5 AB/HR) versus RHP this season (Rank: 1st of 30 in MLB; League Avg: 26.5).

Top Stack Suggestions: Adrian Beltre, Rougned Odor, Nomar Mazara, Carlos Gomez or Elvis Andrus if back from leave.
