Happy Friday, folks. Some real nice options from which to choose today, though, as usual, it’s a top-heavy slate. Not that we can’t find bargains, but with the points pitching provides you, especially on FanDuel, you want to make sure you’re not just keeping pace with the field, but that you leave as few points on the table as possible. Here’s a look at the data for today with some selections of mine below.

Noah Syndergaard, NYM – All hail Thor! Yes, once again, the mighty Thor has a tasty match-up. If he can keep his attitude in check and not get thrown out in the third inning (yes, still bitter), he should have no trouble with a Marlins team that’s been sitting on a dismal .259 wOBA over the last seven days.

David Price, BOS – The Blue Jays against southpaws just ain’t what it used to be and Price has been dominant in both appearances against them this season. The Jays have a .319 wOBA (that drops to .307 on the road) with a 22.8-percent strikeout rate against the lefties this year, so look for Price to throw another strong showing at home.

Jordan Zimmermann, DET – I’m concerned with the groin injury and won’t use him in cash games just to play it safe. Two outings ago he struggled and had to shorten up his last start. For a GPP, particularly on those with two pitchers like Fantasy Aces and Draft Kings, he’s definitely usable since the White Sox’ .299 wOBA against righthanders has dropped to .265 over the past week with a 24.2-percent K-rate.

John Lackey, CHC – He’s as steady as they come and the 8.82 K/9 should see a nice bump facing a Diamondbacks team that is fanning 28.5-percent of the time over the past week. The D-Backs are also scuffling at the plate a little lately as well with just a .295 wOBA and a .304 on-base percentage in that span.

Francisco Liriano, PIT – While the Angels aren’t a big strikeout team, their .288 wOBA against lefties ranks just 28th in the league. The .118 ISO shows that they struggle to hit for power as well.

Vince Velasquez, PHI – The Brewers have been striking out less over the past week, but they still have a 26.7 K-rate against righties this year overall. Their struggles outside of Miller Park are well-documented as well with a .294 wOBA and an 80 wRC+.

Kenta Maeda, LAD – He’s failed to pitch beyond the fifth inning in each of his last four starts and before his last effort, which was a shutdown of the Mets for five innings, he was getting smacked around a little too often. Well, nothing says rebound like an outing against the Braves. They’re the worst-hitting team in the majors and while the run support might be tough to come by for Maeda, he shouldn’t have any trouble keeping their bats in check.

Chris Tillman, BAL – He’s easily dismissed the Yankees in two outings this season and if you look at his nine starts against them prior, you’ll see he’s sporting a 3.34 ERA. That’s a pretty nice number considering things really hadn’t clicked for him until this season. Add in the Yankees current .238 wOBA over the last seven days and Tillman looks like an even tastier option.

Julio Teheran, ATL – If the blister on his foot is a non-issue, then he should have a nice battle with Maeda and the Dodgers here. Even if he doesn’t log the win, he should keep the numbers looking good as the Dodgers’ .300 wOBA against righties drops to .271 when you isolate the last seven days. They also have a 24.7-percent K-rate over that same span and have continuously struggled at home as well.

Jimmy Nelson, MIL – Should be a nice duel with Velasquez here and could end up hurting the overall run production for the game. The Phillies are sitting on a .240 wOBA over the last week with a 26.4-percent strikeout rate and their numbers against righties and their numbers at home have been equally atrocious.
