Not gonna lie. I do not love today’s slate. We’ve got some obvious choices here, though yes, I am still going to avoid Zack Greinke in Colorado because, well…it’s Colorado and his track record in Coors doesn’t exactly scream “cash game lock.” But even the low-cost options make me yawn and want to avoid playing anything but GPPs tonight. Here’s a look at the numbers and who I may use.

Jon Lester, CHC – So he’s the best pitcher not throwing in Coors and while there are some guys who transcend the numbers, I’m still a little hesitant given the Marlins’ recent offensive surge over the last week. Their numbers against lefties are right around league average, so Lester certainly has the potential to do well, but I’m hedging just a bit here.
Matt Harvey, NYM – So here seems to be a much better option if you want to play cash games and insist on paying up for pitching. The Braves own a meek .286 wOBA with just .105 ISO against righties this season and over the past week that wOBA is just .299 and comes with a 20.6-percent strikeout rate.
Rick Porcello, BOS – This is a nice match-up for Porcello as the White Sox are pretty cold at the plate over the last seven days. Push aside what they did to Eduardo Rodriguez as he’s a much different hurler. Focus on Chicago’s .291 wOBA over the last week that comes with a ridiculous 28.3-percent strikeout rate.
Tim Lincecum, LAA – Are we buying into the resurgence of little Timmy? Not really. But rather than look to him as the pitcher he once was, accept who he is now and simply play the match-ups. The A’s may not strike out much, but they’re also not hitting at all. We’re talking about a team slash line of .200/.257/.305 with a painfully low .248 wOBA over the last week. If Lincecum can be efficient early, we may even be able to get a couple of extra innings out of him.
Matt Wisler, ATL – You just can’t ignore the loss of Yoenis Cespedes and the offensive woes from which the Mets seem to be suffering. Their .292 wOBA and 22.2-percent strikeout rate over the last seven days is disappointing and they’ve been toting numbers slightly below league average against righties all year. Why not throw a dart here and see if the bats can get to Matt Harvey?
Ricky Nolasco, MIN – He’s thrown back-to-back quality starts against the Angels and the Yankees and now he gets an even worse offensive team in the Phillies who own a .283 wOBA and 22.1-percent strikeout rate against right-handed pitching this year. But now look even closer and you’ll see the Phillies with an ugly .583 OPS and .250 wOBA over the past week. Even Nolasco is looking like a reasonable dart today.
