Clayton Kershaw, LAD – The Nationals usually hit lefties pretty well, but over the past week, they’ve posted just a .303 wOBA with a 21.8-percent strikeout rate. Facing Kershaw is not the best time to be getting cold at the plate. Personally, I’d go down a step or two here, but who am I to tell you not to use the best pitcher in the game?

Madison Bumgarner, SF – The Pirates have also handled southpaws pretty well overall this year, but they’ve been ice cold at the plate for a couple of weeks now. And not just cold in the sense of a lousy .280 wOBA over the past week, but also that they’re just up there hacking away, as evidenced by a disgusting 31.2-percent strikeout rate over that span.

Stephen Strasburg, WAS – Out-dueling Kershaw is never an easy feat, but he’s getting help thanks to a subpar Dodgers offense. The bats have woken up a little over the last seven days, but they’re still striking out at a 22.6-percent rate. Overall against righties, they’ve got just a 23rd-ranked .304 wOBA and at home, that number drops to a .298 mark.

John Lackey, CHC – The Cardinals have been tough on right-handed pitching all year, but over the last week, their bats have disappeared. We’re talking a .267 wOBA with a .108 ISO and just a .318 slugging percentage. Lackey has faced them twice this year and has a 1.93 ERA with a 20:2 K:BB over 14 innings. That’s looking pretty tasty given the cost in relation to the other aces.

Steven Wright, BOS – That knuckle sandwich your grandpa always promised you comes in the form of Wright facing the White Sox. While the Pale Hose’s offense has been right around league average for the past week, we’re still talking about a team with a 21-percent K-rate against righties and a wOBA that needs rounding up to get to a .300 mark. When they’re on the road, that wOBA stays at .299 and that strikeout rate actually climbs up to 22-percent.

Shelby Miller, ARI – Here’s your biggest bargain and the lowest I’ll go even in a large GPP field. No one is a fan of Miller or his unsexy wOBA splits, but the Phillies are at a major low right now, offensively speaking. We’re not only looking at a .280 wOBA and 22.3-percent strikeout rate against right-handers this year, but over the last week, that K-rate stays about the same but the wOBA drops all the way down to .237 with a nasty .316 slugging percentage.
