Wow. I hate today’s pitching slate. Really, I do. Yuck. I will not be playing any cash games tonight as there is no starter out there with whom I feel completely comfortable. It’s GPP city for me and I don’t even think I’m going to invest all that much either. Sorry, folks, but I call ‘em like I see ‘em and this slate looks ugly. Nevertheless, there are a few names I will use because hey….you never know…

Jordan Zimmermann, DET – His right-handed wOBA splits are a little tough, but the White Sox rank 26th in the league with a .303 wOBA and continue to post a wOBA under .300 (.292 actually) over the past week. I don’t expect a lot of strikeouts, but Zimm should be able to limit the runs on the board.

Matt Moore, SF – He’s making his Giants debut and catches a bit of a break facing the Phillies. Yes, unfortunately the Phillies are killing the Giants lately, but perhaps Moore’s move to the NL can throw the Phillies off their game a bit. They still rank 29th in the league with a .289 wOBA against lefties and have a 22.8-percent strikeout rate against them as well.

J.A. Happ, TOR – Doesn’t it just make you feel dirty to use this guy? It kills me sometimes, but it’s difficult to argue against the results. His numbers are ridiculous for who he is. Now he’ll face the Astros who are as cold as a team can possibly be. Not only have they posted a league-worst .213 wOBA over the last seven days, but they also have a 26.5-percent strikeout rate and a pitiful .085 wOBA in that span.

Drew Smyly, TB – He’s had his ups and downs throughout the year, but Smyly catches a bit of a break here with the Royals. They’re about league-average when facing southpaws, but over this past week, we’re looking at a .237 wOBA with a 21.9-percent K-rate and a .097 ISO.

Bartolo Colon, NYM – The Yankees opened up a can of whup-ass on Steven Matz yesterday but they’re still sporting just a .292 wOBA with a 23.7-percent strikeout rate over the last seven days. They also rank just 25th in the league with a .303 wOBA against righties. It’s not a dream match-up but for what Colon will cost, you can get some pretty tasty bats into your lineup.
